  • ...so do you have information for us about the corresponding "break rods" which go into each type and where they might be available? I thought maybe where you were going in the video is to suggest that by buying the newer rod which breaks easier, one could "update" an older plate to make it compliant now. -Thanks

  • @Federal3t22 Also, what is the difference between the ones that say "Local Alarm" and the ones that say "Fire Alarm?"

  • @SecretService80 they're exactlly the same, If the pull is used in a local system, which is a system that does not transmit an alarm to a central monitering service or local dispatch center (common on older systems, and certain places that may moniter it themselves) is has to be marked as a "local alarm". If the system is monitered than it'll be labled as "fire alarm" (common on newer systems).

  • @Federal3t22 So essentially, the pulls that say "Local Alarm" don't send a signal to the fire department, just set off the alarm in the building, but the "Fire Alarm" ones are wired into the dispatch center?

  • @Federal3t22 What exactly is the break rod for? If it's to minimize pranking, well, anyone who is intent on pulling the damn thing is not going to be stopped by that puny little piece of plastic. Please explain.

  • @SecretService80 the break rod on EST pulls are glass. THey main pripose is to help hold the hancle in place, especially on the 270-SPO. Usually to help minimize pranksters for most pulls they''d install a cover called a Stopper over it which once opened hangs off some wire (non electrfyed) and emits a loud piercing screech which would attract attention from anyone near by, or even install a servalence camera near the pull.

  • @Federal3t22 Yeah, I've seen those lift cover stoppers. Thanks.

    :o)

  • I noticed one of these a few days ago and saw a little clear bar right under where you pull. It appeared to have a spot in it, like it was supposed to break when you pulled it. Do you know what that is?

  • @dillonrockband if you mean the little glass rod under the handle, that's a break rod which is designed to break in half once pulled.. IBM/Simplex/Faraday Chevons, Gamewell "full moon" Centreys, and originally 4251-20 T-bars before simplex switched to plastic rods had them as well. All of thses have notches in them to ease in breaking so the handle is not too hard to pull..
