I had an '06 Rabbit. It was a great car. The only reason I don't have it now is that I was in an accident and it was totaled. I'm planning on buying another one soon. I was also considering the Mazda 3, but I decided the Rabbit looks like a better deal (more horsepower - 170 vs. 153 - and one more gear for the transmission - 6 speed auto vs. 5 speed auto).

When I was your age (I'm 28 now), there was a Volkswagen I really wanted, which they don't make anymore (the Corrado). Now that I can afford a used one, I find that a lot of people selling them used want quite a bit of money for them if they're in good condition. Luckily for you, the Rabbit/Golf will probably still be around and reasonably priced by the time you can buy one. :)

I heard that VW is making a sports car under the Scirocco name again; however, it looks like it's nothing like the old Scirocco/Corrado. And they aren't selling it in the US.

I'd like to see VW bring the Corrado back, just as it was. I'd like to buy a new car soon, and I was torn between buying a new Rabbit or a used Corrado, but when it comes down to it, I think it may be better to put money into a new Rabbit (or GTI) - unless you have lots of money you can spend.

well the golf was launched as the rabbit in 1974 in the US, and then it gained the Golf badge around 1992 and then was renamed the Rabbit in 2007 (for the new MkV version) which by doing so VW hoped to regain the rabbits popularity
