Buffy: Animated!

I would probably watch a cartoon series that continues the season 8 plot line. Although the dialogue seems very much dumbed down in this.

As much as I have to admit that the Xander/Willow/Giles attitudes/dialog seem decent. You have to admit that there ARE some things that just do not need to be animated. All the money spend on this could have been put to better use making a season 8 of buffy....>.> or Ripper. Really wish Ripper had made it on TV. Or that Spike spin off that was talked about.

@WantingU1 They're all the actual voices aside from Buffy. Sarah Michelle Gellar was too busy doing Grudge at the time, and she was worried the animated series would be jumping the shark.

This storyline is in the season eight comics if anyone is interested. It's a nostalgic dream sequence, doesn't belong in the main plot(obviously, Xander would need an eyepatch) so you don't need to read the previously released season eight comics to get it. It's issue 20 and it's called "After these messages - We'll be right back"

I'm a huge fan of Buffy/Angel, and if this had been made, and did well,I would've been happy, but I don't think I'd have watched it. One huge thing with the original shows- despite all the demons,spells, vampires, and overall wackiness, it still held a heavy air of realism to it. Realism-- completely thrown out the window here, and that makes me believe it can't be near as dramatic. Think about it.. A character death, or a new relationship, just wouldn't mean as much as it did on the other shows

I know realism isn't a mandatory thing, and I'm not saying this couldn't have still been good. I'm just saying it's not possible to copycat the original feel with an animated series like this (if that's even what they were trying to do)

I think I understand what you are getting at here, but c'mon, it's a cartoon. You liked the show for some good reasons. They pulled off some really heavy topics and did it quite well. But really now, tell me when you first watched this promo it didn't put a smile on your face. :)

joss should do season 8 animated. they didnt do this cause the shows storyline changed drastically from the cartoon and fans take everything buffy as cannon. too many paradoxes.

Nup, don't think I like it anyway. If it were made into a series I would have given it 2 or 3 episodes to grow on me but since it wasn't I'm not gonna lose sleep over it.

Looking forward to Dollhouse, and hoping for some sort of return to Buffy or Firefly.

I *think* I'm glad "Buffy: The Animated Series" didn't get off the ground... this is a promotional clip made back in 2001. Sarah Michelle Gellar is not voicing Buffy (though the other characters are voiced by the real actors), and it's set during Season 1... I think I would have found it too annoying to watch. They should make a post-Season 7 movie instead, preferably with quite a lot of Tom Lenk in it :-D

Buffys voice is kind of annoying, same as the video game voice i think. But whats the point in starting at s1, we already know whats going to happen. There's no interest in Willow liking Xander because we know she'll just turn out to be a lesbian and nothing will come of it.

because Fox studios who owns the rights to the Buffy series isn't willing to pay the actors involved what they're worth, plus Sarah Michelle Gellar is worried about being typecast and isn't too interested in returning the role.
