I grew up in a home where there was always music ,etc, and those songs will for ever be popular, because eachof them carried a message, not the empty stuff of nowadays.I wish my parents could still have been alive, they surely would have enjoyed this video
Jim Reenves was the one person who had a special and unique voice unlike anyother. There was so many Elvis impersonators but I've yet to find anyone who could impersonate Jim Reeves. I love listening to Elvis but there's no doublt that Jim Reeves had the most awesome voice of any enterainer who ever lived. Unlike so many Jim Reeves actually wrote his own songs. There will never be another like him
great song!only george jones could make he stopped loving her today the song that it is!no one else could make it sound as good and bring you into the story like george as he takes you into his life experiences and reveals them to you!
I love this song and who could sing it any better than Jim Reeves..He has such a beatiful sincere voice .. Just makes my heart melt listening to him. This song is not on his According To My Heart Album... DOes anyone know where this song, "What Would You Do"... I can not find it on any album... I did buy the According to my heart but it is not there.... I would appreciate any information....
My parentsand grandparents (on both sides) were great Jim Reeves fans, and it's easy to see why. And just listen to the sweet notes of Floyd Cramer on the piano. A beautiful, haunting song.
if this is the original audio...it's flawless...I grew up with my mum absolutely worshipping Jim Reeves but I don't recall this gem... many many thanks for sharing...THANK YOU and MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!! :)
i was 7 when dad left. i used to listen to this song for ever and a day trying to figure out how dad could leave us as were we not suppose to be his heaven. i feel so nostalgic tonight.
There is just nothing like Jim Reeves. He was such a bright star that was taken way to early. He would have been even bigger had he not been taken so early. His international appeal just proves how much his music touched everyone. A voice so smooth and heartfelt he could melt even the toughest critic.
My pleasure! Good´n´Country is reissued together with The International Jim Reeves on one single CD, a great package! Another song that might surprise your sentimental-shy friends is the gritty "It´s Nothing to Me", recently posted here on Youtube. Enjoy!
Yes, Jim wrote this one. He didn´t think himself much of a songwriter, but he wrote several really good ones. They often had that earnest, honest quality that you noticed here. "Bottle, Take Effect" is in my opinion his masterpiece, an unsentimental look at alcoholism that is quite stunning. (Not posted unfortunately, but can be found on Good N Country, one of his best albums.)
Reeves was the fav. singer of my dad and he was always singing. So i know almost all his songs by heart. Put your sweet lips a little closer to the phone is one of my fav.. and this one
Jim Reeves - One of the greatest, if not the greatest, singers of all time, a song from Jim was not just enjoying a song it was a listening experience. I love so many of his songs some of the best music that ever came out of Nashville
barrygio1, Very well said. I could not agree more. He was one of the best male country singers ever to step up to the mic. They just don't make um like this anymore. MoJoPiano
How I wish to sit in his concerts...Wat a bad fate that I was born 19 years after his death...I wish I never heard Gentleman Jim in my life..Cos now I m not able to get rid of his music...I love you Jim.
Of course I was exposed to Jim's music when I was young, some 45 years ago, but I didn't get it then. I rediscovered Mr Reeves around 1990 and now have CDs of most of his music. I sure would like to see a video of Bimbo. If anyone has it, please post it.
''far away far away and if they call than I must go across the sea so wild and grey. So merry mery me let's not wait for the distant drums might change our wedding day. And love me now for now is all the time there may be if you love me merry merry me.'' what a song!!! Distant Drums by Jim Reeves
I agree. The ironic truth about 'Distant Drums' is that it was basically a demo that was polished up and provided with background, then released two years after Jim's death. Jim would never have been satisfied with it; he'd have insisted on a higher quality version.
Hope if you have slower load like mine seems to . You have to wait roughly 30 seconds to every 2 seconds of video play . Once it completely goes thru. You can click play again . And then it played normally .
Two of the best vocals Jim ever did were recorded at his last Studio B session on July 2, 1964- "In The Misty Moonlight" and "I Can't Stop Loving You". For some reason, they were never released as singles, at least, not in the U.S. Many other artists have done good versions of those songs, but no one compares to Jim, in my opinion. The best singer ever.
What a beautiful song! The only musician make it possible!
