  • sucks camcorder shit

  • Fantastically!

  • i had this camera... IT SUCKS! hahahahha

  • Thank You Sir!

  • I have a question, i just bought the FS100 Refurbished like new and we all know Mac problems...if i use the MPEG StreamClip i know i need the MPEG2 Plugin but would that convert to WIDESCREEN or still 4.3? It sux!

    Thanks

  • you can convert it to widescreen or 4.3 or any resolution you choose. It's not too bad tbh and I've done a blog post on it so check out my website.

    Thanks

  • @BasariStudios What you do is:

    1. Insert your SD card to your mac

    2. open iMovie

    3. Click the little camcorder icon to the left

    4. import your clips

    5. open them in final cut!

Its that easy! And to get 16:9, go to the browser in FCP, scroll to the right until you see the tab "Anamorphic". Then click the open fields under it, and voilá! Good Luck!

  • @BasariStudios go to google and download sdcopy. It will get the video files of the camera/sd card and flag them to play in 16:9. Hope this helped.

  • Great site daz. I've just purchased the FS10 for £120. I noticed from one of your videos that you support Aston villa? Do you live in brum then? You certainly don't talk like a brummie :)

  • Yeh I do nearby but I don't have the accent. Come on the Villa!

  • Do u know where i can buy those?

  • Yep on my Mac. I used to use Vegas when I was on Windows, that's great also.

  • I use Final Cut Express. Great editing suite!

  • it wasn't so bad a year ago when it was uploaded however now with the youtube encoding process and the bigger screen it doesn't look anywhere near as good. What's interesting is I rendered it in a widescreen format however it did not appear this way...

  • Is it possible to put another lens on it?

  • I'm not totally sure to be honest.

  • Mpeg streamclip, i guess i have to try it.

  • can you hook up a microphone to it

  • Yes you can. Check my channel and look at the video about the new SkyTronic microphone. I use it on this camcorder

  • I am thinking about buying this camera, but is it very compatible with final cut express? Because the apple website does not list it

  • it is fine once the .Mod files from the camcorder are converted to a format final cut express will read. I make them into .mov. If you look in my channel I have done a video to "convert .mod files" so check that out

  • what editing do u have

  • I use Final Cut Express

  • how much does it cost

  • Its for the Mac. Look on eBay for cost.

  • why no widescreen~?

  • I fiddled with the resolution and although it is widescreen YouTube does not represent it in widescreen for some reason.

  • thats strange....

  • I agree

  • i think ill get that camera, do you recommend it?

  • Yes I do. It's really great however if you have the money to spend and a computer good enough, it may be worth getting a HD camcorder. I've done a full review of the Canon FS100 on my website

  • you just got to render the vid at 680x420 and u will get widescreen

  • Can anyone tell me some good (cheap) editing software to use with the fs100 that produces high quality videos?

  • Yeah I got it for Xmas and I love the camera very much.

  • great looking footage. what settings did you use when exporting from FCP? This is where the quality breaks down for me.

  • well I exported it from final cut express which just puts it in a quicktime file. Then I ran it through software called VisualHub just to change the resolution to widescreen and it outputted in this quality. See how you get on.

  • i have the canon fs 100 and the first video i made lets me watch it in high quality once i put it on youtube

but now whenever i make videos it wont let me watch it in high quality

    can you tell me why?

i use the editing software that it came with

  • Same. Recently YouTube changed their high quality resolution and my new videos are also not available in high quality without the address suffix. You won't be able to get the high quality version unless you make it into a HD resolution which is too much hassle.

  • dude i just got a fs100 canon, how do i make it good quality/hq? the only video i used the fs100 is the eating chip fail, the others are with cell phone.

  • wait a bit first. normally it can take a while for YouTube to recognise High Quality. Also I recommend using 640 x 360 resolution.

  • just a question:

what's the diameter on the FS100?

like is it 30mm? or more?

  • if you mean the lens diameter it is around 30mm

  • Hi

What does kind card memory used?

    Gracias

  • It's an SD card

  • How did you convert the files into mov? Whats streamclip?

  • Mpeg Streamclip is a type of software. Look at myYouTube channel where I have a video to show you how.

  • hi guys do enybody know how to put in relly high quality on youtube i have to convert all my vids on movie maker!

  • If you mean how do you make your videos high quality well your recent ones already are. It can take a bit of time between being uploaded and a high quality version becoming available.

  • Dazz: How do you recharge the battery on this?

Do you have to buy a separate battery charger?

Or can you charge it with its AC adaptor?

  • atrickpay11: I charge the battery with the included AC adaptor. Also I have a separate battery unit that I can take with me as well. Both do their job.

  • Thx Daxx4590! Merry Christmas/Happy Hanukkah/Happy Festivus!

  • Did you use XP Quality?

  • Yep

  • It looks like I was wrong. It did actually give the option for High Quality on mine, but it just took a while to do it. The standard version was there an hour or two before the High Quality version was available.

  • Notice how everything is a little taller and skinnier than it should be? It's because you shot the footage in widescreen but it is getting converted to traditional (4:3) when you move it from the camcorder to the PC. To fix that you can download a free utility called SDCopy (just search for it on google). Then, after copying your .MOD files from the camcorder to the PC, run SDCopy to convert the .MOD files to .MPEG, and check the box in the program to keep the 16:9 (widescreen) aspect ratio.

  • Thanks for the info. Actually I already have it in widescreen on my Mac using Mpeg Streamclip 1024 x 576 and also in 640 x 360 but when I upload it to YouTube it converts it into a 4:3 ratio.

  • nice garden!

  • THIS IS LIKE MY GARDEN... NOT

  • V-- Sigh, what is social America coming to?

  • Imported them as .MOD

  • Hey, I just got the FS 100 and can import the videos on to my computer (Windows) but can't hear them. Did you have this problem..?

  • Yes I did. I presume you imported them as .mod files or did you use the supplied canon software?

  • JackJayEdis It shoots .mod and you would need to buy Adobe Premiere Elements 7 to deal with this kind of avchd file. That goes for all camcorders that use avchd ok. :) David and Charmaine

  • What state was this filmed in? That is a nice yard!

  • Good old United Kingdom!

  • Beautiful Garden!
