Yes bp is to blame BUT its not all their fault why not blame those responsible for overseeing what they are doing. Oil companies are not just aloud to go and drill. There are permits and legislation on what safety precautions need to be taken. The US has slack drilling laws compared to Europe and other countries that have oil interests.

Too much secrecy connected to this spill. No outside help; no reporters/bloggers. The oil in this video is only surface oil - think how much the dispersant has sunk to the bottom of the Gulf. Halliburton & others had pre-knowledge that this rig was leaking & made profits just before it blew. Was it corporate or govt. sabotage? What are they hiding from people that reporters risk a felony charge for just asking a question of a BP employee or taking a photo? Something sinister afoot here.

What have they done to stop the oil spill? the answer is simple: NOTHING. The talk of previous spills and the history of these disasters which have a name and a perpetrator is simply criminal. It is a tactic to take away the concern and the responsibility we should be exercising to protect the natural environment which is not our entitlement, it was created for us to survive on earth. @dgl1962 I'm pretty sure I can't contribute to a solution because we live in a bureaucratic system and planning is prevalent over simple thought out methods to fix problems offered by a common person such as me. I may be a victim of manipulated, controlled information, I cannot tell. If you have a grain of common sense in you, you should be angry at how they handled the EXXON-VALDEZ. This is magnitudes larger and a grave danger to us. We DO NOT have time left to provide solutions to this.

@curiousEGM Bureaucratic rules aside,as hard as it is to accept this,the current group working on this project is the best.

They know the wells better than anyone else,they know the machinery,they know the tools,they know the geological strata and they at least now know the horrendous pressures involved.

There's no magical fix,their best option is to drill under the current broken casing to interrupt the flow and seal it.

The Navy,the Marines nor the Post office can do it any better or faster
