I love Zeppelin alot. Too much! I think even today the remaining members are extremely emotionally powerful. But robert doesn't have it in him anymore. He should adjust his vocals with age.
Led Zeppelin wrote this song in 1970. It took Jimmy Page and Robert Plant 24 years to properly age into what the song really required...not unlike Clint Eastwood waiting for himself to mature into what would become "Unforgiven". You really do need to live, love and lose to be a true bluesman...
This tune has got to be the best thing that ever hit the music business and the world for that matter! Words can not express how powerful this band is. To this day I still get mezmorized and go into stare when I hear this song. I just love them and wish time woiuld go away, so we all could LIVE happly ever after! LED ZEPPLIN FOREVER!
37 years old...have heard LZ since I was in diapers, and the music STILL floors me every time I hear it. I remember how excited I was when Page&Plant did their UnLedded project, as well as this tour....yes, LZ was a combination of Robert, Jimmy, Bonzo and Jonesy that made the music so great. But having at least the voice and that sweet, sweet '59 Les Paul Standard being lorded over by Page made me feel GOOD(I bet Joe Walsh is STILL kicking himself for having sold it).
people stop bashing them not playing with JPJ. why they have to play with JPJ?at least they didnt call it zeppelin. it page and plant.they can play with whoever they want .im not against JPJ or anything, but just tried of seeing every videos of page and plant there were people bashing them not play with JPJ, got over it, people

Glad Jimmy Page pulled himself together after the drugs in the late 70s early 80s. He was pro, then a little less pro, then quite sloppy, then pretty pro again!
I have this DVD. At 2:08, Robert turns and looks at Michael Lee and the look on Lee's face is priceless. I think he was having a little too much fun and Robert wanted him to settle down a bit. (That was my take on it anyway).
Page and Gilmore.....few could squeeze as much emotion from a single sustained note nor endlessly string as many of same together into a seemless story told on guitar
why do i feel something when i listen to this song? i feel honesty, pleasure, dissapointment , i dunno what else, i feel everything at the same time its so awesome jeez <3
Absolutely fabulous. Out of all the Plant & Page collaborations, I believe they were most in their post-Zep element doing the slower numbers. Examples include this song, No Quarter, Ten Years Gone, etc.
Great to see it. I've got it on VHS too, recorded from the Beeb, it was the second half of a documentary. I fell in love with the blond violinist! Oh and sorry, Robert, the drumming is stunning and, as far as I'm concerned, so much better than John was; and he looks so happy! Where did you get the non BBC tracks from, Mr Hammer? I haven't got The Rain Song or The Battle of Evermore on my VHS.
@Quanticco The Rain Song and Battle of Evermore...they're on the DVD "Plant and Page Unledded," and I now realize that the documentary you mentioned is probably what's on that DVD too. I thought I was missing something the way you described it lol Sorry for troubling you, but I had to make sure I didn't miss out on a Zep documentary.
@Quanticco BTW, I love that drummer too (Michael Lee is his name, I think), who, sadly, is no longer with us. But he is in no way, shape, or form better than Mr. John Henry Bonham IMHO....sorry. Oh -- And you'd be wearing a big ol' shit-eatin' grin too if you were touring and playing onstage with Page and Plant! ;-)
Sincerest thanks for your responses on the documentary!
this is one of the best blues song i have ever heard in my life! inspired from guitar playing of bb king but its got this whole lot of jimmy page style as well! this song just give me shivers!!
Great performance. Page is amazing as always and Plant's performance has some of that spark from his glory days. Not as good as young Plant but still amazing.
4:51 to 4:57 Holy shit great moment! Made the hairs on my neck stand up! And Page's solo was fantastic and full of soul like the rest of the song. WHAT A MAGICAL NIGHT THIS WAS! No one beats Plant and Page, along side John Paul Jones and John Bonham.
@funkymonk80 I recorded it on VHS from MTV and jimmy played notes in places you dont actually hear in this version, like theyve cut them out to clean it up but I prefer the original im used to it.
Just amazing!! watched an old documentary on how Page took many takes for this song on the orignal album to get it perfect. This is as good or better in one take and live. Bravo. This and Shine on You Crazy Diamond will always be my 2 favorite songs.
@PFTome Its unusualy good for page I always thought that. Ive alwasy thought of him as a session guitarist thats too good to be hiding in some studio.
@LedLass It was a documentary on the Beeb. The first half was about the trip to Egypt, bits of playing music with the locals etc, I'm afraid I haven't got that half, then the second half was tracks from the concert, they are all here and more from Mr HammerIn. Don't have the date, im afraid, as being on VHS, it's undated. I can give you the year from the credits (if I let them run that far) if you want.
@KingovtdaStump well my favourite version is 1973 at Madison Square garden. It's on the DVD and the song remains the same. Brilliantly intro. try it if you aint seen it. However most big ZEP fans will of
