  • Legionnaire here, i take it that was a good night you had whilst makeing this vid. Any how give myself an e mail and lets chat. im fed up with pretend legionnaires.

  • @tonz002 - Hey! How can I help?

  • @hugglebear69- Hi there, I would like to join the legion and I know pretty much about it but there are 2 things what I dont know! How long have you wait if you would fail on one of the test, no matter witch test? Is it possible if you can keep your original nationaliteit (in my case Dutch). Already thanks for your help! Keep up the good work!

  • Hey I just wanted to say that your videos are much, much appreciated. 90% of the material on the internet regarding the Foreign Legion is unbelievably biased (to one side or the other), and it's great to see a more neutral opinion here. I can't stress that enough.

Will fluency in French help at all in terms of selection? I speak the language quite well and I love France.

  • So can they actually beat you for misbehaving or messing up, or is that a myth?

  • Hey Mate,

I'm seriously considering the legion and I've got a couple of questions that I'm hoping you could answer. My first question is; were there many Australians in the Legion when you joined, if so, how are they received by other legionairres? Secondly, what do you think you got out of it at the end and would you do it again if you had the chance?

    Much appreciated.

  • this guy is fake dont make me laugh you want to know what is like there show me some pics from Africa from Djibouti, from siera leone, from other places like chjad, srebrenica, kosovo you make me laugh

  • show me papers when you finished your 5 years of serving in FFL

dont believe anything you are telling right here

  • can you join the legion if you wear glasses,if so can you join the rep aswell being short sighted

  • For all of you claiming this guy is full of it, other legionnaires on various legionnaire forums have confirmed him.

  • Ou... And I forgot... ;) To your first so called "answer". You go there, do physical, psychological tests, medical tests and that you go throught "Gestapo"... If some of these you fail, you can pack your stuff and go and you DONT get any money...;) Second of all if you get there, they will open account on your name, will deposit money there(NO CASH EVER) and you will have limited access to it which is also monitored... Big withdrawal = Big questioning ;)

  • @neromtp - Hi! Thanks for you comment.

    1. You may, or may not be right with regards to money if you fail to get in. It was my understanding that those that didn't make it, were paid for the days spent there. Also, I often saw them filing one by one through the Pay Office. But hey, you're right, I don't actually know..... because I didn't fail!!!

    2. I also said most emphatically that "things change". How you get your money these days, I just don't know! What I do know is, how it was for me.

  • @hugglebear69 do they give you citizenship if you join france legion

  • @kurdkirkuk1 , only if you served 5 years or if your wounded in combat .

  • @neromtp I was there in 2006 ,but I failed because of a medical problem. They paid me 148 Euros for the 5 or 6 days spent there . So the guy is telling the truth and you are stupid :).

  • @neromtp That's what I was told, and he owns and wore a Kepi Blanc, now that's a sign he must of at least done the minimum 5 year contract......

Your right, because when your in the Legion, you don't really need to worry about finance because you will be fed, lodged and clothed courtesy of the Legion.Yes the diet may be low-calorie during training but boo hoo.....and if you do get posted anywhere, all your most likely to buy are a few drinks.

    I'm not a legionaire,Quatermaster NZ Army.

  • Hmm. Yeah maybe u look like kind of intelligent guy... BUT FIRST of all. If you want to lie at least learn how to like... Anytime you mention something what can be found on internet or in forums(what is commonly well know) you re clear you re ok meaning you are telling truth... Any time u mention what u have "experienced" your brain motoring center is working to make something up that your eyes keep on searching for some point down to the left... One brilliant sign of lies... ;) Ciao

  • @neromtp - Thank you sooo much for your enthusiasm ;-)

Have you been watching too much TV?

The problem with body language is that you CANNOT just take one expression to mean one thing. It's all about clusters of expressions!!!

E.g. A women is sat in a bar with her arms folded. Is she unreceptive to male advances? Or, is she just cold because the heating doesn't work?

I've made these videos about the legion, because it reflects my experience there! Take it, or not! As you wish! Good luck :-)

  • Your videos on the Legion are very interesting and informative.. A guy I know who was in the Legion mentioned to me some crazy punishment stories. I saw some user comments accusing you of falsely claiming to be an ex-legionnaire, however I see no reason why I should doubt you are.

  • You seem like an intelligent person. I know you probably would not answer my question but why did u join FFL?I was thinking about joining but my perception is that the only people that do join are people with not the best future perspective or direction.

  • @AKcib - Hi! Here's the thing..... You NEVER ask a Legionnaire WHY he joined!

Most people join for two reasons....

    1. Women (The broken heart is a classic).

    2. Money

Of course others join because of adventure etc..... But like you say, a lack of direction or perspective is often the case. Whatever the reason, a new life has begun and many don't wish to be reminded of the old one!

A criminal history happens less often these days, though you WILL meet a few "questionable" characters. :-)

  • @hugglebear69 Hello there. Im 21 years old, from Canada. I was looking to join the legion. I was wondering if you need any previous military service to join? I have none but i am physically fit and have been training, so that one day i may join the legion. I have no experience at all in shooting guns or anything, is that a bad thing? or do they train you once you join?

  • @suicidalemming - You sound like a perfect candidate to me! Don't worry, all training provided ;-)

  • Hi, hope you can answer me ...I wear presciption glasses like you do and I was wondering if it can be a problem with that during the course of selection..,,

    thanks

  • Im thinking of joining the legion but i havnt decided yet anything you can say to help me make the decision? do they have gyms on campus for the legion? thanks for your help

  • whats the best way you can request becomming a medic instead of something else like comms?

  • @spamllpitdept - Hi! If you have a recognized medical qualification before you join, your chances are better, but there are NO guarantees.

  • I have one question:

Regarding these holidays, is it 45 days per year or 45 days in 5 years?

  • @rgdegeus: It's 45 per year (see updated description box for the link)

  • What kind of tests are there math reading or logic?

  • What unit you serve with?

  • For reasons of privacy I have chosen to restrict certain information.

Some people choose to interpret that, as lack of proof...! I am not looking for fame and glory, nor do I have a need to be worshiped by the Youtube community.

I just want to share my experiences and perspective.

I hope you found the video informative.

  • hello, I read on the website about the sport test you take when you join, it seems pretty simple, like a few pullups and sit ups and climbing a rope and then running. Is it really that simple or how hard is it?

  • @jon805980 Hi Jon!

    Your right!

The test isn't that demanding. Like you said a few OVER hand pull ups, push ups etc... it's almost embarrassing! Though, I should add that climbing a six metre rope without using your feet can be quite a challenge for many. However I believe for the test you can use your feet, I don't remember! But thereafter...forget it!!!

This is the age of the Playstation, Coca Cola, Fat Ass Teenagers and yes... Youtube! Take my advice...GET OUTSIDE & train!!

  • pretty interesting....

  • Hi Sisqo!

What to take with you! Part 1.

Good question!!!! You need a valid passport and your washing and shaving kit! That's all!

The rest will be taken from you and put in bag, and locked away safely until you've finished training.

    Tips:

    1. Take a large bar of washing soap, (Savon de Marsielle or something similar, not washing powder). We had only the clothes (sports kit) we were issued with and had to wash them every evening and hope they were dry by morning! (only one pair of underwear).

  • What to take with you! Part 2.

    Tips continued.....

    2. Take some money with you! There may be a limit, I can't remember! You'll sometimes get the opportunity to go to the Foyer/ Shop, to buy cigarettes etc. If you're are a non-smoker, use this to your advantage and buy them anyway to resell later. Just like in prison, cigarettes bring a high price amongst recruits!!!

    Good luck!!! :-)

  • I am from Romania,have 24 ears.

So what do i need to sign up

I think i am ruff inough,i train a lot, i do MMA in a Gym in Spain.Thats where i live now.

So what kind of papers do i need.Passport,do i need money or some thing like that

    10x Hugglebear

  • A great video thanks for taking the time to go through those questions, the legion has been something I've put a good few months thought into (and I'll weigh it up after Christmas) but its very rare to get someone down to earth and explain the A-Z of the job. Thanks very much mate.

  • Between what years did you do service?

    Thanks

  • hey im 14 and i want to join when im old enough, how do i get involved? is there someone i call or do i sign up i live in america.

  • There's a whole section about the FFL on the French Embassy website (the one dedicated to the USA) you can google it. If you're american citizen and you have a passport you don't need a visa to come to France if it's for less than 90 days. As he says there's several recruitment offices, they are all on the embassy website you can google the addresses :) The closest one to Paris is indicated. Hope i helped, correct me if i'm wrong ;)

  • think things over again

  • Again, I really don't know what the Legion what the considers preclusive in this area!

    1. You are 30 yrs old, that's a negative!

    2. You have a medical condition, however mild. Another negative!

If you want to get in, then you'll have to make up ground elsewhere!

My advice is to stay where you are! You have a good job, why give it up? You already carry a gun on a daily basis and you probably get to use it more than you will in the Legion.

Of course I hope you never have to use it at all!!!

  • Hi,

I am 30 and thinking of joining.

    I have, however had a neck operation (C5 & C6) fusion.

Would you know if something like this would preclude me from selection?

I am told by my doctor that it shouldn't (I am an active police officer at the moment).

    Thanks.

  • Sorry I have no idea about dental plates!

  • Hi mate, Can you be accepted into the legion if you have dental plate...I have seen legion dental score card but does not mention plates. Please get back.

  • What U mean about Dental Score at Legion?

    Can U answer me ?

  • I just turned 30 and I want to go. All in all can you honestly say that your experience in the FFL was worth it? Why or why not?

  • Hello i am 18 i have been in legion when i was seventeen but i was missing 1/2 year do you think i have higher chances?? from psychological test i had 25/26 and my physic is in a good shape however i have a problems with my teeth :-/ and a bit problem with a knee but it is nothing i can do everything with it i mean i can run very good and is never sore just under the knee i have sort of bowl :D:D

  • What kinda Dental problem get u away from The Legion ???

  • Your English is fine.... Though at 29 you are no longer a boy, but a man!!!!

If you have special skills, then your chances are much better. You are competeing with 20yr olds.

If ten people get the same result, then they'll be looking at other qualities. Age and fitness ARE important, but not the ONLY deciding factors.

What else have you got to offer the Legion?

  • hey a am a norwegain boy 29,am i to old to join?i now you must be younger then 40 to join.but do they enlist boys as old as me or do they pick younger boys.sorry my english suck

  • Sir, what do the physicals and test consist of before you are accepted.

    Please respond asap.

  • fuck it I'm joining where in Germany is it :)

  • Timbuktu! Good luck :-))

  • thank you for your videos... next time you should comment about what should we bring with, when we will come to strasbourg... anyway good vid...

  • If I understand correctly, you would like a list of things to bring when you join the Legion? Easy answer... nothing but a valid passport! Oh yeah...! Bring a pair of Brass Balls while you're at it! You're gonna' need 'em.

  • Danke, sehr informativ :>

  • Bitte bitte!
