@mattymoo Search for The Venus Project, which the continuation and constant updating of what used to be Sociocyberneering. Their work is very detailed on their website.
@mattymoo It takes a change in mentality in most people. Maybe making this some trend so to spread the concepts more widely. At least is what it seems Jacque is trying to do with The Venus Project.
30 years later and the corrupt banking system, that is made of nothing more than the belief in money, is becoming a chasm of debt. Amazing vision, amazing persistence, amazing man. I want to see these changes in my lifetime, I hope that Jacque gets to see a change in his.
Awesome to see that 'some' (using the term loosely) of his ideas have been implemented. Nearly unfathomable to think of the progression of mankind if even 20% of his ideas were implemented!
There is no way around it, all major organizations that are bringing the population goods and services like the FDA, the entertainment industry, G&E, the military are all not just corrupt, but controlled to serve the purpose of holding society down. plain and simple if you take a look at it, food and drug should not be mixed together into the FDA. Media's heavy focus on shady mind numbing entertainers ( wack ass same sounding/thinking materialistic cockroach rappers, for example) when there are
don't blame the people or the generation befor us. They where guided by, TV, radio and politiks. The generation now have internet and we can spread the fact around more, it united us in a different way. we are more free to choose and not lisen to lies. the other media just makes the world twisted with lies or not the howle picture. If u get my point :)?
what happened to Jaque after this? why didn't I hear of him in the 90s or early 2000s? Why has the media overlooked this man? why didn't other industrial desiners and all sorts of engineers back him up, theyre the one's assigned to build things after all? couldn't engineers tell their employers they will only build things with the best technology at hand during the time theyre asked to build it?
They would have no jobs. Companies can always find someone who can do what you don't want to do. After all, their standards aren't "the highest state of technological abilities".
@daviddmo Irrespective of whether have money or not, economics deals with the production and distribution of goods and services. In this interview, Jacque says nothing about how these goods and services are produced and distributed. Simple as that.
Jacque is an architect not and economist. When Larry asked "If a person wants a suit of clothes, how will he get it?" Jacque went into a spiel about the technology behind clothing and never actually answered the basic economic question. In any society, the economics is the most important part.
@AfricanKillerBees We dont need money for getting clothes or do anything in this life, economy is not necesary in society if all people have fullfilled needs.!
I would bash you for every sentence you have just written but that is not how I am. The key is robotics. Robots can plant and harvest cotton. Or we could go back to the old days were you pick it yourself" work negro work". Just because you do not have a degree if so it is possibly a business degree don't fucking sit here and question the ability's of a engineer. We built this website we built a network we built a pc so your stereotype ass can use it. Retard!
@AfricanKillerBees Economics appears to be money theory, his system has no money. Work is done for free, money is used as an incentive and coercion for dangerous, dirty, boring and repetitive jobs in the current system. His economy is the opposite of the current system. It works to ELIMINATE jobs instead of create them. No work for money for income. We've lost what JOBS really are meant to be- RELEVANT and EXTENSIONAL to humanity. Doctors will still do medicine, but if it can automated it will
@AfricanKillerBees I went into Medicine as an example, IBM's Watson is being loaded with med. data, and speech recognition. Suit of clothes? You think there aren't people who have a passion for fashion and creation of suits? Replication of suits through automation. Everything YOU do comes back to you and everyone else. All repetitious jobs will be labored to become automated to create abundance. All things such as food, clothing, housing, are available free of charge.
@MrGamestop101 Are you trying to say that if a system of social organization based on science and the scientific method fails... then he/we are INSANE to have abandoned our sociopathic system of unlimited consumption, unlimited growth, unlimited waste, mandatory competition and greed-rewarding incentives? Are you trying to imply that THAT is, in any way, a SANE choice??
@CognitiveApprentice no I just would like the resource based economy to be thought through if the scientific method is your choice then why doesn't anyone who is for the Zeitgeist movement question it or obtain third party views and answer the questions of skeptics its as if people follow the movement religiously
@MrGamestop101 Why would you think an RBE hasn't been thought through? Jacque has spend something like 60 years of his life dedicated to developing this idea. And you have members of TZM who do absolutely nothing BUT questions an RBE, because they're trying to figure out how to begin transitioning into that sort of system.
I realize that you're not a member of TZM, and don't take part in their conversations. But you seem to think that since you're not there, it's not happening. You'd be wrong.
@CognitiveApprentice but that's my point if it is happening why isn't it being posted and if it is where can someone find it for me and I assume most people only watch the movie and youtube vids and they never talk about that or I'm just missing them zeitgeist 3 was probably the only one that touched on it and only did so on a few topics and only said what was possible not what is going to be required to get all of it built in short if it is being talked about then we isn't it high lighted
@MrGamestop101 And the bit about "answering skeptics"... either you're just uninformed and haven't done much/any research, or you're one of the 'skeptics' who refuses any answers, as one of the self-appointed guardians of the status quo.
If you have a better solution than an RBE, then you should be making your views public. If you don't, then you really need t support it... otherwise you'd be supporting the current system which is going to blow up in all our faces in the very near future.
@CognitiveApprentice look I'm not looking for an arguement I just want satisfactory anwsers to my questions and painting things in black and white as if we are with or against you is a vary limiting view I thing the rbe is a viable solution but I want it thourghly test and proven to work before I support it
WOW!!! LOVED THE WHOLE VIDEO - AWESOME INTERVIEW. PLEASE KEEP THE VIDEO POSTED AND THANK YOU AGAIN. YOU ARE THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS VIDEO ON YOU TUBE HOPE YOU DON;T DELETE. THANKS AGAIN!
Yell new let's start now. I got ideas how too talk to. I want to start now. People need a change stop talking sideways all the time and all the time got to talk bad all the time must got to stop.
@Pussynator123 Don't worry, he seems to be gaining popularity among some skeptical people, especially with the zeitgeist movement showing his stuff in their movies. It's only a matter of time before more and more hear of him and his work.
My Jiminey Cricket now has a face. I.E. - My conscience is telling me everything this man says is highly important and utterly urgent. It was urgent in '74, and it's 1000 times more pressing and obvious today.
The reason no one really knows Jaque Fresco is, because he is not meant to be known. Just look at the views this video has, and look at the views of videos from famous rappers and pop stars have. Jaque is a threat to corporations and government. Thank you Jaque for your teachings and education you bring us.
Larry King says at the end let's get together again and really hash this out now that I'm interested. Where's the second interview? They're both alive and Larry King has a much bigger audience. Let's get this show on the road!
Yep he's right. In our future, venus project societies, clothing are not mandatory in our cities, and i agree this would be better, less sex related crimes and abnormal behaviors in that regard. Now, go tell that to a muslim who supports the use of the burka.....
See what i mean, we're light years away from that free, higher consciousness...
Finally the only valid thing that Jacque said was the last thing in this video and that is that the dollar is not based on gold reserves but printing paper.
@johnycannuk He is unbelieveably ignorant of basic economics? I will almost bet my leg that you're talking about the monetarysystem.... What many people fail to realize, is that this socalled economic system of today, has to fail for this resourcebased economy to be realized... But almost every humanbeing is so indoctrinated with the false concepts of money, that they can't see beyond it... How much does this cost? How much does that cost?... It's in reality nothing but fucking paper...
@johnycannuk Oh no... socialism, I'm shaking in my boots!!! But calm down, it isn't socialism. The communists used the monetary system, and had a totalitarian state... this is not the case with the venusproject.. There is no centralized power in the hands of a few people, and no money... Machines don't get angry, so the fears presented here is ridicilous.. And when talking of horror. Have you really seen what the world of today looks like...??? It's a disaster... but let's keep it that way...
@johnycannuk And one last thing... Utopia has never or will ever be possible... Why? Because that would stop all development... People steadily moves forward and invents new things... In Utopia, you would have to stop time... Perfection is not possible... You can only make the best computer up til that point... next year there will be made one way better...
@fandacy I agree with you... :) I think maybe you've misunderstood me.. Have you read all my comments? I support Frescos ideas, as a matter of fact I'm reading his book "the best money can't buy, right now... It's great, and I consider the man highly intelligent.. The message about Utopia, was merely to say that it's not achieveable, and neither what Fresco is talking about. He works towards a society that steadily moves forward... I love the project and has also supported it.. :)
in the seventies, im sure he was considered insane, and now, people are making billions off of "new" ideas that he, and many before, have come up with. before i knew of him, i even thought of more efficient ideas and many things! but no one wants to start them. major companies want to have more efficient products because they would lose money
I wish we listened to this man way back then. Sure, there are a few minor things I might disagree with, but his idea are so wonderful and kindhearted!
Wow, he was way ahead of his time!!! Especially with what he said at around 14.58 minutes. He's basically talking about an internet system, a system like i tunes or netflix where you get exactly what you want. He was well over 30 years ahead of time in his thinking and he envisioned flat screen tvs which have not become popular til the mid 2000's.What he says at 36.04 is amazing,he's basically saying we need air bags and side impact protection that we have today.
He was so off on some aspects, but so DEAD ON with others.
14:48 "There are no television sets, cassettes, tape recorders, or record players. ... All of the worlds music is housed in a central computer...All you want is the music you like. You dial it and you get the music, you don't need to pick up records or store them. We live in an insane culture where we duplicate things, it's like having a television station in every home or every building." But we do now. It's how we get that music. ^_^
The problem is that everyone thinks this is a difficult problem to solve, involving all kinds of technology, and we have to 'save' civilization. The other part of the problem is that it always tries to be humanistic, saving everyone who we already have, without consideration of how many the earth can support. The simplistic solution is that humans need to learn to give back more than they take from the world/universe. Until that happens, we will continue to consume our own futures.
This interview was taken 1974. 37 years ago. Now, he said to make a huge start, 10-15 years is enough. Now think about it. It was possible then. During those 37 years the possibility tripled (i guess). Imaging what we would be facing now, if J.F. would be heard that days. And what did change since then? Nothing. So maybe it's time to consider this as a way out? Or after 37 more years we will bite our nails off.
Jacque Fresco is a genius. He has so many great ideas. The capitalist system is utterly futile and self destructive. We all need to change our mindsets.
Question everything on the media because they only tell you the news that they want you to hear rather than on what you should hear. The big corporations own the media channels – why do people believe their side of things?
What i can tell of that that Jacque Really changes with the technology we have.. it shows that he tries to keep improving on his idea and is truly using the scientific method to make his idea grow and work for the betterment of humanity.
@iasfl If people really thing about it we have already been exposed to Jacques ideas... I know its a TV show but look at "STAR TREK".. They live in a world that has no money and live there lives of exploring and improving themselves and those around them... Also the computers system.. wouldn't you say that system that Jacque is talking about so what the same as the "Superintendent" in "HALO ODST" the computers system Jacque is talking about would be just like that in a way wouldn't you say?
how is this popular? this is just a pipe dream of an old man. he's an artist i'll give him that, but as an engineer his buildings would be a pain in the ass to build or live in and his vehicles defy physics. it'll never happen
@MonkofAntioch549 It never occurred to you the buildings of the future would always be a pain in the ass to build? Knowledge is emergent, human need changes over time, The engineers of the distant past would say the same thing about today's buildings/structures. But the good thing is, so do the tools improve to build them, Jacques designs would need computers, and more competent engineers. How do you know his vehicles defy physics? You judging by a 42 min interview?
@1519kyle by pain in the ass i mean that for being supposedly a movement trying to increase efficiency, i couldn't think of more inefficient ways to build things. Take for example the one where there is a pipe in the middle and balls attached to it. i'm not saying that it would be impossible to make, we could make it now. there's no reason to though because it would make it less stable and have less living space. i could explain the car thing too but i'm running out of characters
@bmatthews15 i already have (other than the contour crafting. looks helpful). if they actually prove themselves in the years ahead, memory metal seems more like a parlor trick right now, they will make buildings faster and with less labor. they won't add anything to what we can build and it still wouldn't make his designs practical
@bmatthews15 the contour crafting is new, but it seems like the same thing as 3-D concrete printing. anyways these things. if they prove themselves, right now memory metal is a parlor trick, they won't add to what we can already build, they will only make things quicker and less labor intensive. note that this still doesn't mean that his designs are material efficient, layed out well, or even feasible
@MonkofAntioch549 your an idiot and know nothing of what you are saying. say something thats true, stfu, or get off of this planet. you can look up most of these technologies today, they do exsist. those vehicles are called maglev. people like you are what hold down progress.
@bboschboi people who reply to eight month old comments are holding us back while i'm an engineer. i think it's safe to say i'm doing my best to move society forward he designed individual cars that floated a few feet from the ground not a centimeter. maglev technology has been around for centuries. it's just a flattened out motor. the only thing that made it possible now days is that we have good enough magnets to make it float.
It takes entire societies transformed into well organized, open minded, selflessly devoted and highly educated team players to make his ideas come even remotely close to making happened. We may have the knowledge and the sources but the tool is only as good as the operator.
@bboschboi Sure if by "descent humanistic ideology" you mean one that demands that individuals become subservient to the collective, that economically causes shortages and demands top down central planning (as Fresco requires) resulting in abject human misery, degradation and slavery to the state.
Look, I don't disagree with the goal of socialism - a better, more fair, more free world - but the means of socialism to get there run contrary to human liberty and just don't work.
@johnycannuk Now, if you happen to be an anti-state, individualist anarchist, or even a syndicalist, I probably have no issue with your brand of 'socialism' and really only differ on private property (which I wholeheartedly support). We could agree to disagree and get along just fine.
If you are a state socialist or communist, well then you are my enemy, without a doubt. Central planning and subservience to the state is a proven recipe for horror. And that is what Fresco supports
@johnycannuk If socialism and The Venus Project share the idea of central planning it doesn't mean that they are the same. Thats like saying a bicycle (socialism) and a space shuttle (The Venus Project) are one in the same because they both have wheels.
WHY DOESNT THE GOVT IMPLEMENT or BACK THESE IDEAS? same reason walmart doesnt care that it drives out american small business. its a numbers game, with the control of power (money and natural resources) the drive for any action. it simply isn't in the govt interest to support a system that doesnt promote scarcity. acknowledgment that our system favors corp. and govt agenda for sake of monetary gain regardless of the human/environmental tole is real but no one wants to believe we get lied to.
He has come to these conclusions by utilizing the SCIENTIFIC METHOD in all aspects of life to solve the problems we ALL face as humans, rather than to continue making the mistakes for the sake of CYCLICAL CONSUMPTION and a system that puts monetary gain above ALL.The use of the scientific method in renewable energy, politics, economics is something that the good ol' US government should be practicing and making common knowledge because it is the key to progress and understanding.so why arent we?
He has come to these conclusions by utilizing the SCIENTIFIC METHOD in all aspects of life to solve the problems we ALL face as humans, rather than to continue making the mistakes for the sake of CYCLICAL CONSUMPTION and a system that puts monetary gain above ALL.The use of the scientific method in renewable energy, politics, economics is something that the good ol' US government should be practicing and making common knowledge because it is the key to progress and understanding.so why arent we?
@gymgymgymgym Why would enclosed agriculture rule out pollination? Or why couldn't pollination be automated? Many farmers do this in enclosed greenhouses every crop.
This is truly amazing what Jacque Fresco has come up with. I honestly do not understand how such people would oppose to a concept in which global harmony and sustainability can be integrated with providing the human race harmony and well-being. Sure it is something utterly different than what humanity has ever encountered, however we must change or else it may be too late.
@idontwanttocompete Just because its a lot better than our current system doesn't automatically make it utopian. A utopia is impossible, perfection is impossible.
@johnycannuk You live in a city, right? Cities have sanitation and municipal administration. Is this just spooky to you because it's different? This looks better than the new condos in the city I live in, at least
It's sad that when you go to the wikipedia entry on Fresco, some charlatains have purposely placed all of the market fundamentalist criticisms of him at the very top of his "reception" section. Then if your curiosity has patience, you see all of the grand praise afterwards by reputable people. He's a true visionary on an epic scale, and here I am in 2011 only first hearing about him (watching him presenting this highly enlightened plan back in the 70s). The future will remember this man.
@sandite26 Well, I'm in the same situation as you, and heard of this man a couple of weeks ago... I have never heard anything so mindblowingly positive as this man's projects... I agree on every point(at least all I've heard until now)... The monetary system has to go, because it brings out the worst in us... We're working against each other instead of together, and there's really no logic in this... It's just the way we've learned almost from the crib and forward... therefor this seems normal
It's completely mind blowing to me how this could have aired decades ago and received almost no consideration and notoriety. Larry needs to revisit Jacque and The Venus Project. I'm actually currently working on a project and presentation about this for my senior project class. It's time to make a chance, and I plan to spread the message.

There is no way around it, all major organizations that are bringing the population goods and services like the FDA, the entertainment industry, G&E, the military are all not just corrupt, but controlled to serve the purpose of holding society down. plain and simple if you take a look at it, food and drug should not be mixed together into the FDA. what happened to Jaque after this? why didn't I hear of him in the 90s or early 2000s? Why has the media overlooked this man? why didn't other industrial desiners and all sorts of engineers back him up, theyre the one's assigned to build things after all? couldn't engineers tell their employers they will only build things with the best technology at hand during the time theyre asked to build it?

They would have no jobs. Companies can always find someone who can do what you don't want to do. After all, their standards aren't "the highest state of technological abilities".
Omgadnowai 5 months ago
@daviddmo Irrespective of whether have money or not, economics deals with the production and distribution of goods and services. In this interview, Jacque says nothing about how these goods and services are produced and distributed. Simple as that.
AfricanKillerBees 5 months ago
Jacque is an architect not and economist. When Larry asked "If a person wants a suit of clothes, how will he get it?" Jacque went into a spiel about the technology behind clothing and never actually answered the basic economic question. In any society, the economics is the most important part.
AfricanKillerBees 5 months ago
@AfricanKillerBees We dont need money for getting clothes or do anything in this life, economy is not necesary in society if all people have fullfilled needs.!
daviddmo 5 months ago
@AfricanKillerBees
Retard!
PhelanEric87 5 months ago
@AfricanKillerBees Economics appears to be money theory, his system has no money. Work is done for free, money is used as an incentive and coercion for dangerous, dirty, boring and repetitive jobs in the current system. His economy is the opposite of the current system. It works to ELIMINATE jobs instead of create them. No work for money for income. We've lost what JOBS really are meant to be- RELEVANT and EXTENSIONAL to humanity. Doctors will still do medicine, but if it can automated it will
1519kyle 4 months ago
@AfricanKillerBees I went into Medicine as an example, IBM's Watson is being loaded with med. data, and speech recognition. Suit of clothes? You think there aren't people who have a passion for fashion and creation of suits? Replication of suits through automation. Everything YOU do comes back to you and everyone else. All repetitious jobs will be labored to become automated to create abundance. All things such as food, clothing, housing, are available free of charge.

@VenusProjectFTW what if his system fails then who is sane
MrGamestop101 2 months ago
@MrGamestop101 Are you trying to say that if a system of social organization based on science and the scientific method fails... then he/we are INSANE to have abandoned our sociopathic system of unlimited consumption, unlimited growth, unlimited waste, mandatory competition and greed-rewarding incentives? Are you trying to imply that THAT is, in any way, a SANE choice??
CognitiveApprentice 2 months ago
@CognitiveApprentice no I just would like the resource based economy to be thought through if the scientific method is your choice then why doesn't anyone who is for the Zeitgeist movement question it or obtain third party views and answer the questions of skeptics its as if people follow the movement religiously
MrGamestop101 2 months ago
@MrGamestop101 Why would you think an RBE hasn't been thought through? Jacque has spend something like 60 years of his life dedicated to developing this idea. And you have members of TZM who do absolutely nothing BUT questions an RBE, because they're trying to figure out how to begin transitioning into that sort of system.
I realize that you're not a member of TZM, and don't take part in their conversations. But you seem to think that since you're not there, it's not happening. You'd be wrong.
CognitiveApprentice 2 months ago
@CognitiveApprentice but that's my point if it is happening why isn't it being posted and if it is where can someone find it for me and I assume most people only watch the movie and youtube vids and they never talk about that or I'm just missing them zeitgeist 3 was probably the only one that touched on it and only did so on a few topics and only said what was possible not what is going to be required to get all of it built in short if it is being talked about then we isn't it high lighted
MrGamestop101 2 months ago
@MrGamestop101 And the bit about "answering skeptics"... either you're just uninformed and haven't done much/any research, or you're one of the 'skeptics' who refuses any answers, as one of the self-appointed guardians of the status quo.
If you have a better solution than an RBE, then you should be making your views public. If you don't, then you really need t support it... otherwise you'd be supporting the current system which is going to blow up in all our faces in the very near future.
CognitiveApprentice 2 months ago
@CognitiveApprentice look I'm not looking for an arguement I just want satisfactory anwsers to my questions and painting things in black and white as if we are with or against you is a vary limiting view I thing the rbe is a viable solution but I want it thourghly test and proven to work before I support it

Mascis77J 8 months ago
I'm still not sure how this isn't merely socialism with robots.
Sorry, but central planning has never nor will ever work in economics or society.
Fresco is a utopian and a dream with no grasp of reality.
johnycannuk 8 months ago
@johnycannuk Oh no... socialism, I'm shaking in my boots!!! But calm down, it isn't socialism. The communists used the monetary system, and had a totalitarian state... this is not the case with the venusproject.. There is no centralized power in the hands of a few people, and no money... Machines don't get angry, so the fears presented here is ridicilous.. And when talking of horror. Have you really seen what the world of today looks like...??? It's a disaster... but let's keep it that way...
Mascis77J 8 months ago
@johnycannuk And one last thing... Utopia has never or will ever be possible... Why? Because that would stop all development... People steadily moves forward and invents new things... In Utopia, you would have to stop time... Perfection is not possible... You can only make the best computer up til that point... next year there will be made one way better...
Mascis77J 8 months ago
@Mascis77J That's why it's NOT Utopian.

The big corporations own the media channels – why do people believe their side of things?

how is this popular? this is just a pipe dream of an old man. he's an artist i'll give him that, but as an engineer his buildings would be a pain in the ass to build or live in and his vehicles defy physics. it'll never happen
MonkofAntioch549 10 months ago
@MonkofAntioch549 It never occurred to you the buildings of the future would always be a pain in the ass to build? Knowledge is emergent, human need changes over time, The engineers of the distant past would say the same thing about today's buildings/structures. But the good thing is, so do the tools improve to build them, Jacques designs would need computers, and more competent engineers. How do you know his vehicles defy physics? You judging by a 42 min interview?
1519kyle 10 months ago
@1519kyle by pain in the ass i mean that for being supposedly a movement trying to increase efficiency, i couldn't think of more inefficient ways to build things. Take for example the one where there is a pipe in the middle and balls attached to it. i'm not saying that it would be impossible to make, we could make it now. there's no reason to though because it would make it less stable and have less living space. i could explain the car thing too but i'm running out of characters
MonkofAntioch549 10 months ago
@MonkofAntioch549 You need to research memory metal, contour crafting, and 3-D printing.
bmatthews15 10 months ago
@bmatthews15 i already have (other than the contour crafting. looks helpful). if they actually prove themselves in the years ahead, memory metal seems more like a parlor trick right now, they will make buildings faster and with less labor. they won't add anything to what we can build and it still wouldn't make his designs practical
MonkofAntioch549 10 months ago
@bmatthews15 the contour crafting is new, but it seems like the same thing as 3-D concrete printing. anyways these things. if they prove themselves, right now memory metal is a parlor trick, they won't add to what we can already build, they will only make things quicker and less labor intensive. note that this still doesn't mean that his designs are material efficient, layed out well, or even feasible

bboschboi 1 month ago
@bboschboi Sure if by "descent humanistic ideology" you mean one that demands that individuals become subservient to the collective, that economically causes shortages and demands top down central planning (as Fresco requires) resulting in abject human misery, degradation and slavery to the state.
Look, I don't disagree with the goal of socialism - a better, more fair, more free world - but the means of socialism to get there run contrary to human liberty and just don't work.
johnycannuk 1 month ago
@johnycannuk Now, if you happen to be an anti-state, individualist anarchist, or even a syndicalist, I probably have no issue with your brand of 'socialism' and really only differ on private property (which I wholeheartedly support). We could agree to disagree and get along just fine.
If you are a state socialist or communist, well then you are my enemy, without a doubt. Central planning and subservience to the state is a proven recipe for horror. And that is what Fresco supports
