  • well, when old geezers in robes debate for hundreds of years which books should be in the bible, chances are it's a man-made construct and not something 'divine'

  • I never asked kheathen and i honestly would love to hear it.... Why do you do all this?? im mean very few believers would "preach" if they didnt believe, why do you spend any of this tiny life we have on earth refuting and defaming that what you see as pure fiction, who are you trying to defame?

  • KingHeathen.... I'm a Christian, and I gotta say I was quite impressed with this video.

    *Applause*

    Keep studying my friend!

  • @doctorh2005 The Bible is not the Word of God of course. The Word of God lives within those who follow Him. The Holy Spirit is our teacher and advocate, and through Him we can find our source. The Bible has been called the Word of God by religion because they want to keep us reliant on them for our spiritual nourishment. However, they feed us only milk to keep us as babies unable to go forth on our own. Think about it.

  • @twowitnessesoftheson

/// The Bible is not the Word of God ///

Oh yes it IS my friend! The "word of God" is synonymous with "REVELATION". God gave this revelation to His holy Apostles and Prophets during the Apostolic Era, and they in turn communicated this revelation to God's church either by "word of mouth" or "by letter" - 2THESS.2:15.

That which was by "letter" is just as authoritative as that by "word of mouth".

    Today there are no Apostles/Prophets.

  • @twowitnessesoftheson

/// The Word of God lives within those who follow Him. ///

You are commiting the fallacy of Equivocation.

Yes, Jesus is called "the Word" in JOHN 1, but the Scriptures are also called the "Word of God" - because "word of God" is synonymous with God's "revelation" given to His Church, via the Apostles and Prophets - who btw are no longer around today - the gifts of prophecy, tounges, visions have ceased.

  • @twowitnessesoftheson

/// The Holy Spirit is our teacher and advocate, through Him we can find our source. ///

The Holy Spirit guides us always via His inspired words in the Holy Scriptures. He does NOT give direct revelations/visions/dreams as He did to the Apostles/Prophets - only to THEM did He do so - for the benefit of the Church. The Apostles/Prophets then commited these revelations to writing for the Church of all ages to be taught by.

    The gifts have ceased.

  • @doctorh2005 Where did you hear that? Jesus says that you will know them by their fruits which are the fruits of the Holy Spirit. Your teaching is far from the Truth and is definitely not scriptural. You think the gifts have ceased because the Bible has effectively bound the kingdom of God that is within us all. The power God gives to those who follow His Son has been hidden because people would rather follow man and a book than the Holy Spirit. I hope you see the Truth before it is too late!

  • I like the talking head part of the video. I really dislike the red text part of the video.

A lot of the text stuff is on the screen for too short a period of time and many of them use things like 'he' and 'it' and there is not identification of who/what is being referred to. Each statement shown in text should be able to stand on its own, minus the talking head. Just saying....

  • Ironaise? Is he an enzyme that breaks down Iron?

  • Ironically he "puts" himself into "darkness"...

  • ironically, your outfit kinda looks like youre going off to church.. lol

    awesome vid btw

  • Didn't the catholic church fuck with the bible about 200 years ago?

  • Part 3: but it will not be due to atheist arguments. Simply put: Fanatics are not in for a discussion. They are missionaries. And so are you, albeit with better arguments. But the assertion of a belief rests not on once grounds for holding it (since most Christians are not aware nor do they have access to them). I think that most human are much more irrational than the romanticised picture Voltaire and the likes had of us. But: May truth prevail peacefully. Cheers:)

  • @Ewochable You are welcome to comment on my channel...HOWEVER...posting a long series of posts like you've done here makes it hard to follow. Keep your replies to 1-2 text boxes. If you can't do that, switch to either PM or video response. If you refuse to do either...post on someone else's channel. I will not fish through 274 posts to find all of yours and sort through which comes first, second, and so on. YouTube's comment section sucks too much for that.

  • Part 2: "groupbond" (not saying that there is not an obvious winnerside of the dabate, which must be the atheists). I have come to believe that the fanatism stems from the fact that USA is such a deeply religious country - it requires or spawns these contrasts. I live in Denmark, and here we are not very religious. Anyways, you never find any atheists or christians in such a clinch, simply because the intellectual climate doesn't promote it. I think it will take years before USA wakes up

  • Kingheathen, I am just fucking with you. I am an atheist too, I just like to troll. Anyways, the reason I commented is that I have followed your videos for some time, and it seems to be the same shit being said over and over again (same goes for your critics). I think the debate is very confused and low-tech, and also the conclusions and standards of proof etc. are simply not respected. I think both parties are too dogmatic and fanatic to really accomplish anything than reinforcing their own

  • It's kind of funny how most atheists know more about the Bible than most Christians.

  • King Heathen (who will burn in hell) Why don't you fucking read the Bible and start loving your master the lord? How much proof do you need? If it wasn't true then WHY DOES SO MANY BELIEVE? Then WHY has so many believed for SO LONG? Science always changes, the bible never does, and the best explanation is that it is the truth and the truth never changes (hence no need to change the bible). Also, it is proven that Jesus and the holy spirit existed and is god!

  • @Ewochable LMAO!!!!!

OK, first, I've read it 3 times. Second, what proof do you think you have? Third, most people used to believe Earth was flat...that doesn't make it true. Fourth, the Bible has changed REPEATEDLY!!!!!! I cover that in parts 2 and 3 of THIS series.

Keep watching, you might learn something.

  • @KingHeathen Hahaha, I have to laugh at your stupidness. You read it 3 times, yet didn't understand it (since you could not see truth)? Proof - what more proof do I need than the bibles testimony? Am I a good Christian if I doubt the holybook? You may doubt, but there is a lot of wisdom in the bible. But everything can be grossly missinterpretated. Changed? Lol, the bible NEVER change (it's inner self). Fuck this series, fucking heathen. Keep reading, you might get it one day.

  • @Ewochable MY "stupidness?" Let me give you a tip...don't question someone's intelligence and then make up a word like "stupidness." On top of that, Bible is your proof of the Bible? That's called "circular logic"...try again. Then you close your eyes, plug your ears and go "LA LA LA LA LA" to avoid finding out how wrong you are. Since you don't think it has ever "changed," could you explain why there are so many different VERSIONS? Watch the series and keep your immature rants to yourself

  • @KingHeathen Okay, so I am stupid for inventing words? You are saying that creating language is stupid! Second, isn't the circle considered wholesome? It is symbol of compleetness, so... circular logic must be wholesome, perfect logic. Way better than a linear proof. Douche. Plugging my ears? HAH! I am openminded and therefore I LISTEN (yes, listen!) to the word of God, through the bible. Different versions is just a stupid argument. It is the same bible, only the versions differ. N00b!

  • @Ewochable Let's be clear here...I didn't say YOU were stupid...You DID try to call ME stupid...and looked stupid in the process. Next, you can talk about "symbols" all you want, but "circular logic" is a FALLACY! One you clearly know nothing about. Finally, if you think your "different versions" are the "same" (wrong by definition, but regardless...) then I ask you to explain the things I talk about in Parts 2 and 3 where I discuss the DIFFERENCES of the other VERSIONS. Insults=fail.

  • @KingHeathen Oh, so now suddenly you DIDN'T imply I was stupid? That, brother, is called lying (which I didn't do when calling you stupid) and is a sin, which you would have known if you read the bible. See, as we say, atheists DO NOT HAVE MORALS! Fallacy? Haha, did you make that word up? Stop embarresing your self. Eh, if the two different versions are not the same Bible, then why are they called so, and why is the author stated GOD? IDIOT! Stop lying because we don't care, atheist-pig!

  • Excellent video KH. Can't wait until you get to the Nicene Council.

  • I find this totally interesting! Thanks for posting!

  • @VitoPossilipo Glad you liked it...there are two more parts already posted...the next edition should be out soon. These take a little more time to produce.

  • KingHeathen, the book of john "apocrypha",is written by satan.

it is full of disgusting lies, and satan is the father of lies.

satan claiming to rape eve?in front of adam to start the human race??

towards the end of time,GOD's name(yeshua)will be slandered and mocked.

as we can see,it is happening all over the place.the determining of which books should be in the bible must have been mayhem and confusion!

  • @gibsongold1970 Ok, I have a question for you, how could Satan defy God and put his own words in a book that lots of Christians believe is the word of God, unless God is not all powerful, or the Bible is not the word of God?

    Both of which are possible.

  • their is know one in this world that knows ,the bible ,In that the original writers are dead and you would need to have original hebrew writting and be an expert in hebrew languages ancient mind you, the thing is what you really need to do is not use the bible as your God,but to believe in a personal relationship with Jesus, yeshu, ,What ii have found in my years of research is that Jesus speaks to the hearts of people truly seeking him, Beware churches and bible experts or so called experts.

  • @59Disciple Sounds like you agreed with the video...why not just say that?

  • @MCO4Help

    who is Brian?

  • @MCO4Help

    who is Brian?

  • @MCO4Help assuming that you are a follower of Stephen Meyer's book on DNA and it's case for intelligent design? It's a pretty good read, I will admit.

  • @MCO4Help I never said that. I said that amino acid production is not commanded but merely the product of "mirror-imaging" of what is there. mRNA replicates a DNA strand, this is then transcribed through various processes into amino acids and thus proteins. The DNA doesn't "command" it, but is rather the foundation of the process that forms cellular complexes. So, what created these complexes or formed the DNA without the instructions to follow? That's what the link is for. Am I right in

  • @MCO4Help I have a better idea...pray for something that might actually make a difference. Like "an end to all forms of cancer." You know...just in case.

  • @KingHeathen death is inevitable. How about something better?

  • @burtonlegand death IS inevitable....wishful thinking doesn't change that.

  • @KingHeathen the first death, i must correct.

  • @MCO4Help NO! Brian is CORRECT in applying an ANALOGY to help someone understand how it KINDA works. You, on the other hand, are INCORRECT for thinking that ANALOGY is an ACTUALITY. I'm not commenting on it further...I'll wait to see if Brian replies agreeing that what I stated is what he meant or if your interpretation was more accurate.

  • @MCO4Help of course you would...that's called "quote mining" and "confirmation bias"

  • @MCO4Help Your failure in this conversation is that you fail to understand the difference in an "ANALOGY" and a direct comparison. Read Brian's comment again. Notice the "in so much" part.

  • @MCO4Help Well yes, DNA most certainly is a language in so much as it tells the cells what to do...indirectly of course. Because DNA translation and transcription are the results of the work of RNA synthesis on A, T, G, and C, it must be known that amino acid production is not technically "commanded." So how were things formed before the "instructions" were made? Well for this, google "evolution of DNA" and click the first link (I can't put dot com's in youtube comment boxes).

  • @MCO4Help

Transmitter? no. Is a magnet's north pole a "transmitter" to a magnetic south pole?

Receiver? definitely not...it replicates to form the "receiver." Therefore one doesn't exist before hand.

Intent? This is a very far reach.

Meaning? Without question there is no "meaning"

Syntax? I guess you'd have to redefine syntax.

So, there you have it. Not a language.

  • @MCO4Help Can you site a source for that?

  • @MCO4Help No it's not. DNA is a system of chemical reactions and compounds interacting with each other. DNA is no more a "code" or "language" than atomic fusion is a "code" of "language"

Linguists aren't scientists, therefore they aren't qualified to speak on this matter.

  • holy crap!!!!! you went hi def!!!!

  • @MCO4Help I do not...and neither do they. This is a common misconception made by creationists when they try to make the verbiage used by scientists support their position by making it mean something that they didn't. Essentially the entire idea of DNA as a "language" is a quote mine.

  • One of the more interesting books that didn't make it into the Bible was the Book of Enoch, which deals with the fallen angels (an idea which is part and parcel of Christian theology, but not to be found in the Bible proper). Interestingly, the epistle of Jude (1:15) references a prophecy in the Book of Enoch. So if Jude was supposed to be inspired by God (we assume, since it's in the Bible) why does it refer to Enoch as if it were canonical if Enoch didn't make the cut?

  • You are a great teacher mr Heathen but maybe you should show some compassion for the mentally challenged.

  • You remind me of Sam from Supernatural :P

  • Oh what was that? no answer? HA! you really need to stop wasting your time and do something that is going to benefit you here on this earth without a point or a creator!.....people are so dumb no creator??? WE ALL GOT HERE BY CHANCE?? im not buyin buddy.

  • @TheGiantTick No answer? Contrary to popular opinion of Christians who visit my channel...I DO have a life outside of YouTube and do NOT just sit around waiting to respond to someone like yourself. It's called a WEEKEND. It's time I spend with my FAMILY. Sometimes I don't even log on to YouTube on those occasions. On top of that, I get about 40 comments PER DAY and that's if I DO NOT upload a new video. Stop thinking you are so special that I would cater to your whims. Get over yourself.

  • @KingHeathen I in NO way at ALL would ever expect or even want you to cater to my whims, I just know that you don't like responding to people quickly because you don't want to have to sit for a half an hour and try to come up with another lie to respond with! You know God exists, you cannot run from you creator forever, eventually you will see.

  • @TheGiantTick You flatter yourself. I read your replies and respond within a split second. You say NOTHING original. I've heard your BS 1000 times in the past year. You aren't even good at using the weak arguments that you do. And to make matters worse...You are presenting your arguments against me when all I was trying to do was TALK to you. You have proven to be just another intolerant Christian that isn't interested in dialog. So with that, I'm done responding to you here.

  • @KingHeathen Ok please tell me what you planned on talking to me about?? Seriously? LOL! My arguments will always seem weak to you because you are B L I N D E D! No matter what I say to you, you will always see it as weak and untrue because you are BLINDED! Us christians have had our blinfolds taken off! And you my friend I don't see it happening with, simply because you attended church, you loved God and yet you STILL denied him. I could send you video after video DISPROVING your claims!!

  • @TheGiantTick

Your arguments seem weak, because they ARE weak. They only appear strong to you because you have already accepted the conclusion as true.

Consider: you did not arrive at your belief because of your arguments, you had already become a believer when you formulated them. You only presented the arguments to support your pre-existing belief. Thus you can't really blame us for not arriving at your belief because of your argument either.

  • @TheGiantTick What is the point in saying you have all then answers when you strawman enough to build a house? When your done ad homineming or in this case humoring KingHeathen try actually researching your claims and comeback with some decency and stop the arrogent act if you want to disagree, that's fine I'm tired of people thinking they can come on to videos thinking that snide remarks, comments that are indicative of a profound ignorance pure dismissal of evidence are ways to argue

  • @KingHeathen Oh and ME get over MYSELF? WOW dude! With someone of your high knowledge, shouldn't you know that you couldn't have responded in a dumber way? .......wow.

  • @TheGiantTick You are a living breathing definition of hypocrisy. There is just as much evidence to support the claims that laws of physics denote life coming about as one can claim from a 2000 year text . Religions of all written accounts follow similar suites, an invisible physicist being that you have to believe exists poofed everything. Can your beliefs explain detailed probable methods this creator used to create instead of talking it into existance? You need to stop while your behind.

  • wow this guy is proving the bible is truth just by opening his poison filled mouth! If he actually had knowledge about the scriptures he would see that god talks about people just like him decieving people in the end times, heh, im sorry to say but.....you're doomed "king" heathen!

  • @TheGiantTick right....but what part EXACTLY did you take exception with in the video?

  • @KingHeathen What are you talking about? All I want to say is that you are one of the people that God warns christians of in the end times. You will always be blinded by satan because you are part of Gods plan and if God wants you to be a deciever, than you will never see the truth and you will always say that you are right and all christians are wrong. Thats just how it is man and thats why I feel bad for you because I know you will most likely never see the light.

  • @TheGiantTick Yeah yeah yeah....I'm the guy God warned you about...hide your daughters...

So are you saying that you DON'T disagree with anything in the video? Are you just TRYING to argue? Why can't we focus on where we AGREE instead of where we differ? Stop debating and start conversing.

  • Ok, yes your right lets converse even though as im sure you have already seen we are completely opposite. Where to start......ok well first of all I do agree about the many other letters and messages by people that were not included in the bible. I'd like to know if you honestly think that the letters were much different from the ones we have? What makes you think that somehow the letters we dont have would have been any less reliable than the ones we already do have? Its called a summary.

  • @TheGiantTick I never said they were different or that they were more or less reliable. Would you PLEASE stop making assumptions about what I'm saying simply based on that you know I don't believe in your Bible?

The point is that you have letter #1 and people say IT was "inspired by God." You have letter #2 that says practically the same thing, but it's NOT the "word of God"...

How can anyone honestly say it's "the word of God" when so much of it was based on human preference?

  • @KingHeathen Ok well just the fact that in your video you are asking the question why? why don't we have all the letters? why certain ones etc.. tells anyone watching that you think human preference chose the most believable letters (aka most reliable) to put into the text of the Bible. We can say it's the word of God because it was God inspired, not prefered by people. The people that wrote the bible you have to understand had experiences with God and saw his miracles.

  • @TheGiantTick I could be mistaken, but I don't recall asking why we don't have all the letters...I simply state that it is a FACT that we DON'T have the letters and ask how a letter to a group of people became considered "divinely inspired."

"We can say it's the word of God because it was God inspired"

    This is circular logic.

As you will find as the series continues it turns out that the authors WERE NOT witnesses and have no more "experience with God" than David Koresh did.

  • @KingHeathen Ok whatever, I could argue with you for the rest of my life!! The thing is though man, all your points are made up from your basic knowledge. You do not have an ounce of logical and coherent evidence ANYWHERE in ANY of your pointless, time wasting videos. Yes I know, I don't have any logical evidence to prove my point either, so if you are never going to be able to EVER disprove Jesus Christ as God, why on earth are you wasting your time? and choosing nothing over heaven?

  • @TheGiantTick I see many insults, but no substance here. You claim I have no "evidence"...what the hell do you want evidence OF? What evidence do YOU provide? If my videos are a waste of time to you....PLEASE DON'T WATCH THEM! No one asked you to come here to my knowledge.

Now if you want to know "Why do I do this?" then watch my video by that title and I'll explain it. Otherwise, go find someone else who will just tell you what you already believe instead of questioning it.

  • @KingHeathen I want evidence that your DENIIAL of Jesus Christ has a reason! I don't want to hear you bashing God because you were turned off by people in the churches you attended! All humans sin, no church is perfect because of SIN, you'd think you would know this by now, obviously not. I watch your videos simply because I wanted to get through to you that what your doing is directly from satan, and now as i've watched your videos, I know its pointless and now im just pissed off.

  • @TheGiantTick The reason I deny your "Christ" is the LACK of evidence FOR your "Christ". A man that returned from the dead would have SURELY gotten written about WHEN it happened...not 30+ years later. Extraordinary claims REQUIRE extraordinary evidence and you have none. Give me the evidence for why you deny Zeus, Mohammad, Krishna, or the Flying Spaghetti Monster. Why do you not understand that we agree on the criteria for belief on every other religion there is EXCEPT YOURS?

  • @KingHeathen If their was scientific evidence that God existed then what would be the point of faith? God says to have faith in him not rely on evidence. God shows people that he exists through the transformation in peoples lives and the prayers answered, not through science. Anyone in their right mind can look at the amazing beauties of this world and know that it did not get here through some force known as evolution that has no mind and no way to THINK to make things evolve and improve.

  • @KingHeathen No, you are wrong, you are not discussing the ciriteria of belief, but the criteria of epistemic justification. And extraordinary claim require satisfactory evidence... or define extraordinary. So you only assert things you have good evidence for, and good evidence is scientific evidence, am I right? If so, what evidence do you have for the existance of other minds, for the external world? There are good proofs, but I don't think you know them, so you appeal to authority (probably

  • This is awesome King!

  • annnd subscribed!

thanks for posting these vids!!!! so far great research!

  • Hello heathen , i really enjoy your videos , they are informative and intersting and reinforced my atheisim , however i was wondering why you dont cover the faults of the other religions very often , i think they should have there many consistancys and coruptions brought to light . ps love the vids

  • @sentinelxr I go into detail with Christianity because I know it inside and out. I do discuss more generic ideas of "god" and "religion" as well...but I don't target Hindus because I've yet to meet one that wants to pass a law favoring their religion where I live. No Buddhist has even wanted my children's school to teach something they believe to be true without independent evidence of it. And since Muslims make up less than 1% of America...I'm not concerned with them as much either.

  • ★★★★★

  • Hello Heathen: great video, what is your input on Maria Magdalene - apparently she also wrote a book or letter of some sort which was also excluded...

  • @Miamibeach2006 Thanks. Yes, The Gospel of May Magdalene is one of the extra gospels that I was talking about. Of course, the idea that a WOMAN would write something of importance was a bit of a culture shock back then and it certainly paints a picture of Jesus that the others don't...but it's hard to give it any more credibility than any other of the books that was left out. Especially since it's unlikely that a woman WOULD have written a book (not being allowed to be educated and all.)

  • It's always Marcian, Marcian, Marcian!

  • @abbnormalfunctions LOL!

Great to see hear from you again. I hope all is well.

  • Not every letter is Paul's.

  • King Heathen, I must say that I thoroughly enjoy hearing your input on carious aspects of Christianity. As a Christian that does not accept the Bible as infallible, it is nice to have more and more reasoning to back my argument with conservatives who believe it is (especially adults in my church). Where did you read the things that you claim? I would very much like to put this information into a research paper down the road. Thanks, and great work!

    Brian

  • @brian0says The information I will be presenting here is a collection of all the data that I have acquired over a decade of study. Some sources I will remember, some, I will not...but Bart Erhman's "Misquoting Jesus" will have the vast majority of this as it is dealing with the same topic. I give the sources I recall in the video in the form of subtitles. Others, you just have to search for the name or book I reference and you should find it.

  • Great video. I'm looking forward to the rest of the series!

  • Comment removed

  • awe-some!

  • It is unlikely that any early Christian congregation had more than three or four letters or gospels, all of which were read and interpreted by a reader. The number was perhaps few enough that many members, though illiterate, could actually memorize some of them.

These "scriptures", of course, were chosen to be hand-copied by the elder(s) who could read, guaranteeing uniformity of doctrine within the community.

  • @EvenGodsSuffer I'm sorry, but I just want to be clear on this...are you suggesting that there IS guaranteed uniformity in the letters that ended up in the Bible?

  • @KingHeathen

Not at all. I said "uniformity of doctrine within the community." The literate elders of each congregation determined what was to be copied and what was to be read. There was no single Christianity but many.

The situation is no different nowadays. In spite of the higher literacy rate among modern Christians, too many still learn their scriptures from the pulpit rather than directly from the bible, tending toward conformity with the preacher's interpretation.

    WBC is an extreme case.

  • @EvenGodsSuffer Thanks for clarifying, though I don't know that I am willing to even except "uniformity within the community" given the quote I gave from Origen. It seems pretty clear that the errors were there and even known about.

I agree with the rest though.

  • Just watched part two and had to go back and watch this one again. I totally dig this series. I give you the gold star, blue ribbon, red carpet, and maybe even the last Oreo.

  • @Godlesspanther mmmmm....Oreos!

  • @ItsTheSuperFly By all means, please do. Be sure to post it as a video response.

  • (comment #2) Pretty good so far! One possible problem thought...did you call the 4 Gospels gnostic? I could have sworn the gnostic gospels were the "weird" ones like the Gospel of Mary that inspired the Da Vinci Code....and the Gospel of Thomas...it's been awhile since I studied this stuff, so I'm just going from fuzzy memory.

  • @WolfSyndrome I didn't call "the gospels" (aka Matthew, Mark, Luke, John) Gnostic...but I did refer to the ACTUAL Gnostic Gospels which does include Mary, Thomas, Phillip, etc

Though I would remind anyone...The DaVinci Code is a work of FICTION and shouldn't be taken as a historical reference.

  • @KingHeathen I remember when all my local Churches were teaching "Da Vinci Code is a fictional book!" every Sunday for a month at least! I wonder why church members had to be taught the difference between factual and fictional literature? ;-)

About the gospels, I must have missed something you said...I should have watched the video twice before commenting, like I usually do.

  • it's so weird, on some videos the gray bar isn't even there.

  • is there any way to get the excluded parts of the Bible?

  • @YoungIvyScholar Some of them, yes. The Gnostic Gospels are very available these days. However, some of the ones that I mention are only know about because they are referenced elsewhere and we don't have them at all at this time.

  • Very good analysis. As a Christian who does not subject to the whole "infallible word of God" scheme, it's nice to hear how the Bible came to be. This is something that I have often wondered as I have studied what the Word says. The Bible is plagued with cultural influence rather than being divinely inspired, and I can't help but wonder, "What is so special about these books that made them worth being the 'Bible'?" Great work! Maybe tackle the "grace period" after Jesus' death for accepting him?

  • You're not making any new points, and the claims you do make are easily refuted. I guess the appeal here is the acting 101 classes, or perhaps the "cheers" gag at the beginning....

  • @Sweet92Sue What "claim" do you think I was making that you think can be refuted? All I did was give a historical explanation for how the books of the New Testament came together. I wasn't making a point, or a claim. And everything in there is a historical fact (most of which are supported by CHRISTIAN scholars), so good luck "refuting" it.

  • Good video King. I disagree with our conclusions, but I appreciate your take on the formation of the Bible. I love studying Bart Ehrman's work. I agree with the evidence he lays out and disagree with where he claims that evidence points. His mentor, Bruce Meztger, who was a Christian, is just as a good a scholar as Bart. Both make great authors.

  • @Lee8981 I was careful not to make any conclusions in this video...what do you mean?

  • @KingHeathen @ 0:31 you make a conclusion, LOL!

  • great video!!

the bible was written by man and not any gods or god.

  • It's a 2000 year game of telephone.

  • The best way i can describe the bible is that it is like chinese whispers.

  • Bart Ehrman's lectures and "Misquoting Jesus" are great pieces of information on this stuff.

  • The Bible has defiantly been changed over the years...books are missing, who knows what has been lost in translation...but it is interesting that with all the tampering they left in many nasty bits that do make God look bad somewhat...were these bits added? were other, ever nastier bits removed? lots of questions, no doubt.

  • @stonedcommander Great questions. Later in the series we will address some of the things that were added. It does make you wonder why they would change one part but not others.

  • @stonedcommander It seems that at the time the bible was changed, a time when God chose kings and a time when God is the reason for earthquakes and floods, Why would anyone add nasty things in the bible? Wouldn't they fear the wrath of their God?

  • @wthisausername well, the very last page of the bible in part says that no man better change the words in here,(paraphrasing)...if a person does not believe then they have no such fear...and everyone knows that earthquakes aren't from God! its Satan moving around his furniture! LOL!

  • It looks like KH is using a new camera. I like the higher quality.

  • KingHeathen, I find it interesting that on a lot of Atheist videos there are ads about the bible. Right now they are telling me to learn BIBLICAL HEBREW, with the Holy Land's best teachers. :p

It's actually good advice, I'm sure if I knew Hebrew that would be a deadly Atheist tool. hehe

  • like most ancient writings, it's simply a mess what is left to us. Looking forward for the next episode!!

  • New cam?

  • Great point about the Bible not being revealed in the same manner as the ten commandments. Good ammo for the Moslems, i should imagine.

  • intresting

  • @smashbeans yes it is. You should read Jesus Interrupted by Bart.D.Ehrmam if you want to learn more on the subject.

  • @Shigren i will, i have a long list of books i have lined up for reading most of them recomened by atheist.im here to try and understand your thoughts VS my childhood up bringing.when im done...i realy dont know...ultimately im here to learn...alls i can deal with is fact....this is so hard already

  • @smashbeans If you are more interested in audio books I have a copy of it that I've been dying to upload to megaupload so I could get people easier access to it.

  • Cool. Im glad you're doing vids again.

  • New camera? Good lighting! (And good video ;)

  • Great vid!

And a great quality upgrade. I think I remember once when you tried to upgrade but you wound up looking kind of pasty, but this time you definitely got the lighting right or something.

  • Hey, where's the orange man??? I miss him! LOL!

  • A claim I ofter hear, though is that the process of canonization is guided by the hand of God and therefore the correct books made it to the final version. That's a stronger, more coherent argument.

  • @simonthesinner Oh sure...I can understand someone making that argument if this were the only part to the series...

unfortunately for those people, there is more damaging evidence to come.

  • @KingHeathen Unfourtenately for... most of us, people beliveing in the infallibility of the bible (or other dogmatic belief) don't check with your videos (or any other source) if their arguments hold up or not.

  • good video...looking forward to the series

  • Beer in a wine glass? You are obviously insane.

  • @Uhlbelk It does seem strange, doesn't it? He convinced me to try it once - the difference in nose and flavor is quite pronounced! The wine glass (suppose you could use a brandy glass or other similarly-shaped glass) really brings out the complexity, if there is any.

Yes, he got me to try it, and now I drink my good-quality brews from a wine glass.

  • @Alisterwolf66 You're welcome!

  • just finished "misquoting jesus", so most of what you're saying here lines up very well with that book. Very interesting read!

  • Ahhh, but king, god knew what the book would turn out to be, so he set in motion the right things for the book to be mutated into what it is today. (just playing devil's advocate, sorry) Anyway, thanks for this, I've been trying to gather this information for years, and here you have it all (well not all) into a convenient ten minute clip!

  • Wasn't their a harmonized gospel made, But was discarded that was sort of a blend of all 4 but removed the contradictions?

  • Is this a new camera? I still say the old one had character... Though, you could autograph your old camera with a gold-ink paint-marker and put it up on ebay : )

  • Hey KH you look like Brendan Fraiser in this haha, nice vid though

  • Awwwww, the NT again......no Documentary Hypothesis *tear*

  • finally a better camera

  • Do you think the New Testament is based on Astrotheology.

    4 gospels - 4 seasons

    12 Disiples - 12 Constilations

The Son of God - The Sun

December 25 birthday - The Winter Soltice

    and on and on

  • @PastorIblis Not to that extent. There are parallels for certain, and there are roots in astrotheology that found their way into Christian symbols and ceremonies. But it's not necessarily a one to one relation.

  • @PastorIblis Sounds like you watched Zeitgeist. I almost suspect that movie is a plant by the Rich Wing to set up a straw man for when someone brings legitimate evidence for Christianity's pagan origins.

  • @TheNewRenaissance

I did see that movie however I have also done a lot of research on my own too.

The pagan origins is also undenyable. In fact the term Christian came from paul not a possible real person called yeshua.

However from my research Yeshua didn't start a religion but a mystery school and his followers called it the Way. Not Christianity.

The astrotheology stuff is interesting but maybe not fully accurate.

    I am open to evidence.

  • @bornagain001

Trying to discredit the Bible should certainly start with a drink since the task is an impossible one....so bats are birds, insects have 4 legs? still INFALLIBLE?

  • @bornagain001 They don't want your Bibles...they want the FOOD you give them in exchange for TAKING the Bibles.

  • @KingHeathen On top of that, we have been waiting what 2500 years? for an answer to Epicurus' objection to an omnibenolovlent and omnipowerful god concept.

  • @TheNewRenaissance

That is a great quote and i must say one of my all time favorites.

  • @KingHeathen "They don't want your Bibles...they want the FOOD you give them in exchange for TAKING the Bibles."

When did you go to Zimbabwe and see this for yourself?

  • @bornagain001

    From your channel description.

    3. When you hear that you have everything to gain and nothing to lose (the pleasures of Heaven, and the endurance of Hell) by obeying the Gospel, say That's just the old Pascal wager.

    ...I smell a troll.

  • @KingHeathen plus VOLTAIRE did not spend his

entire life discrediting the bible. He wrote essays on many

topics not just religion. He spent sometime examining

the validity of the bible and as any honest /intelectual phylosopher

or any sane person would, he came to the only conclusion posible.

It's nothing more the medieval belief used as a tool of authority.

He did succeed at it for those who are sane.of course for the rest,a

threat of hell is all it takes to prevent'em from thinking.

  • @bornagain001 nobody has to discredit the bible, it does that all on it's own. all people are doing now is pointing out what has tried to be brushed under the rud and hidden from sight.

  • @bornagain001 you can never get rid of stupidity, and they don't want your bibles they want your food.
