I am DYING to see the northwestern in person, and better yet, meet the crew! Last year in Seattle I saw the wizard docked and got to see it and all. I'm guessing they have some kind of water filtration/desalinization system that allows them to make ocean water safe to use for showers, sinks, toilets, etc? Pretty much an endless supply of water in that case. I couldn't imagine them having to store shower/toilet/sink water from land and only be able to use that much until needing to refill?

I just read in the news that Discovery sued the Hillstrands for not fulfilling some agreement on a spin off show and Sig was backing the captains. It said filming for next season was supposed to start in Oct. but the 3 captains quit. The show is going to suck without these guys.

The game is juast as addictive as watching the show, pushing your crew to the limit, try to find good fishinggrounds, repairs.. You almost feel the pressure the captains suffer each trip:P

I just saw them on Larry King Live and they told what goes on during the season at sea it's hell. Capt. Phil Harris said it not that if you can or cant do it, it's if you got the heart to do it year after year. yeah the payday is great but what about all the bills that collected at home for the past weeks on weeks will you were gone. that 50, 60g's get gone quick

Deadliest Catch has become my newest TV addiction! I especially like the Nothwestern vessel and the crew. My ancestors are Norwegian and I live on the seawall in Massachusetts, but that's about as close as I'll ever get to what these guys do. Been out on a lobster boat for a season, but it's totally different than this. Sig and Edgar are interesting characters-is it just me or is Edgar a sadistic SOB? I love it. Can't wait for the new season and all the best to the Northwestern and the fleet!

Taking a ship full of maritime greenhorns out to harass the Japanese whaling fleet doesn't even come close to the HELL these guys, all honest, VERY hardworking, experienced sea-men put themselves through for a living.
