  • khawboon main he ab to miltay hain.

Chehra o Naam Aik Sath Aaj Na Yaad As Sakay, Waqt Ne Kis Shabeeh Ko Khawb o Khayal Kar Diya

  • there are two types of rag vibhas one with komal dahiwat and othr with shud dahiwat ,but rekhab is komal in both vibhas rag mehndi sahib has used tiver rekhab also in this composition .but one thing is there he is godly figuir in music ,it is hurting me when ihear or read about his illhealth

  • A superb melody composed and rendered by Mehdi Hassan in Rga "BAKHZAR". Khalid Asghar (26 Oct 2010)

  • Don Mehdi Hassan Sahab the godfather sir.... if i die u die 2... the king love u for ever. god bless U kerel.

  • BABU ji se behtar koi tha ,,,na hy ,,,,na hi kabi ho ga ,,,,,ye aasmaan par tay ho chuka ,,,,,,,,we r lucky to have Khan sahib ,,,,,,,

  • Thanks *dams0001*, for your interest in Classiacl Raga. we should listen to the melody and the way, it has been rendered by the great MehdI Hassan. As regard, the word "KANARA", here i have written, is correct, as it's meaning is bank of river. Khalid Asghar.

  • Is it raag bhupkali?

  • @sufiyana1 It most definitely is raag Bhupkali. What a beauty by Khan Saab.

  • Dear *manosha52*, a YouTube channel, did you SEARCH with my name: Khalid Asghar, to find my 03 compositions in the voice of Mehdi Hassan. These are non-film items and extremely RARE. Plese examine the meoldies, well-knitted with orchestral arrangement. I invite to listen to these items for your pleasure and taste. Khalid Asghar.

  • Thanks *manosha52*, YouTube Channel for up load of this great item. I had listened this item up loaded by another channel. But this contains ALAP & other singing. Mehdi Hassan composed this item in Raga *BAKHZAR* a rare Raga. Generally singers do not know & its appliacation is very difficult. The descending notes are technical. Khalid Asghar, Former Station Director, Radio Pakistan, Lahore & Music Analyst. You can SEARCH, him on YouTube, with my name: Khalid Asghar & listen his RARE 03 items.

  • This is a finest, rarest, best combination of Raga, Music & Lyrics.

  • Salam aur Adab arz`hai

Shukriyah for the upload and do

    acknowledge my aprreciation for

    the transliteration and translation too.

  • (continuation)

Seek the spoiled pearl of fidelity strewn among people

And you may find this treasure among the wretched.

Neither are you God, nor is my love like that of the angels

Human both of us, why then so many obstacles?

Make the pain of life part of the pain of separation

Headier will the mix of the two wines be.

Today, neither am I, nor are you, nor is the time the same as that of the days of yore

We are like two shadows who meet in a mirage built of unfulfilled wishes.

  • Thank you, for sharing

  • Nice translation. This is one of the best piece of poetry I have ever come across in this context. And Mehdi Hassan awsome as ever.

  • @dams0001

    Thank you for translating!

    How true! How profound!

  • (continuation)

Gham-e-duniya bhi gham-e-yaar mein shaamil kar lo

Nasha badhta hai sharaabein jo sharaabon mein miley

Ab na wo main hoon na wo tu hain na wo maazi hain Faraaz

Jaise do sayen tamannaon ke saraabon mein miley

Though untranslatable like all good poetry, my humble effort follows:

Separated as we are today, perhaps we'll meet again in our dreams someday

Just as a dried up flower suddenly turns up inside a book.

  • Thanks a ton, Man!

Immortal ghazal, perhaps the best of Mehdi Hassan, set to the rare morning raaga Bibhaas.

Lyrics by the renowned poet Ahmed Faraaz - the second couplet is missing in this rendition.

Ab ke hum bichhre to shayad kabhi khwabon mein miley

Jis tarah sukhe huye phool kitaabon mein miley

Dhoondh ujrey huey logon mein wafaah ke moti

Yeh khazaane tujhe mumkin hain kharaabon mein miley

Tu khuda hain na mera ishq farishton jaisa

Dono insaan hain phir kyun itne hijaabon mein miley

  • Dear*dams0001*, a YouTube channel. i hope this melody has been composed is in Raga BAKHZAR. Please check and also confirm for my knowledge. i am Khalid Asghar, former Station Director, Radio Pakistan, lahore & Music Analyst. Please iof you find some spare time for good, then SEARCH with my name: Khalid Asghar. You will find about 40 songs in my voice and compositions.(17-09-209)

  • Thanks, sorry for the delay in getting back.

I'm not too sure of the raga - it sounded very similar to Vibhas/Bibhaas...check out (though the words are Kanara)

    /watch?v=VuQo3VDT0jQ

the similarity is unmistakable. Maybe most of the notes in aaroh and avaroh are common...

This one describes them in detail:

    /watch?v=NGQK8__MV5g

    there are others...

  • @dams0001 : This raga is "BAIRAGI BHAIRAV"

  • @embarq12 : i am inclined to agree with Mr. Khalid Asghar. Neither Bibhaas nor Bairagi Bharav agree completely with Bakhzar, though there are similarities. in fact i now doubt if this raaga gets by with any other name on our side of the border.

  • @dams0001 What we call this raag in India is Mangal Bhairav. However in avroha ( descent) mehdi saab has used both dhaivatas. So basically this is mangal bhairav. You can listen to Lata Mangeshkars marathi song in this raag. The songs is Malavoon taak deep. This is quite a famous song in Marathi with music by Hridaynath mangeshkar.

    Harish

  • @amrutvani2 Thanks for the information. Will check it out. Is it available out there on YouTube?

  • @dams0001 copy this :Malavun taak deep - Lata Mangeshkar

  • @amrutvani2

no it is not. mangal bhairav features M prominently. This raag does not. check again before giving comments.

  • @amrutvani2 true

  • @embarq12 ; somehow i seem to remember Mehdi Hassan himself mentioning in some programme that this was bibhaas; this live programme was then made into a commercial cassette available in India & hence the confusion. but i'm not entirely sure. besides many of his cassettes feature this song, so pinpointing the exact one is tough too.

  • yes it does sound like vibhas from bhairav ang with komal rishabh but this ghazal uses shudha rishabh...that is the difference...but its swaras are of raag charukeshi.....and chalan is like vibhas....:)...
