they dont make them like this anymore lol reminds me ive still got deep in the underground shut up & dance on vinyle still gathering dust shame its all abt the digital sound now.
And what the fuck would you know anyway? If your age is correct you'd have been eight years old in 1993. Don't try and lecture someone who was there at the time. Go back to reading your text books. :-). Muppet.
who gives a shit if its hardcore , jungle techno, darkside, darkcore , we didnt give a shit back in the day,its a fuckin amazing track ,lets just leave it at that lol!!!!!
Mate this aint Jungle.. Jungle didnt even exist pre 94, it was just called Hardcore. Darkcore was a term used around the circa of 93 when most tunes got darker and then the split of 94 - jungle & happy hardcore..
@alanbananaman THIS IS JUNGLE. London hardcore techno, darkcore, hardcore breakbeat.. we called it many things back in the day. Check the flip side, JUNGLIST. Back then the music brought us all together, Now everyone is a separatist and wants to compartmentalize.
Jungle elements aye, but its hardcore. Its got the happy feeling right through it. Your right though about the music back then wanting to bring us together. now its fucking balls. I dont even have the passion to argue lol
@alanbananaman You don't know what you're talking about mate. Of course Jungle existed pre 94...the earliest Jungle tracks were being made right back in 91/92. granted it was all called 'ardcore and then it changed to Jungle. I'd call this Jungle. I was going to raves up and down the country from 91 to 94 and from 92 onwards where it went all dark it was only ever 'Jungle'. Never heard the term 'Darkcore' being used. Dark Jungle maybe...darkcore is recent name...never heard it back in 93.
I find that hard to believe coming from an oldskool raver that you never heard of darkcore?? Its way the scene went in 1993, when things became extremely dark.. a defining example of a choon 'dj red alert & mike slammer - ruffer'.. Pioneers of this sound would have been the likes Ratty, Top Buzz, Tango.. If you tell them it didnt exist theyd laugh. Anyways this track has jungle elements perhaps, but its hardcore. The vocals, piano line, ravey synth. Too happy for jungle.
I'm not saying I never heard of the term 'Dark' just Darkcore. Splitting hairs I know but when people mention darkcore now I don't remember that term being used...dark Jungle maybe but darkcore? Not where I was from matey. So you don't need to lecture me on what Top Buzz & Ratty used to play ffs. I used to travel all over the UK...Universe, Obsession, Quest etc
Look back at old DJ interviews from that time and I'll guarantee you'll not find the term 'Darkcore' being used. ;-)
And what the fuck would you know anyway? If your age is correct you'd have been eight years old in 1993. Don't try and lecture someone who was there at the time. Get back to reading your yext books. Muppet. :-)
Sorry Jason is correct, the term "Darkcore" was never used back in the day. You would hear the terms 'dark hardcore'; 'the darkside'; jungle; even jungle tekno etc but never 'Darkcore'. That term is some modern day rubbish. Take it from someone who was there in London at the time listening to the likes of Pulse FM, Transmission One, Defection FM, Don FM, Kool FM (I could go on an on).. secondhand knowledge can't test experience.
But then again I agree that this would have just been called Hardcore at the time and that's what I would categorise it as. Listen to any Weekend Rush/Kool tape from the period and that's what they would call it.
solid Production House offering, coupled with the mighty 'Darkage'...always a winner, you can't go wrong when this bursts forth from some goliath speakers - ohhhh gawds....helllll yesssssss. "Deep in the.." you know it!
Fantastic tune, didnt hear it much back then, why i dont know, its so good. Had it on a Don FM tape but poor quality tape, despaired of ever hearing it again. Top upload browno, 5 stars, and straight into favourites, also added it to my Top 30 old skool playlist on my channel, cheerrs nlight uk

You are all wrong. There was a goldern period in 1992/3 where stuff just couldnt be pigeon holed... so it was dumbed "Jungle Techno".
Cheers :)

I wouldn't call this tune jungle. More like happy hardcore with breaks. Good tune from back in the day though.
NedsMissingTeeth 1 year ago
@NedsMissingTeeth This is what used to be called Jungle, then as it aged its old skool. Certainly not Happy Hardcore. Yes yes tune though!
