She was angry as here she was trying to avoid junk food though money was short, and this relative thought she was being "frivolous" for spending the extra money on healthy food.

I'm definitely familiar with these problems. All of us with special dietary needs have to find significant others who are conscious of our needs. It makes the weeding out process a bit simpler!
