  • I'm so obsessed with keeping my ears clean I can't believe I didn't know this procedure existed. I wanna get it done. Although my ears are pretty damn clean.

    DFTBA. Love you Nerdfighteria.

  • I had to do this today... I feel like my ears have just seen light after 1000 years of darkness!

  • My name is Billy. I bet you read that with a southern accent.

  • i think that happened to me when i was little, i dont remember the horrible big needle looking thing, but i remember it feeling great

  • THATS SO AWESOME.... I have a strange fascination with earwax. But yeah, my friend had that happen to her and she said it hurt her ear really bad and she couldn't hear, and it was amazing when it came out. I was kind of offended that she wouldn't let me go to the doctors with her to see this procedure happen in real life... and she was thoroughly disgusted that I was offended.

  • I once had an ear infection that made me go deaf in one ear. I went to the hospital and they put a yanker sucker in my ear and sucked out 100mls of ear gunk. It was gross but majestic.

  • Last summer I had a ear irritation and I cleaned my ears out with a q tip like a derp and found that I couldn't hear at all. That was on a friday evening. I couldn't go to the doctor for two days after that and it sucked... I went and they cleaned my ears out. It seems that if you wear ear plugs or ear buds, or any other ear protection it can make it 10 times worse.. They cleaned out both ears and I could hear better then I did before I lost my hearing... I need to go do it again some time.

  • A few months ago, I was scratching my ear (as you do), and suddenly an object similar to the one in this video just dispensed itself FROM my year, landing on the floor. I was extremely confused, but realised within short time that it was indeed earwax. I had been swimming a lot the night before, so that may have caused it to happen

  • OH MY GOD IT'S HUGE

  • I had that done and it wasn't all that bad

  • Billy, Suzie and Tony should be in more videos!

  • I had that done! Man, that feels bad! Horrible, in fact. But the difference in hearing is incredible!

  • I had to have this done when I was like, two. The next time I saw the doctor that did the procedure, I kind of bite him. Lol, but I mean, what would you do? He stuck a syringe in my ear! What would your two year old self do? XD

  • Eww, the suggestions.

  • I had to do the same thing earlier today... It's really weird.

  • lol, I said aighaighaigh just before hank said it. Also, I was eating before watching this. Now I am not.

  • I kind of lost it when he said "Boogers and snot!" yes, I am fully aware of how immature I am lol

  • Ew. I've had this happen to me before

  • I love how Hank acts like Tony, Suzie, and Tony are real

  • I had this exact same thing done to me. But it didn't really help so they had to pull the ear wax out and it hurt. Not the best experience, but an interesting one indeed.

  • Bring back Tony!

  • I was eating ice cream when I started watching this video. I continued eating ice cream throughout the video.

By the way, your Suzie voice is adorable.

  • Tony: sup dude

    xD

  • However gross it was, I can just imagine how amazing your ear felt afterwards.

  • That Doctor was a natural vlogger

  • I watched the earwax come out over and over - it's so weird but you can't help but look.

  • I didn't close my eyes... XD

  • The thing that they had to do to get the ear wax out of his ear I had to get done to my ear to GT a large chunk of swimmers wax that got stuck in my inner ear

  • I totally didn't see this my first B2.0 go.

    Also ew.

  • Are the new viewers gone yet?

  • i didn't even know this could happen to someone....

  • IT'S HUUUUUGE!

  • It's huge! xD

  • when i was 10, my friends mum couldnt take her to get this done, so my mum did. being a little joker, i wanted to watch and make sound effects. i went in, giggling to myself, thinking i'd be the boss of my friend once i'd seen grossness come out of her ear. the tube thing went in her ear, and i began to make my awesome sound effects. then black gunge came out of her ear. the next thing i remember is lying on the bed in the doctors all confused, with my friend laughing at me :L

  • Someone can have that much wax in their ears? o.o

  • Yeah, I'll be skipping the de-earwaxification, thank you.

  • Tony's a gangsta. Also this makes me want to q-tip my ears

  • Suzie!

  • I've had the same operation. wow.

  • What? No Tony at the end?

  • Hank, I thought they took your brain.

  • I was eating dinner. I guess that I should have heeded the warnings

  • you should try ear candles. putting a tube in your ear and setting it on fire usually wouldn't seem like a wise thing to do, but it's quite effective. Once my brother found out he had a bug in his ear that way

  • @rappingbagel Oh my god, he had a bug in his ear?! Was it alive??

  • @lemonice2700 ha, no, that would have been even creepier!

  • I've had irrigation several times before and I can grossly assure you that I have more wax than that usually in my ears.

But hey, I can hear really well after the procedure!

  • My parents tried ear wax candles once and it really worked I'm still not sure how it worked though bc the ear wax was taken from their ears into the inside of the candle

  • I want my ears cleaned out now. I don't know why.

  • i had that done to me a few months ago

  • It has already happened to me, and it felt so nice! And I had WAY more earwax than that. My doctor kept shoving it in front of my face...Glad I've swiched...

  • This earwax removal thing reminds me when you go back to the eye doctor and get your eyes checked for the first time in a while, and you get your glasses back in a few weeks, and you put them on...and you can see.

  • I've had that done twice, and both times it caused me to kick the doctor doing it. Totally reflexive reaction.

  • This isn't that disgusting... I had to watch when my sister had her ear vacuumed out... When I was seven

  • thanks for spoiling it with the title

  • I have to say...I've had that irrigation before. And then I was like, "OH MY GOSH, I CAN HEAR!"

  • i had the same thing done to my one ear...it was completely blocked. one of the most interesting procedures i've ever had

  • I felt a growth in my pants when you were getting your ears cleaned _it was so funny i evacuated my feces)

  • I'm eating pancakes. Scared to continue on past 2:30

  • @AmandaHeartsJB actually, me too...

i think either it is weird or we have had an inspirational moment

  • I had to do this once when I was sick. My earwax looked like a toad.

  • Is it sad that these are exactly these types of answers I would get from my students?

  • Why did you assume that Tony was stupider than the other two? Tony clearly was smarter than the other two, he was just fed up with being in a class with two idiots and didn't care enough to try.

Also, why did the two idiots have southern accents? Or, at least Susie. I'm not sure what accent Billy had XDD. But ya, the southern girls' mom is the one that got out of prison? Jeez Hank, so much profiling in this video. Why couldn't the idiots sound like average people?

  • i have that done every year. and i think it feels great!

  • i had that done like 8 years ago.... all i remember is being bribed by my mom with a video game, more specifically a Hamtaro Gameboy Color game..... hoo haa NERDFIGHTER!!!

  • I had that done a while ago. It was not very pleasant, but being able to hear again afterward was such a weird experience, because you don't realize the little sounds you miss out on while your ear is plugged until they're back. like paper rubbing together.

  • I dont know why, but I've always been obsessed with removing ear wax. Look up videos, they are both disgusting and awesome.

  • They should do that regularly.........or tell us how to do it. I think my ears need some cleaning...

  • My ears have been waxy lately and I spent a good amount of time looking through all the old 2.0 videos for this one. Gross. I think I'm gonna do this.

  • is it just me, or does billy remind anyone else of jarjar binks? the voice?

  • oooh i've had that happen...it wasn't all that great....but then i could finally hear, so that was good xD

  • i had my ear vacummed once. pretty much the same as what u did but alot weirder. apparently they have to do that before they put a tube in your ear.

    -K

  • Sidenote: Learn how to speak.

  • Crap! This was on my birthday and i can't watch it cause it would make me puke!

  • For crying out loud! I wasn't expecting that much wax to come out. Could you hear at all prior to the procedure?

  • Billy Suzie and Tony had such a short career with the Vlogbrothers. I wonder what they are doing now?

  • Why the fuck wouldn't you give us a "money" shot.

  • ...I just noticed that the title card thingy says "Communcation"...

  • I love the "class" :D

  • when i wanna make my head lighter i just evict the voices for a while ^^

  • How very Ze Frank.

  • ugh, that looked like a roach

  • 41 vid cmnt

  • thats happenned to me, before i couldnt hear at all

  • cool. haha.

  • I loooove getting my ears flushed.

  • Cool! Its a piece of goo. Goop. Goopy substance. Yes. :)

  • sup dude? no. i don't think you can pull that off. you're a much better nerd. :)

  • Ahhh! I have to do that too! only they actually have to use a MACHINE to get mine out! it gets stuck into my ear and water plunges into my ear at high speeds and it REALLY hurts! I have irregular ear wax glands...

  • I like how he was like "OH MY GOD, I CAN HEAR!"

And watching that made my ear itch...

  • ive never had to do that in my entire life, surprisingly my sister had to have that done to her many times, and i've never actually seen the procedure until now... i've always wanted too... thank you youtube... thank you vlogbrothers :P

  • I've had that done several times. It's such a bizarre feeling.

  • My brother did that today!

  • Your ear... POOPED.

  • I have heard earwax helps to keep bugs from getting to our ear drum. Was there any bugs in that glob of gunk?

  • omg. that was like.....

A MINIATURE PERSON that was really disgusting, and made of earwax..

    WAS LIVING IN YOUR EAR!

EW. to have to go through that nasty-ness.. i hope you have bionic hearing now, and i wonder how bad your hearing was before.

    you must've been DEAF.

  • I didn't close my eyes - it was awesome!

  • psh you talk much faster than THAT

  • My goodness, how could you hear before that was removed?

  • why DO some little boys talk like billy? rofl!

  • Wow that was weird.

I hope your ears hear amazingly well now.

  • How Much Does That Cost? It Doesn't Look That Nasty, But

I'd Love To Get It Done .. It Looks Like You Could Get Really Clean! x]]

  • that was pretty cool. I've never heard of this, but i might ask about it next time im at the doctor....weird

  • I find it ironic that I want to be a doctor yet I'm squemish and closed my eyes during that... That was nasty. I'm not going to lie.

  • Sup dude....

  • I lol'ed. I was drinking milk when he said that and I almost spat milk on my computer moniter. <3!

  • haha i actually closed my eyes!

  • Holy Crap!~

  • lol I had that done to me before... at least I remember holding a bowl like that and having earwax removed.... so yeah same thing when I was young lol.

  • Hank, you should've been an actor!

  • ugh scarred fer life sorry dude

never gonna think of earwax removal the same way...

  • Yay hats!

  • wow lmfao

  • Gah! I can't stop repeating the clip where Hank says:

    "Using my wily ways,"

  • I've had that done before. Its not that bad. Although last time it made me suuuper dizzy, idk why.

  • my god thats a lot of earwax

  • dude, to you and people commenting: do you ever clean your ears? you all seem to need a docter to wash them out for you. which is sligthly odd...

  • urgg that was rank

  • Great characters added to a simply vlog topic.

This is really sick; although, a fellow teacher of mine has been showing students and coworkers an ear scab of hers for years now, and it is far larger than what was removed from your ear.

  • "IT'S HUGE!"

"Oh my God, I can HEAR!"

    xDDD I lol'd.

  • Oh my god, ick!

  • gag.

    I heart Hank.

    Still.. gag.

  • I think I need that done. Badly.

    ...does it hurt?

  • Totally random, I actually had to get the same thing done to my ear upon entry to the Air Force. I remember getting light-headed from all the hot water being rushed into my ear drum.

And yes, afterwards I could hear some of the tones only dogs can hear.

  • I've had that done before :)

The warm water felt good, lol

  • THAT WAS HUGE AND NASTY LOL

  • I personally didn't like the dress-up class idea, but that's probably just because i still have some blood in my veins that hasn't been replaced with awesome.

  • oh no. my name is susie.

  • oh gosh. i hope i never have to go through that! lol

  • I was absolutely thinking that what decreased your head weight was the lack of the multiple personalities, sitting on the couch.

    LOL.

  • i've had that done twice

    it hurts

  • Duuuude. That's awesome.

I want to go get that done now.

My ears feel really dirty after watching that xD

  • 'and tony'

    'sup dude.'

    LMFAO AHAHAH

  • 44. that was HUGE.

  • omg no lie... this happened to me! it was soo gross but my mom thought it was one of the funniest things in the world when all the earwax came out of my ear.. and i showed her this and she loved it!

  • this is sooo the best one at least top 10

  • 43: I demand more Billy, Susie, and Tony...especially Miss Susie.

  • I agree. I would love to see them come back. Especially Miss Susie.

Although, we are going to get to see him dressed as Carrie Bradshaw!

  • Ive had that done it hurts but feels kinda cool.

  • Did it hurt? I mean, it sounds like a good idea... Clean ears, like really clean ears sounds happy.

  • 39: A, Poor Suzie's mum.

2,AAAAAGHHH!!!!! GROSS GROSS GROSS!!!! *tears out eyes* THE IMAGE IS STILL THERE!!! AAAGGH!!

  • Eww!

  • Comment 38:

    Yuck. Just yuck.

  • Lols im rlly joking when i say this but why not take out ur brain?

  • I love going to that appointment.

  • My ears are feeling waxy right now...I wanna get that done.

  • I really hate earwax as well. I dont know why you tried to get rid of hair from your head but glad you got rid of the ear wax.

  • Wow Hank, uh, are you ok up there? What else did you have removed, a large chunk of your brain? Just curious...

  • I need that because my right ear clogs up an feels bad off and on all the time.

  • Mine is doing that right now. It hurts and I hate it.

  • This video has forever scarred me, every time someone mentions ears or earaches or ear gunk, i think of this video. It's too bad i like the vlogbrothers too much just to forget that I ever saw this video... and so now, I watch it again.

And now, watching it again... I'm just flabbergasted.

  • eww! I really want to get that done too!

  • I got it done. The first time it hurt a lot ( i was just a kid) but now i LOVE getting it done...though, it kinda feels like the water is coming out of your eyes because of the pressure lol That guy just used a syringe ...my doctor used this machine thing.

  • me as well. but i was 4 years old back then :D

  • when i went for my ears to be flushed out it felt so good

  • how does that even HAPPEN? wow! i guess not everyone is an obsessive compulsive ear cleaner like me, though. i need cotton buds on hand at all times.

  • Courtesy of Wikipedia (and many bio teachers) "A curette method is more likely to be used by otolaryngologists when the ear canal is partially occluded and the material is not adhering to the skin of the ear canal. Cotton swabs, on the other hand, push most of the earwax further into the ear canal and remove only a small portion of the top layer of wax that happens to adhere to the fibers of the swab."

  • yunni! :D

  • That syringe thing was what I used to clean out my dry sockets when I had my wisdom teeth removed...and what fun that was...

  • i had same procedure after i had gone swimming underwater and the pressure pushed the airwax deep into my ear canal. was deaf for like a week ! after the doctor put about 2 of those syringes into my ear, the third time a HUGS mass of earwax popped out into the bin and the sensation was amazing

  • OMG!

    that's a huge earwax

    use cotton buds next time

    LOL

  • bahaha... i was literally deaf in my left ear for 7 months, so i finally went to the doctor and they flushed my ears, too. i think the wax in my left ear was 3 times the size of hank's. so epic.

  • that not a earwax...

    that an embryo

  • Yeah, I had an ear infection once and the doctor used this tiny wire with a plastic tip on it to get the wax out. While he was doing it, I was digging my finger nails into my leg because it was so horrible (more like a form of torture than a medical treatment) Anyway, my mother started laughing and he looked at her and said very seriously, "This isn't a joke. It really does hurt like Hell." Sweet Vindication! I kinda started laughing. And then my leg started bleeding. =-)

  • OMG!

  • Dude, I need to get that done. I wonder if I can just walk into a doctor's office and me like "Hey! I need to hear!"

  • I feel like Tony isn't very loved.

  • haha!!! I had that same experience two months ago...and I think I had more earwax than you (in 1 ear!)...yeah, it was bad, I couldn't hear forever 'til it was removed.

  • By the way, some docs use a water gun that hooks up to the sink faucet to get the wax out. There's a part that pushes out water, and another part that sucks the water and debris (the wax...and other things that really shouldn't be in there) into a container. It's a little cleaner than irrigation.

Oh, and I really enjoyed watching that. :)

  • hahaha. I shouldn't laugh. Ears are my life! I see wax like that all the time. Wax forms in your ears as a protective mechanism. It's supposed to work it's way out, little by little, as the skin in your ear canal grows. Sometimes, this doesn't work and the wax gets stuck. The longer it's in there, the harder it gets, and then you get hard globs of wax that need to be removed by an ENT or an Audiologist (my chosen profession). Word to the wise: don't use Q-tips. They help push the wax IN.

  • he'd make an awesome teacher

  • that.was.disgusting.

i'm so glad i clean my ears regularly.

  • Dude! I did that once! And the lady that didit to me apparantly wanted to carve her name into my brain...my ear drums were very sore afterwards...as well as other things in my ears

  • I've had that same thing happen to me twice actually. The first time, I just kind of kept picking at my ear, and something kept getting caught on my nail. The more I pulled, the further out it came until finally it was freed! A giant ball of wax and blood and a tube they surgically placed in my ear from 9 years prior. I don't trust ear, throat, nose specialists anymore.

  • I've had that done... Weirdest sensation EVER.

  • That challenge is pretty much a punishment without cause. Haha

  • As soon as I saw that, my ear started to hurt
