  • He sounds more like a mix between Dio, Rob Halford, & Michael Kiske all mashed up.

  • I have to say, if I could sing like this I wouldn't be a plumber lol

  • ripper owens number one !

  • Ripper is one of the best metal singers of all time. He is simply incredible!

  • we all love halford but RIPPER, the dude omg just sings it perfect, don't get me wrong i am not a fan of him. but he is very good in this video. he gave me a chill

  • <3

  • we all love rob but tim rocks

  • Ripper is actually pretty good. Good singer. Halford fits better with Priest, but Tim is great.

  • Ripper is one of the all time greatest !!!

  • ripper's a fucking beast. i've followed all the members of priest, and he has some great music.

  • no one like halford but this guy is good

  • what a singer!!!! 98 Live Meltdown is one of my favorite live records ever.

  • Halford is the best...

  • Killer. Ripper kills this song.

  • fuckers you just used to hear a Halford in priest but tim is great.........

  • my mom went to school with him in akron and were good freinds.

  • at 2:45 is Rob Halford standing in the first row

  • Great voice, but he's nothing compared to Rob.

  • @DemonLDR When Rob could still sing. Ripper has kept his voice is good condition throughout the years where as Rob has become weak. Rob is older than Tim so I guess we'll see in a few more years how Tim turns out.

  • @Shun101010 Have you not seen any of the 2011 tour? Robs voice is pristine. He sounds just as good as ever, with perfect vocals. I have nothing against Tim, he's a great vocalists. However, he just doesn't have the passion Rob has.

  • @DemonLDR Passion for singing or for metal? In case you forgot, Rob had 2 shitty solo albums that sold nearly no copies and then he came running back to priest. Tim is loyal to the metal community and he really loves what he does.

  • @Shun101010 actually halfords first album with FIGHT sold better than either of rippers albums with priest. I think ripper is an amazing singer but he can't write music for shit

  • @DemonLDR That said, I think Rob is better in Priest but I like Tim better in other bands.

  • халтура свадебная

  • This is awesome.Tim (RIPPER) IS FUCKIN BAD ASS AND HOT TOO !!!!!!!!!

Alot of the high note he sounds just like Rob Halford....

  • You people dont know what the fuck your talking about Robs voice is so melodic hes so much more smooth and hes Rob Halford for a reason this fucking guy couldnt hold a candle to rob and we all kinow what did you all go to school with him!

  • what is the name of this dvd. Please Answer

  • as much as i love rob, and as his "lyrics, as unpracticed as Tims'" are. I love tim's shit. Rob hits the shit, but is just not as practiced as TIm. if you're a singer you know what i'm talking about

  • the end of the song is exelent!!

  • only song i that i like more in ripper's version than in rob's.

  • Somebody misspeled his name --> it's Tim Ripper Owns

  • Halford is a legendary vocalist that i really love but i prefer this version of Diamond and Rust with Ripper. Dunno but his voice just fit the song more

  • Halford sucks sure he can wail like a woman but he has no tune. Ripper brings melody to this song and makes it so much better.

  • @Harleysvideos You are very right!!!!!!

  • Halford smokes Ripper a new A hole. Halford is the best.

  • It's "I 'll be damned" not "woal be damned" Rob's version is better, if you can't hear it, you re deaf

  • First things first...Halford sings this in English....

  • Ripper > Halford

  • Tim is great singing Diamonds and Rust but in my opinion Halford is a god. He sings it with incomparable feeling. Tim has a great voice but he lacks that thing that goes to the heart of the audience.

  • pqp esse ripper é mto bom!!!

  • 2:03 WOW

  • never heard this one, with Ripper Owens... nice

  • What are you all talking about? Ripper owens sings every priest song a key lower than Halford you fucking idiots!!!

  • esse ripper é foda no vocal,o cara arrebenta mesmo...

  • RIPPER FTW

  • fuck

  • Best version of this song I bet...fuckingawesome vocals

  • I love halford but this is the best version of this song hands down

  • I have been a fan of Tim since i first heard him on Jugulator, and I think he is one of my favourite metal singers. I've listened to him with Iced Earth, Beyond Fear, Charred Walls of the Damned, Malmsteen, Winters Bane and his solo album. It's true he has certainly been heavily influenced by Halford, but he definitely has his own unique style and sound. And to say he sounds like a cliche metal singer is ridiculous. He is by far one of the metal vocal greats.

  • I been a priest fan for over 25 years....My take on ripper Owens, and why he'll never be considered truly great. No originality or creativity. he'll belt out the notes, even better than past or present halford, but being a great singer is more than notes. Just like any Instrument, did you create anything new or have you're own style?....Halford did, Plant, freddie mercury, any true great has originality. ripper doesn't. He sounds like a Cliche metal singer.

  • actually all this bitching about rob and tim is just sad.

just listen to the song and enjoy tims voice or fuck off and listen to a version with rob. they are both very talented singers and great in theyre very own way...

and to all those, who somehow think that their comments about 'how better halford was and is' are nessecary: do it better or stop posting...

  • tl;dr

  • LOL what is better? "Woall be damned..." learn to speak first

  • I don't fucking care what people say, this is way better than Halford ever could be.

  • @Harleysvideos Now...lets see.when Owens came to the band they drop the tonality 2 semitones down, why was that? It s simple...because this guy can never be as good as Halford, he is a good singer indeed, but people calm down...When Rob was at Owens age his voice was molten steel...even now the Ballad version of Diamonds and Rust with Rob is better, doesnt need special knowledge, just ears....

  • @Sermonized747 actually they dropped 1 semitone... and I can assure you its not because Owens cannot sing the priest songs in the original key... They did it because they wanted a heavier approach to their music(as indicated on both Jugulator and Demolition) as most of the bands did back in the mid 90s... As for the ears thing.. I find this version of Diamonds and Rust to be superior from the newest Halford version in rising from the east(if I'm correct) as you say... just ears..;)

  • @NeueRegel1 Dead on brother.

  • @NeueRegel1 No, they dropped 2 semitones

  • @Harleysvideos sad but true!

  • owens is the elmer fudd of heavy metal

  • sounds just like rob halford

  • @kittycat590628 you must be tone def

  • But halford's songwriting is never surpassed by anyone

  • both singers are unique

  • He sounds like Halford, or even better than Halford now. He looks better Halford. He is not a fag. Fuck! Ripper should stay in this band.

  • Diamonds n metal.....up yur AYSE!!! oh hell yea \m/

  • The best version for me of Diamonds and rust is this, with Ripper Owens.

  • fuckin love this song and Ripper fuckin owns it \m/

  • Holy hell! That was amazing!

  • I'm a massive Rob fan, but good on Owens this was amazing!

  • @TheMosseh **ROB HALFORD*** the BEST GUY ON VOCALS

  • When will Ripper get the big break he deserves. He can sing a million times better than and pop act of tody. I liked Charred Walls, but he still needs more credit.

  • RIPPER is the shit. But so is Halford. Love em both!

  • Great! What a world away from his grungey excursions with JP!

  • so powerful......

  • exelente ripper owens!!!! me encanta esta version

  • No one, including Tim is trying to say someone is better than Rob. But shit give credit where credit is due. No one is trying to say that they can equal Rob but to coem close is pretty fucking awesome

  • fuckin' awesome ballad

  • Ripper singing on Jugulator and Demolition is ok to me. But hearing him butcher the classic Judas Priest songs is a different matter. You can clearly hear how much inferior to Halford he is... In EVERY aspect.

  • at 1998 he did this better, more power!

  • This is the one Ripper gets better with his voice now!

I think best version ever of this song

  • This is the one Ripper gets better with his voice now

  • maybe the ripper isn't as great as halford (is very close but...) but I'm sure he is SUPERIOR to dickinson

  • @gunsdf hahahah you're so fuckin funny.. make another joke

  • @achalaymatt dude bruce cant sing for shit now

  • 8 deaf!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • How the fuck can you not like this?! Those 8 who Disliked this video are people with major brain damage caused by to much jacking of to that faggot Bieber!

JUDAS PRIEST IS THE FUCKING GODS OF METAL!

  • I shaked hand with Tim Owens!!! :D

  • The Pride of Akron, Ohio !!!

  • @afireinside44203 im from around dayton/cincinnati!

  • I prefer rob halford because the Metal God!

  • wow!!! dreams can come true!

  • Those Ripper yells at the end make this song a million times more awesome

  • @scret9 when i choose to hear this version i only choose it because of those epic screams at the end !

  • This song, Ripper does better than Ralford, and I liked the version with him.. is more like the Joan Baez

  • Best performance of this song i've ever heard, hope tim gets with some decent songwriters soon or he'll be such a wasted talent.

  • Ripper has clearly and true heavy metal vocals.

  • unbeliveable,,

  • While I prefer Rob Halford on the whole... I must be honest... Tim Owens has an amazing voice that I cannot personally fault.

  • @FilmRangers Agree 100%. The only thing thats ever put me off Owen, is the fact that he joined Priest. Priest are nothing without Rob. I was so pleased when Rob reunited with Priest. All these years, and still making great music.

Sorry Tim, but you could have never replaced Rob

  • what dvd is it from??

  • Both Rob and Tim are awesome vocalists, but i prefer Tim's voice,i think there's more emotion in his voice and style.

    Awesome band,awesome performance :)

  • great job but i wish they'd play this song (with Owens or Halford) the electric, upbeat way the album version is instead of acoustic. I like this version, i just wish they'd do it both ways cuz it would be cool

  • true that Halford and Ripper both rock but Halford's got the ubercool voice that Ripper can never achieve. Rob is Judas! Ripper is Iced Earth!

  • @GrimRipperSociety True but he was good replacement for the time.

  • Barlow is Iced Earth. Ripper ain't shit. He's a lovely vocalist who never found some good song writers to form a band with.@GrimRipperSociety

  • Thank the Gods there are the Ripper Owens' of the world out there - otherwise with Simon Cowell and the like, we would have everyone sounding like a bad Stevie Wonder parodies...

  • But the intonation is an optional?

  • Beyond the realms of well done. That last belting of "Diamonds and Rust" nails it big time. ROCK ON!

  • Good halford replacement

  • Cool.

    Not worst than Rob.

  • I love his voice!!!!!!

  • First heard this song, by Joan biez in the film 'Eulogy' , great but then I heard Priest do it. WOW

  • Perfect! Powerful voice! Ripper,Ripper!!!! \m/

  • ripper fucking rocks

  • Tim Ripper Owens, Ciudad Juarez Mexico, 22 Mayo Estadio Cartablenca.

  • @vigoraelectronic yea ya compre el boleto

  • @vigoraelectronic compa ahi estuve y estubo chingonsisimo, lastima de la respuesta de la gente que no conocia bien el trabajo de The Ripper

  • owens is good but i hate the acoustic version, halford's version in the unleashed in the east live album is the best for me

  • uk what?...fok! sum bands havta fill shoes.ripper rokd my ayse compared 2 van halen (fok eddie)he pissd it all away....david;sammy;valerie....FACT! other than bruce dickenson and brian (for acdc)....oh yea..and my boy;ronnie james....there aint 2 many fokers that will fill shoes n rok us like we want! just enjoy n rok on my brothas!

  • What about the feeling? this guy does not get me deep inside and rob does. There will never be a singer like him. NEVER!

And I'd like to see too many singers singing as well as rob when they're almost 60.

  • @ROSALOBA is that a gay joke? Because if it is, it isn't funny :/

  • wow. i did not expect him to be this amazin. first time i heard him, n hes amazin

  • see 4 octave wonders Pt. 3 - Rob Halford

  • this is nowhere near as great as R. Halford's versions (acoustic, original, and live). Tim Owen's version is not bad, but it's nothing I'd download or listen to in the car... This version is sort of like what I'd expect to see on American Idol.

  • Friking OUTTSTANDIN!

  • All those who think that Ripper is better than rob.....go and check this out......

Ripper is one of best vocalist in metal history but rob is the best.

    All hail metal god!

  • Am I the only one who think that Tim's vocals are much more interesting than Rob's?..

  • @Shtrudell not the only one:). die hard Judas fans will probably hate me, but I think Rob has never even come close to the level of Tim's Diamond and Rust rendition.

  • even though the albums Tim made with Judas aren't something special( Demolition is quite good ) he performed very good live with the songs of Halford era like this one. sometimes he lacks stage performance movements but he has a great voice

  • this is my sisters dad

  • FUC-KING A-MA-ZING VOCALS!!!!!!!

  • @Zoso0201 I agree so much!.... :)

  • @Zoso0201 Have you heard of a man named Rob Halford?

  • Halford is with no doubt the best metal singer ever - but I must say that Tom is doing really well in this one

  • im sure you will find out his mane is tim, not tom

  • Haha my bad :> But why are you talking about his mane?

  • @0sk4rb Mane...lolol...excellent comeback bud

  • Haha

  • I kinda lost Priest during the "Ripper" years. I bought Jugulator but can't name any of the songs. I saw them perform live in a small venue which was nice to be that close and personal with Priest.

I didn't know they performed this acoustic version with Ripper; thought it was a Halford thing when he returned.

Anyway, I liked the song.... thanks for posting.

  • i like tim ! better the halford

  • amazing!!

  • no one can sream better!!!

  • Take Halford even 10 years ago and he would put Ripper to shame. Besides, Ripper's screams seem a bit forced - Halford could do them with ease.

  • @Eliskoopa Compare this to videos of Halford doing it more recently. I love Priest with both Halford and Owens, but I'm bound to say that I prefer Owens' take on this song.

  • I think Halford is still better than Tim - and I'm not talking about "who can scream higher and louder", because Halford is 15 years older than Tim and naturally he is not able to hit these notes like he used to even 10 years ago. But Halford's got charisma and talent - he knows how to sing and how to write. Ripper is just not original, his singing lacks real emotions and strong melodies.

  • Ripper is an american, what an emotion can one expect from an american. But stil he has stronger voice now than Halford, but it's Rob who is a legend and always will be.

  • Ripper is good. Halford was good.

    I rest my case!

  • Shit, i like Jugulator somewhat, but I regret Judas Priest ever hiring Tim... He is a decent vocalist, but he lacks real talent and charisma. He just butchers every classic Priest song. Especially this. He sings like a total redneck... I think what he needs to do is find an identity of his own, because right now he is just a worse Halford clone. Sadly, he does not possess a fraction of Halford's songwriting skills.

  • Freaking AMAZING! I love Halford but Ripper is just blowing smoke here man. Killer!

  • amazing vocals, i prefer rippers vocals for this song then rob's. also love the acoustic version with rob, so both are badass

  • @jabdj666 i'm totally with you, Ripper just adds another dimension to a great song. Oh and I'm a Rob Halford fan too. I like them both alot though.

  • best version ever

  • Halford is a legend, but Tim really rips this one up, kick ass !!!!

  • It is not "ripper" sing

  • great versions...for many better than halford's

but for me you cant compare them...halford is the history of metal!! maybe owens range is bigger

but this is not the only thing that counts when you are singing a song...it is range but mostly soul and feeling...and in halford's unplugged version you can see that ...rob halford will always be the 'god of metal'

  • HOLY SHIT! that fucking AWESOME!

  • 2:54 just gets me pumped every time i hear it. awesome!

  • God Bless Ripper an excellent vocalist though he ain't RH.

  • its from demolition live dvd

  • why did he drop the song down a whole step? he could have belted out the higher notes

  • Tuning everything down was the bands decision, not Tim's. He could've done it higher but the band wanted a heavier feel.

  • Ripper is quite good, but Halford is,and always will be no1 at Judas Priest!!

  • haha i just met this guy the other day he lives right by me

  • R-E-S-P-E-C-T

    Now that's serious cover !

  • Ripper's pipes are so xint

  • es increible, respeto a halford como a dios pero con los años las cuerdas vocales pierden y tim nos daria esos tonos que nos daba el maestro haldford y ahora no puede

  • Is this off a Live DVD or something? I'd love to pick it up if it is. Love Priest, and Love Ripper.

  • live in london i think!

  • its from live in lodon judas priest dvd
