Really laggy? Challenge accepted. I played Minecraft on a 12 year old computer (About 1999). I've upgraded a few times, but it hadn't been enough. I had like, 5 FPS at best, 7 - 10 if I was lucky, 30 would've been an extremely rare miracle. (Is now on a better computer, specifically saying, Alienware.)

you should try chunkster on your map cause you probably got bad chunks from crashing or your computer not being turned off properly.

If that doesnt fix it then check your cpu usage from other processes, expect java to use alot of cpu time.

I use to not even be able to fight aether bosses on lowest settings cause of massive lag, now i can have far view on and fancy graphics and im still hitting over 30 fps. McRegion is suppose to help too, but can't find an update for 1.7 but still :)

Once I made a building 64 blocks by 64 blocks and it went up to the sky limit. There was 15 floors all made of wood. For lighting I used nether dirt and lit it on fire then left to get more dirt. I came back and it was all gone. That was before I got inventory edit.
