  • Fantastic tutorial. My iPod video has been dormant for over 5years now!!!! Just replaced the battery and presto, 30gb of music storage back in my palm!!thank you!

  • after replacing the battery my ipod wont charge anymore, wtf

  • looks easy. Everyone make sure you dont buy a fake battery as a replacement in other words. a cheap battery

  • thank you!

  • Thank you, it took me ages to take the case off, but i finally did it.

  • just replaced the battery. Nice video.

Feel like I've just given it open heart surgery.

    Thanks.

  • Great video but it was difficult to see how to put the battery strip back into the little slot ...on this video. Best vid on IPOD however =)

  • Battery Replaced! thanx

  • after replaceing the battery i just get the apple logo with a dark screen what should i do

  • what is a "flat-head-Philip's" screw driver?

  • @rosedaddy - ya i wonder what that could possibly be. :)

  • Great video! Question where did you buy a "real" Ipod batt? as all I can find is knock-offs. Thanks!

    jr

  • this is bs. every video i watch is easy as shit to remove the case. ive ruined both those little green tools that came with the battery because the plastic kept shedding on my case...and the case isnt any more opened up now than when i started

  • best replacement-video i've found! thx

  • I Replaced It Just Fine But Broke The Cable For My Headphones

  • What if the sad happy face shows up when you turn it on?

  • Thank you! Worked wonderfully. Too bad the ribbon to the battery that I ordered was too short and the white plastic where you plug in the cord kind of broke when I pried it apart... otherwise, thanks again

  • you probably didnt lock the ipod to prevent it from turning back on...

  • This was the 3rd video I viewed, 1st two were useless. This one saved the day for me!

The battery works fine but the whole thing crashed - froze up on me... wouldn't cut off, no matter how many times I did the "flip the switch, press the button" routine.

I opened it up, unclamped and unplugged the battery ribbon, clamped it back, shut the case. Perfect! And I didn't have to wait for the battery to empty like normal! Thanks so much!

  • massive help. Nice one!!!!!!!

  • sweet tutorial..got my ipod working again!

  • thanks for the help

  • Why dont they just have removeable batterys

  • @RavetodaGrave - Why no removable batteries? Probably to make more money, and probably to keep that sleek, smooth shape. I'd rather have a line running down the middle myself... not being able to change it easily isn't cool.

  • Huge help. Thanks for posting!

  • Great took me no time and I was afraid I would do something wrong. The adhesive is very strong so don't worry that you are wedging it to hard.

  • @maiden1675

Take it to Apple this time, repairing the battery cables is a bit difficult.

  • I did it but broke the cable going to the hold switch. : (

  • @SUPERGUNKY I Did That Too :(

  • I followed all instructions and now my iPod is like new! Thanks a bunch!

  • When I plug my iPod into the comupter it stays dark, but reads: "Please Wait. Battery Very Low." I leave it plugged and no change. iTunes wont even recognize the iPod has been conneceted, so I can't restore it. I have tried charging it on a wall adaptor, when I do this the iPod DOES actually turn on, and is fully functional, but doesn't hold a charge and wheb I unplug it it powers off. I have also tried replacing the battery, but all of these problems persist. ... Does anyone know what I can do?

  • This happened to mine too. One day it was fine and the next it doesn't start unless I plug it into a car cigarette lighter and then it doesn't hold charge. If you have replaced the battery and the problem persists I suppose it could be the charging circuit.

  • YOU ARE SO AWESOME! I DID IT!

    so proud of myself :)

  • i tryed to lever the battery out and i punctured it and there were fumes and it got burning hot so i need to get a new ipod

  • thanks dude

  • I recommend instead of using a screw driver to use twezzers and be very careful because i broke my battery connector with a screw driver and now im having to get a whole new logic board $120

  • I bought my 80 gig at a pawn shop and assumed a new battery would cure the 7-8 hour battery lifespan, but to my surprise when I opened up the ipod it appeared someone else had thought that too, since there was already a new non factory replacement in the ipod. I thought these things were supposed to last 20 hours in music mode?

  • lmao

  • My problem is I only get about 7-8 hours of battery life with my 5g 30gig Ipod. Is this right for me?

  • Watch The Simpsons if you want to be entertained. This is for people who want to fix their iPod.

  • so awesome dude. thanks

  • Great instructions - however, I broke the battery battery connector - probably brittle from age. Know any good DIY videos for replacing the motherboard or repairing the battery connector? Thanks anyway.

  • where did u get the battery.

  • thank you for the info, but ipod suck

  • Nice video so far man
