Im 19 and straight edge in college and in Oklahoma. There is no straight edge scene here. I know one other straight edger. We are straight edge cause we saw how shitty this world is when people drink,smoke, or drugs. So we decided to help it not help destroy it.

Sorry for commenting 2 months late on your post, but I slightly disagree with this whole vegan / vegetarian thing in straight edge. To me its just not an "essential" part of "beeing straight edge".
I tolerate people who go vegan and I have great respect for them, but to me, this just isnt an essential part, as mentioned before. Beeing SE means to me, that I am who I am, myself. Lots of my friends mock me, because I don't drink with them, but hey, I am cool with it.

I have lost count as to how many "christian" kids I've seen go out and get high, get drunk, fuck anything with the opposite genitalia, and then go to church the next day and bash me for being atheist. My number one problem with religion is that everyone is a fucking hypocrite. They say I'm going to hell, even though I'm living a more "virtuous" life than they are.

It could be an X, a Q, or a picture of spaghetti, the point is that the letter X represents something real, which is a person's dedication to a drug free life. The emotion invested is not in the letter, it's in what the letter represents. If you were truly using logic you would have determined that before posting anything.

I'm edge, but at the same time I think it's retarded as balls. I know SO MANY kids who say stuff like, "Yeah, I'm so edge man, I'm so hardcore, edge til death" and then go roll up a joint and get wasted. No drugs, no alcohol, no promiscuous sex. Edge is a lifestyle still. I'm not SxE, but I'm working towards it. I just got sick of what I was doing and look to have friends with morals and integrity. I've separated myself from a lot of the people I used to hang out with and the edge is all that matters now.

However, there is a high concentration of people that are edge in the scene and surrounding myself with the right people makes all the difference. Sorry for commenting 2 months late on your post, but I slightly disagree with this whole vegan / vegetarian thing in straight edge. To me its just not an "essential" part of "beeing straight edge".
I tolerate people who go vegan and I have great respect for them, but to me, this just isnt an essential part, as mentioned before. Beeing SE means to me, that I am who I am, myself. Lots of my friends mock me, because I don't drink with them, but hey, I am cool with it.
