Yeah, the unedited interview shows a much better insight and is much more fair to Brian. The way this is edited is irresponsible and really does make brian look like an asshole, when really he was only jumpy for a couple moments before explaining why they were parting ways.
I'm sad that it was edited to make Brian look bad. But I'm sure thats not what was intended. It'll be interesting to see how they both blossom seperately. I would go insane too if I had to see the same person everyday for years. But I'm happy that if they break up it won't be on bad terms! :)
It seemed a little deliberate to me as well; The editing just seemed to imply Amanda being cast out in the cold without her partner, rather than both just persuing their dreams individually. People are who they are and need what they need, Amanda and Brian are not immune to that.. People have differences, which is ultimately what the video portrayed and that's okay. We all may very well lament the end of Dolls, but I wish them the best of luck and eagerly await what they present next. :)
@nflmj93 dont need a drum kit to start. You can air drum to get your co-ordination right (I am being serious) Need to move all 4 limbs by interdependently in the same pattern and time. Its all multi tasking also have to be counting at the same time and be able to talk and do improve with out slicing your self on the cymbals (trust me it happens). Just trying to talk and count at the same time can be a challenge at first. Good drummers are in great shape too :)
Brian does not look his usual self (in comparison to other interviews). Strikes me as rather jumpy, if not irritated, and badly trying to conceal that by fake eagerness.

I have to be anonymous because I was working with them during this time. Amanda wanted to "seem" like she was into the band so their label, Road Runner wouldn't "drop them", she wanted them to put out her solo album. Brian gave the honest answers, she was lying to get her solo album out there. Many days and nights were filled with Amanda screaming at Brian about how" He was the reason she hated touring" and that "hated him and couldn't wait for the tour(s) to be over.
He finally got sick of her prima donna attitude and went off to make real music with real people who have a heart at all beyond a love for looking in the mirror. No one put me up to this I just want to set the real record straight. peace out.
The fact is Amanda truly thought she would be the "next Madonna" and when that didn't happen for her she began to turn against everyone who ever supported her, except for the ones who pay for everything. She's officially lost it now.

Dresden Dolls is probably one of my favorite bands ever, I mean it. But hey, things happen. I will say that if you guys ever do a reunion tour I'll definitely buy a few tickets!

the interviewer was really misleading when he told Brian that Amanda wanted to continue with the Dolls. If you ever read her blog around this time she made it pretty obvious that she wanted to break away, at least for a while.
You can read more on amanda's blog. They are on hiatus basically. Maybe they will reunite but they're happy in their own places. She promotes Brian and world inferno promotes her stuff via their myspaces. Sign up for the e newsletter on her site or follow her on twitter. She's on hiatus now too, doing a few shows in europe and having fun with her new beau Neil Gaiman <3 hope it helped.

i think it's just the incredibly biased editing. if you think about it, if amanda hadn't said the stuff about waiting to hear from him, he wouldn't look like a jerk at all.
They've already started talking about doing something together in 2010, as far as I've heard. Amanda recently posted that after she finishes up a few more shows, she's taking a hiatus from touring/recording completely for a little while, to take some time for herself. After that, I think we may see a reunion.
people, this is not true. amanda herself blogged about it on the website. they are on HIATUS, not breaking up. sure her relationship with brian has always been a little messy, as is any relationship. but as amanda and brian have done numerous times before, they will likely join forces for more dresden dolls. and if they dont? well then whatever they r doing in the music world is probably pretty amazing anyway. dont freak out yet dresden doll fans :)

I think they really misrepresented both of them. They've had disagreements before (like the time a Youtube comment (!!!) made Brian think Amanda wanted to break up the band, but I don't think they're done just yet.
I've always gotten the impression that AP had a hard time letting creative control go enough for others to participate and that Brian was slowly getting fed up with it - there has always been a steadily building angry energy between them imo. Plus its hard to let a man get that close to your heart and then go off and date other guys and not expect things to get weird.

I have to be anonymous because I was working with them during this time. Amanda wanted to "seem" like she was into the band so their label, Road Runner wouldn't "drop them", she wanted them to put out her solo album. Brian gave the honest answers, she was lying to get her solo album out there. Many days and nights were filled with Amanda screaming at Brian about how" He was the reason she hated touring" and that "hated him and couldn't wait for the tour(s) to be over.

this confirms the almost final nail. now iv known the dolls havnt been foreging ahead with new material for the last year with amanda doing her solo stuff and i thought brian was doing some stuff with her for her solo except keeping in the back, no brian (who has posted this vid) is off doing other things. well as amanda said its like brother sister. you can not talk for months and then come back and the relationship hasnt taken much of a hit. productivity on the other hand. all understandable.

Dresden Dolls is probably one of my favorite bands ever, I mean it. But hey, things happen. I will say that if you guys ever do a reunion tour I'll definitely buy a few tickets!

the interviewer was really misleading when he told Brian that Amanda wanted to continue with the Dolls. If you ever read her blog around this time she made it pretty obvious that she wanted to break away, at least for a while.

You can read more on amanda's blog. They are on hiatus basically. Maybe they will reunite but they're happy in their own places. She promotes Brian and world inferno promotes her stuff via their myspaces. Sign up for the e newsletter on her site or follow her on twitter. She's on hiatus now too, doing a few shows in europe and having fun with her new beau Neil Gaiman <3 hope it helped.

I know it seems like Brian is an arsehole and like he wants to break away. It's only the way it's been cut together and it's their personal feelings and they're both different. Besides, right at the end there, Amanda practically agrees that it was good for them to have space. And it is, bands have been destroyed from working together too long.

They've already started talking about doing something together in 2010, as far as I've heard. Amanda recently posted that after she finishes up a few more shows, she's taking a hiatus from touring/recording completely for a little while, to take some time for herself. After that, I think we may see a reunion.

people, this is not true. amanda herself blogged about it on the website. they are on HIATUS, not breaking up. sure her relationship with brian has always been a little messy, as is any relationship. but as amanda and brian have done numerous times before, they will likely join forces for more dresden dolls. and if they dont? well then whatever they r doing in the music world is probably pretty amazing anyway. dont freak out yet dresden doll fans :)

Yeah, mainly because they included parts of his interview that directly contradicted what Amanda was saying, for example, how he says"it's not a marriage" and then they cut to Amanda saying ,"it's like being married, and yada yada yada..."
I think they really misrepresented both of them. They've had disagreements before (like the time a Youtube comment (!!!) made Brian think Amanda wanted to break up the band, but I don't think they're done just yet.

I've always gotten the impression that AP had a hard time letting creative control go enough for others to participate and that Brian was slowly getting fed up with it - there has always been a steadily building angry energy between them imo. Plus its hard to let a man get that close to your heart and then go off and date other guys and not expect things to get weird.
