I always saw Jericho more as a tie breaker when he won the unidisputed title. Just a way of having someone else other then Austin or the Rock win the title so that neither have the bragging rights and they stay on an equal and level playing field and fans wouldn't see one those guy (Austin or Rock) as bigger than the other for winning both world titles. Just my opinion.
@666Horns - Completely agree, Vince didn't want his two HUGE faces against each other over who was better. Especially when both helped the company's revenue. Both at the very heights of their careers, but it does kind of suck that Jericho lost the title to HHH. I liked him being super smug about it.

They decided to unify the titles with two matches, Jericho beat The Rock in the first one, and Austin in the second one. Then Brock Lesnar won the Undisputed title and Stephanie McMahon signed him exclusively to Smackdown to spite Eric Bischoff (Raw GM at the time) so he couldn't defend it on RAW. In response, Bischoff created the World Heavyweight Title from the old WCW belt and gave it to HHH.
For that reason, and also because in real life, TNA had just opened up, the title Lesnar had was no longer undisputed and the titles have been split ever since however, the WWE Title carries the WCW title's title history.

@SalsaShark109 Yes, Chris Jericho is a better technical he wrestled all over the world pretty much but if you notice when he came the WWE he hardly did anything techincal it seems like over years he put more emphasis on his entertaining side and focused on trying to have a bigger then life personality.

@SalsaShark109 The end of the attitude era is subject to opinion but to me is was Wrestlemania 17 2001 when Vince bought WCW. There is no need for an attitude era if there is no more competition (WCW). Some might say it ended when WWF became WWE.

@SalsaShark109 That's true, but I would say that even all of 1997 was just entertaining to watch the whole Stone Cold/HBK/Hart Foundation Feud, the American vs Canada storyline, Undertaker winning WWF title, LOD returning, Stone Cold & HBK winning tag titles, the your brother Kane is coming storyline with Taker and Paul bearer, Jim Ross interview Mankind where Mick Foley brillianly blurred the line between reality & make believe, DX formation, HBK & Undertaker 1st run and of course the Screw job

I always saw Jericho more as a tie breaker when he won the unidisputed title. Just a way of having someone else other then Austin or the Rock win the title so that neither have the bragging rights and they stay on an equal and level playing field and fans wouldn't see one those guy (Austin or Rock) as bigger than the other for winning both world titles. Just my opinion.

@666Horns - Completely agree, Vince didn't want his two HUGE faces against each other over who was better. Especially when both helped the company's revenue. Both at the very heights of their careers, but it does kind of suck that Jericho lost the title to HHH. I liked him being super smug about it.

It should have been the Rock vs Stone Cold. Don't get me wrong, Jericho is an excellent wrestler but Rock vs Austin to determine the 1st Undisputed champion would've been epic.
And another thing, why the hell wasnt Undertaker in the mix? He should have been in the undisputed title picture too, not fighting RVD for the damn Hardcore title.

This was brilliant because Jericho was the least likely one of the four. Everyone thought Austin or Rock would get the historic honor of first Undisputed Champion. When Jericho wins you can see so many people in the crowd who were expecting to witness a celebration like "...Are you fucking serious?"

They decided to unify the titles with two matches, Jericho beat The Rock in the first one, and Austin in the second one. After this was done, they made an awesome looking single belt, which...I think we can all agree should come back instead of that retarded spinner belt.

Then Brock Lesnar won the Undisputed title and Stephanie McMahon signed him exclusively to Smackdown to spite Eric Bischoff (Raw GM at the time) so he couldn't defend it on RAW. In response, Bischoff created the World Heavyweight Title from the old WCW belt and gave it to HHH.
For that reason, and also because in real life, TNA had just opened up, the title Lesnar had was no longer undisputed and the titles have been split ever since however, the WWE Title carries the WCW title's title history.

Jericho's back was in so much pain from Austin giving him the Walls of Jericho. Austin did it wrong cause Jericho kept holding it after match i bet Vince helped him back stage. He could barely lift the belts in triumph.
