I know this has been up for three years, but I remember kicking myself for missing this back in 1999 (around the same time I first saw them - supporting Jon Spencer in Manchester). Now I finally get to see it. What a fantastic band they were, and this captures them at their best, in my opinion. The Hot Rock is one of my favourite records ever.
god, this is one of my favorite songs. i really hope there is a higher-quality version of this same vid out there, cause it's probably my favorite s-k music video.
the drum part looks simple on paper, but it's so hard to play like janet.
I always think Corin's guitars are super pretty. And they're all things I have never seen before. They are regular guitars, right, even though they're tuned down?
I believe so. I can't tell you what she's playing, but I'm pretty sure they're regular guitars. She probably made sure they had a decent low-end sound.
In this video, Corin Tucker is playing a Danelectro, probably a '56 U2 (reissue?). Carrie Brownstein's guitar is a Rickenbacker 330 or 360. Both guitars are known more for clean sounds than distortion, which lends Sleater-Kinney its distinctive sound.
I have no words

@balohna the silver sparkle guitar you
sometimes see her playing is a Danelectro
DC-3. The finish is called 'silver metalflake'.
