Hell! Even Shawn had to job to Hogan when Shawn didn't want to. And this is HBK we're talking about. If HE couldn't get the storyline changed, what chance does a midcard guy have? Everyone remember the match between he and Hogan where he oversold like hell because he was mad at what Hogan had demanded the storyline/match be? Why didn't Shawn go to creative then and get it changed since all it takes is "initiative?" Because it has more to do with polictics, and no one knows that better than HBK.

Shawn is mistaken. Yes, I'm sure you can pour your heart out to creative about what you'd like to do, but they don't have to approve it. And what do you think will happen if a low/mid card guy goes in the ring and does something unscripted? They will fire him as soon as he gets backstage. Years ago Ms Jacqueline said "you give them great ideas for your character/story, they take those ideas & say "we love this, but not for you." Two things need to happen in order for things to get better in WWE. I absolutely agree with Shawn. The talent needs to take initiative. That's first and foremost,because the Creative Tea, can write the storylines for you, but they can't get in there and wrestle the matches for their midcarders. They have to do that on their own and learn to get over as wrestlers. But secondly the Creative Team has to spend just as much time working with the midcarders as they do the main eventers. Nuff said.

The crowd was so dead during the Rumble that they only cheered for the main eventers, and upper midcard players along with the vets and old tymers. They didn't give a fuck about guys who are struggling to get over and establish an emotional connection with the fans like Ezekiel Jackson, Ted Dibiase Jr and ugh Jason Gabriel.

It's not just the talent taking intiative yo. The Creative Team needs to spend more time helping out the midcard wrestlers with their characters. They need to spend as much time as possible helping the midcard wrestlers figure out their character along with helping them understand the storylines that they're involved in as they do with the main event guys and their storylines and their characters. This creative team has failed the WWE tremendously. They need to learn that it can't always

Initiative is important for all professions. Awful truth is just going in and doing nothing but what you're told rarely helps. It could mean getting along with top guys, contributing ideas and standing your ground without being a dick like Shane Douglas. It could be spending that extra hour in the gym, taking criticism and bettering your matches and promos. Or you can just complain about how someone "held me down" because "I don't kiss ass".

To be fair talent taking initative seems to be counter-productive to getting over because of the WWE creative machine. Ryder was getting over because of his YT show, yet Vince had his signs taken away from the fans and Ryder was left off RAW just out of spite in his home town. WWE only cares about stroking each others egos and getting THERE ideas over. That's why CM Punk is likely going to be buried, while Cena AGAIN  dominates the main event.

Daniel Bryan, Ted Dibiase...compare them in the past few months to, say, Wade Barrett. Barrett is letting himself be controlled by the machine and his push has been fucked up every single time.

Well, other guys need to step up. This is nothing new. For a while, HHH was carrying the company. Now it's Cena. Big name stars leave, and certain guys have to take the lead. Now, there are VERY few stars who can step up and carry the company. Cena's really the only one. Orton dials in at times, but other time's he's flat and bland. CM Punk has a chance to become big now. What happens over the next few weeks will show whether the WWE is screwing up or if it's the performers.
