the line at 2:38 is not real in its concept and execution with one breath - scales and 3 different trills in one line that lasts 12 seconds - simply amazing and almost as flawless as in her studio version of this most difficult Bellinian line
UN MILAGRO DE VOZ...........SUPERESTRATOSFERICA........DE UNA SOLIDEZ ESPELUZNANTE....UN ROMANTICISMO SUPERCOHERENTE......Y UN PODER CONTROLADO SUBLIME.........UN MONSTRUO VOCALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL
As brilliant as this is, try to get ahold of the New York debut at Town Hall. I own it and it's a treasure. And remembering the circumstance surrounding the loss of her mother that day, and now with the great Dame passing, it's even more special. Thank you for posting!
Have you listened to early Joan? Her middle voice sounded like her top.. it was bright, and light, and not covered, and bottled ...and natural sounding. Here, she sings with a deliberately held low soft palate, (manufactured)... it is not her natural sound, or a natural sound... its beyond darkening the vowel, which she also does, which makes her middle .. muddled. to me......

@kgarmaker123
She has performances from as early on Youtube - the middle sounded
much the same as later. When do you propose the manufacturing took place?

Wonderful, hands down the best Beatrice. I think is her best Pasta role, along with her Sonnambula and bits of Norma.

This is the best live reading of this aria I have heard. She actually sings the dreadful phrase at 2:38 complete :p The photos are fantastic
