Chinese who came from the continental recently except Hong Kong are notrious now in Japan. Many of them live in Shinjuku Kabukicho. But some live in Yokohama Chinatown. They make trouble with the old residents. They piss off the history that the old Chinese residents have been establishing. That is so sorry.
Chinese who lives for a long time is very respected in Japan. An ardent study international student is valued. It is Chinese that embarrasses who comes to Japan to perpetrate a crime. The prison in Japan is comfortable because it is democratic.
I live in Tokyo and I often visit Yokohama to eat in China Town.
There are a lot of very tasty Chinese restaurants, but receptionists also service in the Chinese style. Old ladies service reluctantly, but I want to eat there.
You should know Lynn Minmay (Macross) was born in Yokohama Chinatown. Yes, she is a Japan-born Chinese. There are so many people like her and Japanese and Chinese are doing well. This is so natural there. I recommend 聘珍楼,菜香,同発,重慶飯店, and 謝甜記. I wish there were 娘娘 (Nyan Nyan restaurant) there. :-)
In America all East Asians get along really well and call each other "ma ninja" the way it should be but not like brothas because that's African Americans and they took it.
@lcddg you got no proof of that and non of us do man so just enjoy the friendship and stop trying to bark "JAPAN IS FROM CHINA FUCK JAPAN" crap man we live in a civlized world already for gods sake
japan is amazing they are so amazing. they always mimick other countries and cultures so well. Even if they don't understand the background on why a country does certain things. They can mimick so so well. They are so precise. I don't understand how they do it. My countries ...well my state's chinese food doesn't look that good.
some chinese, koreans and japanese say they can see who's chinese, koreans and japanese. how can they see that? all far east asians looks aboute the same. like white peole in europe looks about the same.
@Yamatopetro can tell which Japanese, Chinese, or Korean someone is from what he/she puts on, how he walks, etc. The diffenrence is in their cultures.
@Yamatopetro asians country not only chinese, japanese or korean only. like in my country we look different then other religion even we live in a same country. Skin color are different..
japanese korean and chinese are lookalike then other religion
Why the heck is there a "Red banner" hanging on the plate with those simplified Chinese characters. Real Chinese heritage use traditional characters. It's really disrespectful to our heritage, "mainland chinese shit" is everywhere.
The beautiful Chinese heritage is being tainted by that "mainland china red culture". There are other Chinese descent too in this world who're not part of that "mainland bullshit red culture". You should respect our common heritage, not just for us to respect Mao !
Hanzi=is what the Chinese call their own characters (you're Chinese right?, you should know this).
Kanji=is what the Japanese call the Chinese characters.
Hanja=is what the Koreans call the Chinese characters.
Hantu=is what the Vietnamese call the Chinese characters.
aside from the Chinese, the Japanese are the other major users of Chinese characters in their traditional writing. the Koreans nowadays are using their Hangul, and the Vietnamese are using Latin letters.
I know how your feel walking in your own shoes, since I'm from Australia myself and grew up speaking mostly English but I'm a Eurasian of partly Malay descent. Luckily Roman alphabets have commonly been used for writing Malay since European colonisation - so it makes it easier for me to remember how to speak and write Malay more easily. If I were to read Malay in Arab alphabets (the writing system that was commonly used before European colonisation) it would be difficult for me for learn Malay.
I do hold a grudge against the Japanese for their attitude towards WWII history but, I am also a believer of the Cooperation of East Asia concept, it is the people that promote the ideals that get out of hand. In fact, letting a machine of violence( the army) to preach an idea of prosperity is doomed to fail miserably.
So I hope today's sino-japanese get better. And both countries should do their part for a better understanding.
Why is the Japanese Chinatown so quiet? Haha. In Malaysia, the Chinatown is bustling loud with food everywhere XD But its nice to know theres a little Chinese heritage in Japan where Chinese communities could meet up and share their culture with Japanese people :]
This is YOKOHAMA CHINA TOWN.These place are clean and quiet . It is different from other contry China town. But these day many Chinese come from CHINA.
Japan had got a problems about these bad Chinese manner.
Nawh I saw some clean chinatowns in other countries aswell not just Japan. Hey, not all migrants to Japan which are Chinese, are from China, you know? In the Japan embassy here, some minister of Japan just gave like 36 students scholarships in Japan and 28 of them is Chinese :D
haha, Malaysia have China town? i am a chinese in Malaysia. There are three main races in Malaysia: Malay, Chinese and Indian. Everywhere have chinese, everywhere is a china town!
Glad to see another Malaysian Chinese :P You know? We're quite rare on the internet o_O Or am I just looking at the wrong places, lol. Yeah everywhere is like a Chinatown XD
I wonder if the chinese and korean community in Japan is treated differently, because seriously, the chinse, korean, and japanese little circle of hate is just ruining kids now a days.
I'm sorry if I misunderstood - but I'm pretty sure the chinatowns in Japan weren't copied from America or Canada - the ones in Japan were there first...
Happy to see that chinese and japanese can cohabit togehter. I wish the sino-jpanese relations will grow better and better, not only in a political point of view but also socialy, between people.

The older-generation overseas Chinese who made old Chinatown in Japan were polite.
However, a Chinese in recent years is a ideot.
Probably, they may call it a different race.
