i have a turntable wich seems to allow me to listen to this records (i say that it seems 'cause it's modern first of all but it has the 78 rpm speed...the only problem is that i'm not sure about the needle) but anyway i hope that i can do it :-)
@mtv70pn there's the needledoctor web site that you can order 78 needles for your type of modern turntable i have gemini PT2400 which i bought close to 10 yrs. ago it's a DJ turntable that plays 78 the needle which i ordered on line was the ortofon 78 stylus it might cost a prettty penny but it's worth it..
A totaly different era and time ..... harmony ... counter point ... contra point .... music as entertainment ..... and a studied art ......... days long gone .... if I'd had one more daughter ...... oh well ....
I know nowadays we have cds that have clear sound, but I actually like the scratchiness of lps. I have a glenn miller cd that says it tried to clean it up a bit but because of the magnetic tape (or lack of it?) there was still some scratchiness. I love the authentic sound of it...i don't know, maybe it's just me that prefers it this way.........
15 years old. If I only had one wish, it would be to have been born in these years, when the music overpowered your soul, and gave you the best musical experience of your life!
My grandmother used to sing this song all the time. She passed away at the age of 90 this past year and song will always give me nice memories. Thanks for posting it!
No one should be embarassed to listen to such great music. All my life childhood, I have enjoyed this music and all big band. None of my friends in high school even knew about the music.
Don't be embarrassed about what you love. Be yourself. I'm 15 and I love this of music too! It's great stuff! It's not your fault or mine that we love the classics!
want those 78s to sound better: seriously...on one that you can spare, put
ajax and a clean sponge...water to lather the ajax and clean in the direction of the grooves with the sponge and rince thoroughly. i did it with one that i thought was forever gone, and it worked and ive done it ever since. like i said: use one that is on its way out the door and see if i know what im talking about.
