  • The guy that made this video needs another hobby.

  • @stayjit1 It's not a hobby dude stayjit1, it was a one off incident and not likely to ever happen again. Dah. How pathetic your comment is stayjit1.

  • . If he is working at 8:30 he is in a construction time if it's before 8 he might have the Noise bylaw exception which costs about $148.00. In Regina they start construction at 4:00 and when they street sweep they run about 9 machines they are all much Quieter and even this one doesn't bother me but I would rather have loud machinery at 8 than lots of machinery at 4.00

  • @21stgear It was within the time permitted but the level of noise was well above the permitted amount which has two problems, (1) it violates the noise by law, and (2) it violates the BC Workers Compensation Rules & Regulations for a safe work environment. The Contractor and the City of Vancouver should know better but they clearly send or allow vehicles out on the streets that are not maintained and are a danger to the driver's hearing and to the public who also don't have ear protection.

  • i work with this kind of truck ... and i will be pretty happy to stay in front of your house all day long

  • @mastry123 Ah yes, the crazy cranks who want to bug people rather than do maintenance on their vehicles and save their own hearing from damage due to overly loud noise from their vehicle. If you wish to go deaf that's your business nasty dude.

  • where can i get one of those noise decibel thingys?? after watching this vid im curious how loud it gets on my street lol

  • @SAOTOME666 If I recall I picked it up at RPE Electronics in Vancouver, BC.. I had a very noisy neighbor for a while and out of curiosity I picked one up. Typically they are used on movie sets, for video recording, interviews, musicians, music venues, monitoring noise bylaws, etc. As a film maker and scientist having one is helpful. M noisy neighbor was within the noise by laws. When the street cleaner passed by that morning I used it and a video camera to collect the evidence.

  • go fuck your girlfriend and shut up !!!

  • @mastry123 Ah yes, the vast wisdom and intelligence of your advice.

  • What a pussy.

  • @blakedrummer1 Best you got is name calling like a kid? Wow.

  • @blakedrummer1 Lost your hearing to industrial noise yet?

  • the owner of that car is goin to go out there and go "Wait didnt i park up there!?"

  • @JrSAR101 Yeah, that's what I also thought!

  • Hey MountThor, do you have anything better to do with your time? You should get a hobby. Maybe the local Old Lady Church Group can have you over. You could sew quilts. Trade cookie recipes.

  • If you truly want to target useless noise..

You should point that decimal meter at the hip hoppers when they drive by. I wonder how many decibels those bass-heavy car sound systems are putting out when it can be heard shaking the ground from down the block. Make sure you get license plate #s and note the time of the noise too..

Where I live dozens of drivers do it all night long, every night. I'd like to make them sorry for putting their rolling party ahead of my life.

  • I don't mind them cleaning the streets, not even at the first minute that is legal in the morning.

What I mind is the noise from a non-maintained sub-contractor's vehicle that pumps out way more decibels of noise ABOVE the legal limit!

Also, the driver wasn't wearing ear protection so when you say who the fuck cares you're saying that you don't give a shit about the driver's hearing!

  • dude really? hes just tryin to keep your street cleaned. the legal timeto start working in resi areas is 7 am and i no that for a fact because thats when the garbage trucks can start legaly in a city. and new trucks are not cheap every company cant go get new trucks whenever something is old or loud

  • @rempledisposal City workers or sub contractors not allowed to violate city noise bylaws or provincial workers compensation regulations. The noise was too loud for the driver of the truck! So in fact I was bringing this to his attention to save his hearing! If he drives that unmaintained vehicle a lot that puts him at risk of HEARING LOSS. So is keeping my street clean worth the loss of his hearing? I don't think anyone would agree to that price nor should they.

  • @MountThor ya man but reeally the city of isnt gunna do shit all they care about is cheap street cleaning

  • @rempledisposal Well they are an entity bound by the law, especially the laws that they make. You're simplistic analysis is irrelevant.

  • @MountThor dude i live in vancouver too im just stating the truth they really wont do anything about it they are saving money with thses cheap private contractors

  • @rempledisposal Your opinion is irrelevant. If one doesn't document abuse by the city and it's contractors (Atlas in this case since it was one of their vehicles) they will continue to get away with it. By showing the HARD EVIDENCE of the offense as it was being committed the facts are verifiable and what they are, very clear.

  • Just because you can see the diesel exhaust does not mean it's any more polluting than gasoline engine exhaust. All it means is that it is more visible. As a matter of fact, it has much less of an impact of air quality than gasoline exhaust. Don't be such a jerk. The truck is there to clean the street you live on and you're complaining because it's too loud and the driver isn't wearing ear protection? Don't you have anything better to do with your time?

  • @IbanezRokr City workers or sub contractors not allowed to violate city noise bylaws or provincial workers compensation regulations.

  • Typical jackass city employees.

  • @NerdyCanadian Actually it was a sub contractor for the city, but still the guy himself was at risk of hearing loss so I was doing him a favor pointing the noise bylaw violation to him. Saving his hearing. His choice if he acted on it or not.

  • who gives a fuk, ur just an old bitch who has nothing better to do

  • @uscgswimmer1 Wow, the intelligence and deep wisdom of your eight year old kid insult is stunningly revealing.

  • it's a diesel you idiot, get a man's truck instead of drivin your little pussy hybrid

  • it's a diesel, what do you expect you idiot..

  • mountthor older street sweepers have a habit of making loud noise when the new street sweepers are quiet

  • @9751asd That may well be. City workers or sub contractors not allowed to violate city noise bylaws or provincial workers compensation regulations.

  • mountthor older street sweepers have a habit of making loud noise when the new street sweepers are quiet

  • so right..

i agree, he should be wearing ear protection. i believe they must have issued the foam ones, but he was probably lasy and didn't wear it.

i see garbage truck drivers with ear protection...

this thing sound like ur in the middle of a commercial construction with multiple crews doing their thing.

this thing their thing.. u know what i mean lol.

the utility truck, and construction equipment like tools and etc. that's retarded. if i lived in a house, i'd be doing same thing u are.

  • Yeah but the garbage truck isn't over 90db! I know I've measured it! Besides that intermittent noise. Lawn mowers are also not that loud.

You've really got not idea how loud the noise from this wayward truck really was... that's why I used the objective measure of a decibel meter! It proves that the noise was too loud and beyond the safe limits for workers.

  • They are not permitted to make noise that violates the noise bylaws with unmaintained vehicles.

They are not permitted to endanger their workers.

They are not above the law.

Yes, 106 db noise hurts people!

Had it been just 80 db I'd not have posted the video, but the fact as seen in the video was that it was 106db about ten feet away makes it a noise violation and I have a right to complain as would anyone who chose to exercise their rights.

  • okay but i have to say where i live in get waken up by my garbage truck every garbage day and sometimes is a lawn cutting or tree trimming company. they are allowed to make noise at starting at 7:00 in the morning. this bylaw is like jaywalking its not enforced and it doesnt really hurt anyone, you choose to live in a urban sprawl city. what you should do is use the reader to catch those bikers that rev their engines. i hate those guys.

  • i think you have too much time on your hands. By the way commercial city autos are exempt from most bylaws like they can stop at bust stops

  • You make a video collecting the evidence of a noise crime and happen to be equipped with a decibel meter and people freak because I have too much time on my hands. It's not like I'm out there day after day chasing down these assholes sean91993. This bastard woke me up with his noise violating machine. If HE hadn't woke me up with a vehicle that violates the noise bylaws I'd have not needed to file the complaint now would I?

  • These vehicles are NOT exempt from the City Noise By Laws nor the Workers Compensation Rules designed to protect the hearing of the poor bastard who was driving it.

  • It's funny that none of you who complain that I'm an idiot for making this video fail to have any compassion for the blue collar worker, aka the poor bastard, driving the darn fucking machine. Obviously you don't care about him at all nor for his hearing that is being damaged by the machine with 106db 10 feet away from it. Imagine what the volume inside the cab is? 120db? Over 90 is damaging to his hearing!!!

  • Oh, and as the video shows he wasn't wearing hearing protection! That means that Atlas and the City are responsible for his hearing loss incurred sitting in the infernal machine all day cleaning the streets. It's also clear that other street cleaning machines are not so loud as they are well maintained. Atlas and the City of Vancouver need to get their act together and prevent noise pollution by following their own fucking rules and bylaws as well as the Provinces.

  • @sean919993: Things that work for the city tend to be immune to laws in general. Loud trucks, police cars with headlights out, police can beat or kill people without even getting fired.. this is government your dealing with. Government is essentially an hypocritical anarchist community that respects no laws but forces everyone with the use of violence to respect their laws. FACT.

  • Yea, that's why the hard evidence with the video and the decibel meter! It shows what happened in objective reality. There is no denying that that vehicle was outside the Workers Compensation rules in BC. Atlas and the City of Vancouver are clearly in violation of many laws: noise and health and safety laws. Possibly pollution laws as well.

Yes, what you mention is a serious problem with even the best forms of "government". We must do better.

  • you're from vancouver alright

  • Actually I'm from Toronto originally with a detour in Edmonton for a decade and then from Vancouver for a couple of decades not to mention NYC, DC, and a host of other big American cities... In all those places I've never heard a truck so loud nor so early in the morning in a residential area.

  • u are a knob like who goes up to someone doing their job and teells then their vehicle is 104db like he should of knocked u out. and how is he not susposto be spewing desial smoke into the air its a desial engine. its people like you who make everyday life harder than what it should be

  • The driver voluntarily exited his vehicle to talk with me. I didn't ask him to in any way. He wasn't wearing ear protection and was putting himself at risk driving a poorly maintained work vehicle. Atlas and the City of Vancouver are the ones making life harder that what it should be by using equipment that should be repaired or scrapped. He's lucky that that job is only seasonal since Atlas and The City of Vancouver are putting his hearing at risk in violation of city and provincial laws.

  • congrats homo u are so dumb. who goes up to a random person and says your vehicle is 104db like wtf. and how cant he put desial in the air its a desial engile like wow u r stupied he should of knocked u out right there your a dick. its ppl like u that make everyday life harder than what it should be

  • I was monitoring his vehicle to make a proper noise complaint to the city backed up with hard evidence of a video tape and a decibel meter. I didn't invite him out of his truck, he did that on his own.

  • you do reralive that u should shut the fuck up u dumb fuck go eat a big greasy cock like its ppl like u that make everyday things harder. like who goes up to someone and says your truck is 104 decibles. then u fo,low the guy while hes doing his job congrats faggot

  • Well kickinminnow you're quite the nasty piece of work.

Obviously you've got manhood problems since you're spewing venomous hate speech with your cussing. Great way to have a discussion there. Know we know what you dream of, big fat greasy ones.

  • @kickinminnow

Judging by your spelling (or lack thereof) complete lack of punctuation, troubling grammar etc that you are not out of bed at 7am. I'm guessing more like 12 noon as you reside in your parent's basement and eat Doritos and probably have a significant obesity problem that you would probably not enjoy having that ridiculously, illegally and unhealthily loud truck parked outside of your parent's home at 0730.

  • Hahaha, the only way you could be more of a knob would be if you were out there with a radar gun telling people to slow down...Knob.

  • why is the street cleaning truck just reving it ???

  • who cares does it matter to you you are up in my city they are up at 4:00 in the morning and noone cares

  • Well, I care about excessivly loud noise outside my window. The workers care that their hearing is in danger, or they should care if they knew. The city cares since they have bylaws against the noise, but then these are their trucks, or trucks subcontracted by the city, so they think they can get away with anything they like since when they make the rules they think they don't apply to themselves! Everyone should care that the law makers don't follow the laws they make!

  • mountthor you are a fag!!!!!! somthing is wrong with you in your head clown get a life

  • I have a life dude. If I'm a fag, syndicatemade it takes one to know one and it's good to know that your gaydar is working. Hope you have fun with the guys.

Hope you wear ear protection when working with loud equipment.

  • You need to get a life.

  • Hi Mal454, Thank you for your negative opinion. I do have a life.

I'm attempting to do a service for hard working truck drivers who's companies fail to properly maintain their trucks and put their hearing at risk in the process.

During the winter storms here I saved one garbage truck driver from being iced in. I chopped up the ice with my shovel that enabled the driver to get his truck out after he tried with sand, snow shovels, chains for over ten minutes.

I am a friend of truck drivers!

    ;)

  • Two of my brothers operated a moving company across Canada with over 50 trucks for many years and they'd never have allowed their trucks to sink to the low level of maintenance as the one in the video. It's not to say that all their trucks were new, most were not and thus they took pride in their maintenance capabilities as that is what prevented accidents and problems while drivers were on the road. Owning a truck fleet or even one working truck needs to be a taken as a serious business.

  • ur a fag...do the world a favor and put a bullet in your head

  • I'll be amending my complaint to the police with your details "harchowen".

Making death threats isn't appropriate nor are hate speech acts such as yours and the other guys.

You need to get a life.

  • it wasnt a death threat moron...i was telling YOU to kill yourself...and you should make a video of yourself filing this complaint to the police, just so i have something else to laugh at....

  • ok, whatever. I've taken it as hate speech and a death threat bozo since it incites violence.

You're a real masculine man who can't handle real life with no consideration for others such as the workers who go deaf as a result of unsafe equipment such as the truck in the video.

Can't see why you'd not want workers to be safe while they work?

The driver wasn't even wearing hearing protection and the noise was way over the safe working limit of 85dbs! 106db is too loud.

    Get a life harchowen.

  • Google returns over 1,390,000 pages for "worker hearing loss" including this for BC:

"Part 7 of the Occupational Health and Safety Regulation requires that the noise

exposure be reported for all workers exposed to sound levels in excess of LEX = 85

    dBA." -

From the Work Safe BC Hearing Loss Prevention program.

The measured levels here are 106!!! Definitely over the limit and a serious problem.

Protecting YOUR hearing while YOU work also protects the hearing of the general public.

  • you should be strangled for being such a weirdo pussy and that decibel sensor shoved in to your ear canal, stop bothering people who work for a living, if the noise bothers you so much then do everyone a favor and kill your self!!!

it's psychos like you who torcher people in their basements because you need to control shit and get a sense of satisfaction by influencing peoples lives, PLEASE KILL YOUR SELF

  • You do know that making death threats is illegal Mark T Sheppard? You do know that right? I'll be reporting you to the police.

Ah, it seems that the evidence is that YOU are the psycho Mark T Sheppard for posting death threats.

Obviously I'm supporting working people by showing how the city violates their rights by not providing a safe work environment.

How many working people have injured hearing due to unsafe working conditions on the job? Too many!

    Seek mental help marktsheppard.

  • Hahaha you will be reporting him to police hahaha...Do you really think the police will give a dam about someone posting that on the internet? Hahahaha

  • Actually they are very interested and can easily track the ip address to the source since YouTube and IP providers keeps log. It's done already.

  • "Threaten death or bodily harm

Under the Criminal Code, it is an offence to knowingly utter or convey a threat to cause death or bodily harm to any person."

  • Those "dirty" diesel engines actually produce less carbon monoxide than your car. Of course they make noise. It takes horsepower to turn those brushes keeping your street clean. If they weren't out there, you'd brobably be bitching about your dirty street. Get a life!

  • Thank you, I have a life; it was interrupted by this noise violator running amok in a residential neighborhood at ~7:30 to 8:30am in the morning! As I said already I've never heard one of these trucks this loud. I've always been fascinated with street cleaning trucks since I was a young kid so I know how loud they should be! This one, and likely others from the City of Vancouver's contractor Atlas, REQUIRES MAINTENANCE, OR DO YOU support improperly maintained vehicles on the road?

  • The City and Atlas waste the tax payers money with poorly maintained equipment and pretending that it passes sub standard inspections: it was measured at 106.6 DB! Literally deafening for the worker, it was spewing massive amounts of toxic pollution as seen and heard on the video.

Do your job: get your fleet of vehicles fixed City of Vancouver and it's sub contractors Atlas and the other guys too.

Less complaints = more time working.

  • I don't get you blue collar workers, you grip when people have valid complaints about your equipment that is also putting your own health at risk. Learn to think man. Get the frigging truck fixed Atlas and you'd not have people complaining about your dangerously noisy and massively polluting machinery running amok in our residential neighborhoods at 7:30am in the morning. Learn some manners. Sheesh.

  • I'd let them do their job in front of MY HOUSE IF THEY had properly maintained machinery that was quiet like ALL THE OTHER street sweepers that I've ever heard from five to ten feet away. The driver of this street sweeper will have ear damage as a result of the poor maintenance that Atlas performs on their own Atlas Truck 57. The City of Vancouver is also liable for the hearing loss of the workers who were NOT wearing hearing protection on this >106 DB machine! So get the truck fixed!

  • get a life let these guys do their job. you guys bitch when the streets are dirty then you bitch when they get cleaned. you waste so much of tax payers money and the citys time leave them alone
