  • Thank you You Tube for the Music, Warnerdc

  • Tdub remember when you went to the Winery Jazz Bash at Prosser, WA? That's when I first favorited a video of yours with the Uptown Lowdown Jazz Band playing Canal Street Blues.

  • @Abriggs500

Yep, that is the most heavily viewed trad jazz video on my channel. 69,431 views as of this date. I really enjoyed that festival!

    RagJazzMonkey Tom

PS. Do you attend any trad Jazz fests?

  • So would this be considered Dixieland?

  • @Abriggs500

Yes, this is a certain style of Dixieland. There are others as well.

  • What does Tdub mean anyways?

  • @Abriggs500

It is an old family secret that I can not divulge.

  • the latest from John Gill is that he found sheet music for "The Rifle Ranger's March," and it is not the same song after all.

  • Great music and great videos. Thanks for posting them.

    Raggin' in Reno,

    Tom

  • Hi there - Great to see that somebody is keeping alive the Lu watters/Bob Scobey/Turk Murphy tradition. I love the two cornet/trumpet leads - not so many bands do this these days. There is a nice Australian band called Steve Waddell's Creole Belles who play in this style and they also take in a few white Australian folksy tunes as well as original material by people like Ade Monsburgh John Sangster and Steve Waddell. Thanks for some great videos and some great music. Keep up the good work.

  • Thanks for your interesting comments and for watching!

    Have a great 2009!

  • Thanks Tom, for all the great videos. We are really enjoying them even if we don't often comment. Thanks again.

  • Thanks for watching! See you on the festival trail again one of these days!

  • Hi --

The title of this is "1919 Rag." The original title was "Rifle Ranger's March."

This from John Gill himself--I had to ask--I did not remember, either, so don't feel bad!

    cheers,

    Jon-Erik Kellso

  • Howdy JEK!

Thanks for the help with the title on this one! I posted your comment in the writeup.

Gosh I just noticed on your MySpace page that you perform with Vince Giordano. I have been a fan of Vince for several years since he came to Kansas City and played at the Folly Theater. I wonder if you were part of that gig? It was about 5 or 6 years ago.

    BEST!

    RagJazzMonkey

  • Glad to help--

I've been with the Nighthawks a long time, and yes, I was on the KC gig, a fun one.

    cheers,

    J-EK

  • @tdub1941 Yep, I was on that KC gig! cheers.

  • @jonnybogue

That KC gig was the first time I had ever seen or heard the Nighthawks. Needless to say I was totally blown away and have been ever since. FABULOUS PLUS!

Everything you are involved in is just great! I hope to bump into you again on the festival trail before too long.

    RagJazzMonkey Tom

  • @tdub1941 Thanks, Tom!

Hope to see ya sooner than later,

    Kellso
