  • This is honestly the WORST prodcution of Figaro ever made. It actually DESTROYS the perfection of this opera. The conducter should be ashamed. I am embarrassed for him for producing this. Utterly terrible in every way.

  • Bottom line is that opera is an ever evolving art form. I generally prefer traditional stagings myself but that doesn't mean I can't recognize the art in a modern production such as this. Just because it doesn't look or sound like your favorite recording doesn't mean it's bad. You have to bring a little more to the table than what I've seen in the comments here.

  • Oh people, please get over yourselves. Almost every production of every opera on youtube has nothing but negative comments on it. You people bring nothing productive to the table as far as analysis. "Heartless performance" "killing mozart" "The count doesn't relate to the other characters". It's all subjective dribble.

  • Worst production of Le Nozze Di Figaro of all time

  • @AmericanEvita Indeed!

  • Well. many people here don't seem to like this performance, but I think Mozart's genius shines through in every note!

  • The Conte's Italian is catastrophic.

  • I still think that it sounds good, the interpretation and everything. I like his voice as well. Of course, I am not an italian native speaker, so to me it probably sounds pretty good, even if his italian is very very bad.

  • @ElisabettaVS

"cent'e cent'e al armi al armi, cent'e cent'e aiutto aiutto": this is what an Italian-mother language hears - totally wrong.

Listen to Pietro Spagnoli's perfect Italian, here on youtube

  • Yes, I love Pietro Spagnoli's Conte. He is actually my favourite in this role, next to my favourite bass-baritone Ruggero Raimondi, who has an extremely wonderful voice that sounds good in every role. But Pietro Spagnoli is really one of the best you can get for the Conte, I love his soft voice.

  • I don't know where to start, but this is one of the most heartless performances I have ever seen, mostly by the count who does not relate to the other characters in the scene, but follows some robotic pattern while looking and sounding like he is dying of some rare disease. This is music that makes people cry in a good way, not like that. A question just goes through my mind : "What were they thinking?" I caught myself watching finale secondo in the same prod. The horror!

  • What the HELL are they doing at 0:19

  • Bad conducting and the rest isn't much better. We can save only D'arcangelo and Roschmann.

  • I don't like vary much scenes and costumes in this production.

Who's the conductor? The great final is too slow!

    Who is that angel??

But, all in all, not bad.

  • That angel is definitely yummy

  • I Love Miss Röschmann as Contessa... This is the perfect role for her and I cant wait to see/ hear her as Donna Anna in Don Giovanni. I just dont like her pamina. I dont want to be mean, but shes getting too old to sing Pamina. I mean Pamina is supposed to be 15 or 16. Its sad they didnt record the show, when Damrau sang Susanna.

  • I actually would rather have Netrebko as Susanna... Damrau is starting to really make me mad with her last CD she released... Netrebko at least has an interesting voice for this Opera rather than the perky little soubrettes who usually take the role...

  • I like that the count is always wiping his sweat off with a hankercheif...lol

  • this count shouts alot....

  • I LOVE this production! Thanks for posting it! I just regret they didn't record the one with Diana Damrau as Susanna too.
