Today I've send this song to my old love, and the resuls were zero, no reply nor emotions, I can't believe it, is name is Bill. He is into Bob Dylan, he doesn't understand anything. I am not surprise.
Oh yes indeed, what a beautiful song and a very beautiful lady as well! Doris Day was the wife I never had! Poor me! At the old age of 53, I still love Doris Day! Thank you for posting Doris Day's beautiful music! A++++++++
No flashing lights, absurd costumes, backing tracks, robotic music, back up singers or pre recordings, just a wonderful voice and an even more wonderful woman.
Superb!!! Think this was the version she did with the great Andre Previn on piano. They did an album together called "Duet" but this track was'nt on it.
This is gorgeous. I had no idea she was such a great singer. Check out Dusty Springfield's live performance of this song (on her 1966 BBC show) for a completely different, powerhouse version.
Sha Na Na did a faster version of this song, which is barely recognizable at first. I really like both renditions. A great song regardless of the tempo.
This is a beautiful video. I remember when I was a kid, watching the Doris Day movies on TV. She was so beautiful and her voice so soft and articulate. This is probably the most beautiful song that I have ever heard her sing. I never heard it before. Another new one on Youtube. Thanks for posting.
Days' singing of this tune is even more effective than the larger one where she is backed by full orchestra. She is one of the most underrated singers I can think of....Perhaps because she makes it sound as if all she puts into her work is 'easy', which is quite different than being gifted enough to make it seem easy. Not only technically is she amazing, in so many ways she impresses me, especially her ability to wring out every ounce of meaning from the material,& to convey it as well.
One of Doris' most heartfelt performances, not only in the movie as Ruth Etting, but her vocal performance...haunting, memorable..one of the most beautiful songs of the 50's...thanks for posting..

The melody is very, very much the same as Brit composer Eric Coates, "Dambusters March." Different temp, same song I'd say. :)

Doris should've at least gotten an Oscar nomination for "Love Me or Leave Me"--she was amazing.
