no. fps does not equal speed of the video. fps is the number of images displayed in a second. 1000 fps means you see 1000 images every second, at the speed of the event in realtime. because there are so many frames, you can slow it down enormously, while still keeping the animation smooth (a movie is really an animation using photographs). You could record it with a regular camera, and you COULD slow it down to this speed also. However it would be incredibly choppy. Hope that helped!
