@MaistoHelix Many things come off the orbiter on purpose at launch. Many thruster rain covers on the fwd and aft come off by design, vapor barriors in the ET tank umbilical area come off and hydrogen burn indicators come off near the aft along with some unwanted ice and foam.

Thank you NASA for postponing the launch! It would be heartbreaking to see another shuttle go down especially on its last mission. I will miss that massive beauty that is the space shuttle but I know that all of you at KSC will develop something outstanding!

We are riding colossal, controlled explosions to perpetually fall around our Earth's center of mass! Not only that, but we have built a house-sized artificial moon that six people live in (ISS). Amidst all our metaphoric (and literal) poo-slinging, I'm looking up, and hopefully more people look up soon.

Sadly, we'll be waiting a long time for a new vehicle, with the cancellation of the Constellation program, which *was* supposed to be the replacement for the Shuttle. Once the last flight of the Shuttle lands later this year, barring a major miracle, the US will be *OUT* of the manned space flight business.
