Too bad Cleese is so old now. 20 years ago he could have been an excellent Closaeu and maybe he could have pulled it off with Gilliam as new director. I haven't even seen the Martin movies since I regard them as heresy. All the movies Edwards made after Sellers died sucked big time. The only actor I could have given a chance is Jim Carrey. The disguises he uses as Count Olaf is very Closaeu-like.

Peter Sellers is mostly underestimated as a type cast actor no more than the good old inspector but he has other movies just as good, Being There was funny as hell, it was a political movie and the crown jewel of Sellers' career i think, this guy is not a class specific clown like Steve Martin or that hyper Italian guy mehh

Yes,Steve Martin fucked it up. But LA Story is still one of my all time favorites so i`m still a fan. I guess with Kevin Kline as Clouseau we would have had another Big Time in Cinema but shit happens.I`ve seen only 10 minutes of the new film and realized it was awful so i stopped watching before gettin angry.

For years I thought there was only person that could've pulled off the Inspector, with Peter Sellers gone: KEVIN KLINE! but what happens: Steve Martin just couldn't see the forest for the trees. I saw the remake/redo/lame copy last night and while some parts were classic Pink Panther gags, every time i saw Kevin Kline i wondered why he wasn't the inspector? I didn't enjoy it.

You are so correct Sir. Peter was the master of subtlety to the absurd. Steve Martin has incredible depth as an actor, director, musician, but not as a comedian. Steve is very one-dimensional in his comedy. Sellers had depth as a comedian, and that's what we miss.
