Foreigners to the english language often make a great deal of mistakes, both in written and spoken forms. From my observations, we (english) spot these mistakes all the time, but we don't correct them as the foreigner is often understood. This is perhaps due to native english speakers hearing foreign accents all the time. It is a shame that the opposite is often not true for native english speakers conversing in other languages, at least in my experiences (swe/ger).

You are so correct! Whenever I try to speak to my Swedish friends in their language, they will sit there trying to correct everything I pronounce. It's really annoying and it discourages me from speaking it to them.

After reading a lot of comments by Swedes on True Blood videos I've sadly developed a pretty pathetic impression of Swedes who watch the show. Most don't give them any credit to the English speaking actors for at least trying to speak a language that is pretty different from their own, instead all they do is say how awful it is and how they shouldn't even bother.

At least they're trying to speak Swedish, arseholes.

@The505Guys I think it's because Swedes rarely get the opportunity to do so (since Sweden is kind of ignored otherwise), so to some Swedes it may feel good to feel "on top" for once. That's how I feel about it anyway, and I'm Swedish too. Of course, kudos to the people who try to speak it, but as I said, we rarely get to be "special" in that way that we understand something that other people don't, so I think that's why people become so eager to voice opinions :)

Also I don't think Sweden is being ignored at all (as what he said). I've heard that people around the world feels Swedes to be ignorant themselves and I think it's true in a way but those who are not are actually the nicest people in the world.
