  • When R4-D2 lost his head

    Obi-Wan: oh, dear

    If R2-D2 lost his head

    Anakin: NOOOOOOOOOOO0000000ooooooooo!!!!!!!

  • I hated that he just didn't use the force to just kill the buzz droids

  • Obi wan: Flying is for droids.

And those missiles are controlled by droids. LOL

  • Why did the missles become......

There is NO WAY IN HELL that can be cost- efficient

  • 0:09 -1:10 I imagined is what the space battle will be against the final battle against the Reapers in Mass Effect 3...I get the feeling there will be some actual close quarter combat...

  • And how did I forget Babylon 5? The battles of Seasons 3 and 4 put this to shame.

  • This would have been an amazing sequence had it not spent so much time focusing on the Jedis and their personal problems. Hundreds of ships in the fight and you see almost none of the scale of the fleet battle. Most of it is just static background for the main characters to fly around. Stargate, Serenity, Battlestar Galactica, Deep Space 9 even other Star Wars movies have created more impressive scenes.

  • And this is why I love Star Wars.

  • This was the best of the prequels. After looking at it you know the answer to one question. Who is a bad ass Jedi? Obi Wan is a bad ass Jedi.

  • The most thrilling space battle sequence in cinema history!!!

If ROTJ had the benefit of the updated CGI I think it would have put this to shame. This is stil a good battle just suffers from bad acting.

  • This is garbage. There are so many better space battles in other movies, like the one in Serenity between the alliance and the reavers, now THAT was a space battle.

  • I think I watched this film once, will need to again. Lets see if they can deliver battles like this in the MMO game due next 2011!

  • i dont care what they say, i see nothing wrong with the CGI of this movie. Although I will always have a problem with the "gravity in space" issue, and the amount of unnecessary CGI in ground scenes. And the bright, colorful lights from the planet thing... hmmm maybe the CGI effect me... never mind. SCREW YOU GL!

  • ......im sorry, but ima huge star wars fan, and even so, the space battles in the prequals made me want to cut myself.

  • :33

Oh god, so terrible. I just love how the animators made Obiwan and Anakin to the exact same little barrel rolls, how cute. Am I the only one who completely hates the space battles in the prequels?

  • im sorry ive tolerated the new films, but im sick of them now, the acting is terrible because EVERYTHING is bluescreened, it must be very hard to act in that environment!

If you want the best space battle watch the battle of endor!

  • "I'm not leaving without you master."

  • ey this is a shet the ships are to closer they are space ships no sea ships and they dont have military training

  • 4:58

its nice how that space wind blows the buzz droid away... ¬_¬

    this film suck so bad.

androids saying ouch ouch? wthf? fail.

  • Ships look like lego lol , they messed these films up so bad.

  • with all that R2's been through it's suprising the first time he gets shot is at endor

  • Man, Kenobi seems like a little bitch in this movie.

  • agreed

  • poor r4

  • why would droids cry out in pain? wtf lol

  • Furthermore, why exactly would drones communicate verbally when they could do it a million times faster wirelessly? Why do they ask stupid questions when they have enough storage capacity for the equivalent of a million Wikipedias? The drones in Star Wars...not so realistic, no.

  • if communication is bad then wireless would kill them. but with verbal they can aviod that

  • So why do they speak the language that their enemies understand instead of the verbal equivalent of a barcode that can't easily be decoded and take a tenth of the time to say? For that matter why don't the communicate wirelessly unless they're being jammed (and they aren't on their own ships, lol). ;)

  • in the end its funnyer

  • It saddened me when this scene could have been so, so, so much better than how it happened. Also, how were they really expecting to save a single old man in their one man fighters anyways?

  • ...um...the way they actually did it...

  • eah it did sadden me, i'm sure they intended to hi jack a larger ship

  • There's some quite cool shots in this one, but I'd prefer the battle to be the main thing instead of a rescue

Episode 3 probably had a little too much in the way of lightsaber fighting

  • No battle in big-screen history can match the one a few Finnish guys on a shoestring budget did for In the Pirkinning.

  • Great special effects but overall a complete letdown. No tension. I didn't care who got blown up.

  • It can't even hold my attention for the full 6 minutes. The acting and chatter is a little flat too.

  • I only cared about who didn't get blown up. Bad acting should be met with explosions.

  • What if Lucas added some more stuff to the action, like more Jedi Starfighters sent to look for the vessel in which Palpatine was located and instead of massive chaos u could actually follow the continuity of the battle instead of just seeind ships get blown up in the background, buzz droid sequence gets annoying really fast.

  • Wow! At 1:19, if you look in the background. You'll see a republic ship just getting toasted..ouch!

  • and at 1:22 the same ship has no damage

  • They must have the best damn repair team in the fleet! lol

  • best space battles are in battlestar galactica

  • AHAHAHA, you made my whole freakin day.

Nothing Beats The Star Wars Battle Of Endor.

  • BSG Does. And it beats with with a blood soaked flashlight

  • I REALLY want to watch BSG, if the space battles really are better than the ones in Stargate, then they must be great

  • u can just watch my bsg vid ;)

  • Thanks, tempting, but I only know a few things about BSG and I'd rather watch the whole thing in HD on my 46'' screen

You gotta admit that would be better than just seeing youtube videos of it

  • well its a series with 4 seasons so it might take some time^^

  • *shrug*

I watched a season of Stargate Atlantis in two days.

  • oO ok have fun :D

  • me 2 lol, 2 seasons

  • they really fell through with this one, really let me down

  • why the hell he made the droids make those absolutely stupid ridiculous noises when the got "hurt" is beyond me.

it made my want to demand a refund from the cinema when i heard that dross.

also, bab-5 or sg had better space battles.

  • "The most thrilling space battle sequence in cinema history!!!"

Nah,not by a long shot. The whole battle seems so static, the music is VERY bland and the droids are just stupid.

  • I agree. The special effects are great but the entire scene has the stench of Lucas's writing.

  • begin called a Oddball is now a compliment

  • I remember watching this in the theatre. I actually got goosebumps at the first minute and a half; it felt like the old "magic" of the originals. Then they started talking...

Even though the prequels are crap, the first minute of this movie is good. That's pretty depressing though, when you think about it.

  • Yeah I Know! Me 2! It caught me off guard! There was this star destroyer over the planet and im like.."hmmm..."

. Then two ships come along and im like "Ok.."

Then suddenly they fly under the ship and this monsterous space battle emerges from nowhere and im like "HOLY SHIT!"

  • @Mattastic97 idk, I think Ewin McGreigor made a good Obi Wan. Obviously Anakin sucked in the first three mobies, though. "Derp, I'm going to go from being a super emo to a bad ass over the course of 2 movies."

  • @Mattastic97 idk, I think Ewin McGreigor made a good Obi Wan. Obviously Anakin sucked in the first three movies, though. "Derp, I'm going to go from being a super emo to a bad ass over the course of 2 movies."

  • And btw - you can easily record something in space....ever heard of windows/portholes? Or multi-spectral imaging? Or even plain old scanners?

  • Its not about recording something and changing it into sound waves. The fact that is being discussed here is about sound waves in space. There is no sound in space because there is no dense atmosphere to allow sound particles to move.

  • There is no sound in space \O_o/

  • Who gives a fuck about no sound in space.

Did you also know that there isnt any CCTV in space either. You retard!

No Sound and No TV Camera.

  • Classic response - thanks for teh lulz!

  • Oh noe.

    You fed the TROLL.

  • long live the Star Trek!!! :P

  • Star "TREK"? I hope you're joking

  • Be glad these videos are still on here. Yes they will be removed soon.

  • this will be taken off, there is no copyright. you gave no credit.

  • this will be taken off, therXXXXXXXXX STFU YOU FUCKIN LITTLE WHINER

  • false video title

  • The troops are doing the fighting.. the two jedi are on a mission to save the chancellor.. thats their job

  • This scene shows anakins devotion to the troops and his master obi wan.

  • yeah thats a really shit battle. Idiot little drone things...

  • People always complain about every little thing. Don't try to bring everything else down just because it didn't meet your exact specifications.

  • where is the space battle?

  • In the movie it takes place above Coruscant

  • I know where it takes place, what I ment by my question was that this clip doesn't really show a space battle ... it's not what you expect :)

  • Well it SHOWS one, but obi-wan nor anakin doesn't take part in it.

  • I agree, but I was looking for a space battle, and based on the title of this clip I expected a space battle, it's misleading and I was really disapointed ... that's why I asked ... where is the space battle, it sure isn't in this video ... :(

  • so how is this not a space battle?

im confused now, yours is one of many comments like this

  • the space battle is in the backround, you can barely see it ... if you want to understand what I mean by space battle watch this video: Star Trek Deep Space Nine: Sacrifice of Angels.

  • "I'm going to help him out.." "No.. no.. they are doing their job now we can do ours."

  • Yea...thats how caring Jedi became after the Sith wars 4000 years before these events, all that taught them nothing.....They deserved to fall.

  • So you think the sith who rely on their passion for their strength and "think inwards only about themselves" should win then? 2 jedi craft against all of greviouses ships.. they were sent on a mission like special forces are.

  • Na, I was just kidding. Unlike the Sith, the Jedi learn their lessons, as they after and during the events that occurred in the new Jedi Order.

  • BOOM! at 1:03

  • 1:03 demonstrates the power of the republic, one shot KO!

  • i love the 1:03 shot, it´s the best part, the sound is funny, and the hit is perfect :)

  • In space there is no sound because there is no air to carry it.

  • i know, tell that to the one who made the sound effects, not me.

  • That was meant to be a reply to someone sorry lol. When Anakin says reverse thrusters there is a podracer sound lol.

  • i like how obi wan on 3:41 says "oh dear"

  • I'm not a big fan of the spinning, roaming camera angles. Makes everything look overly CGI. Compared with the originals the 3 prequels feel rushed, to much reliance on effects and not enough character building. Still entertaining though.

  • concertchoir3

NO it's not it's the most AWESOME BATTLE SWQUENCE IN CINEMA HISTORY OF THE STAR WARS SAGA!

  • They should have halved Episode 2 and put half of Episode 3 in there... and expanded the last of the movies.

  • man the arc 170's are superiority fighters they should lasted alot longer. gotta love em though.

  • Concertchoir3

    the arc means aggressivereconnansence

the arc 170 fighters evolve into the X-WINGS!

  • Seems to play a bit fast

  • when i first saw this movie, i thought ok... why is that big ship there. But when they flew under, BOOM! BANG!! be-Bu!!!! OMG!! THE PLANET IS UNDER ATTACK!!! AHHHH!!!

  • Impressive visuals, boring-ass battle.

Reavers vs the Alliance in Serenity was a much smaller, much shorter battle sequence but infinitely more interesting and exciting.

  • yeah it was INTENSE!!

  • True this is the best space battle in cinema history, it comes from a very small list.

  • hahah the little machines are soo cute

  • This opening sequence is almost as good as the one from the original Star Wars. Sith took me by surprise. It was a good, old-fashioned, rollicking space adventure. Exactly what Star Wars should be.

  • Should be the operative world. There weren't enough star wars in Star Wars.

  • Revenge of the Sith is shit. The prequels never existed, imo. =/

  • Star trek battles were junk and only better than the original star wars battles, this is good stuff. The only thing better than the new star wars battles is Battlestar Galactica.

  • Sucky movie, but the battles Kick Ass. Hurahh!

  • I love Star Wars^^

lol, in Star Trek the explosions are so unrealistic XD if an 2 meters long ship explode, there is an 2 kilometers long explosion and there aren't any fragments. And the most realistic battles are in Batlestar Galactica

  • thats because Star Trek ships use matter-antimatter engines, dork

  • I have no idea from star trek, sorry and i also forget ds9 or enterprise and there are fragments... so forget my comment^^ but its looks nicer with fragments^^

  • Ohhh,I agree..and am sorry I snaped..but DS9 battle's were pretty awesome

  • Oh year XD

  • nope, the latest starwars movies and stargate got far superior space battles, star trek is just... sucky..

  • stfu

  • It's not really Sci-Fi at all. More fantasy than anything else. "Space Opera" if you want the stuff academic term.

  • This space battle is like a baby toy compared to the Star Trek space battles. These are so unrealistic, and it looks more like a video game....Pfew Pfew Pfew...

Star Trek is much more realistic than this crap.

  • ITS A TRAP!

  • Iwatch star trek movies and they have fiery explosions in space So does Babylon five.Would not be exciting battles in space without them

  • ok nerds,,,fire make no sound in space,,no air,,is a vacuum,,,and of yeah,,,this is A MOVIE,,,not real remenber

  • Actually their on the borderline of the planet's atmosphere or that least that's what the commentary said :P

  • Yes.

  • thanks. I thought star wars was a documentury about a real space civilization. Thanks for telling me it was fiction.

  • I always thought turbo-lasers were very large cannons, not lasers that took a few moments to end. I suppose it's in the name, yes?

  • The ships have tons of fuel in them... How about sound?

  • hmm, maybe the oxygen in the ships could make the fire/explosions? or even the fact that the ships have different materials that we cant possibly imagine... or maybe George Lucas and every other sci-fi producer 4got about this small fact

  • not every producer 4got about sound in battlestar galacctica there is no sound

  • galactica is good show.. less cartoonish than star wars.

  • don't forget firefly

  • Is it just me or does the song sound higher than in the DVD?

  • ok.. for all those bitching about fire in space (besides, they are in the atmosphere). Think about it, you accept the 'force' and light speed, but you cant get passed fire in space!!!!! OMG!!!

  • lol!

  • they are in the atmosphere, it says so in the dvd commentaries.

  • Okay, here's the final count on fire in space. If fire could not ever exist in space....EXPLAIN THE SUN! O.O; lol Yeah, kind of a blatant overkill, but still, if fire couldn't exist in space, then we wouldn't have stars. :)

  • fire requires oxygen which space has none of. The sun is made of plasma, much hotter than fire and a byproduct of fission taking place in its core

  • Yes, but you forget that the plasma in which the sun is fueled is made primarily of elements which include oxygen, hydrogen, and other flammable gases. Fire does not need oxygen so long as it has a catalyst to ignite and burn from.

  • It is not very realistic!

  • I dunno, I like the battles in Legend of the Galactic Heroes a bit more.

  • no u idiot its a turbo laser battery

  • vinbuik is right.

  • its not called SPHA-T's in the star wars scimatics book they are called a turbolaser battery

  • You're both right, its just that one of you knows the specific name of the turbolaser battery.

Its like arguing, "no thats not a P-40 its a sub-machine gun!"

  • WTF was that gun at 1:02 ?! A mini -deathstar -Laser ? That was badass!

  • for the ultimate nerd answer - that gun was fired from a SPHA-T out of the Republic attack cruiser's hangar bay. SPHAT_Ts are those big walking cannons seen at the end of attack of the clones, the ones that shoot down the escaping balls, the ones that yoda tells them to shoot at and shit.

  • lol 3:34 obi wan sounds like C3PO when talked to R4D2.

  • may the force be with you.

  • One thing irritates me to my very core, this movie did not get a single oscar award...

and yet I feel this scene on its definitely earned every possible nomination! >:(

  • This is not exactly space though, they're fighting in Courascant atmosphere.

    Hence the smoke and fire...

  • fire can still shoot out into space through a vented blast hole and smoek can exist in space as clouds of vapor, also it can technically not be smoke, but rather the vaporized metal from when a laser hit the hull

  • the siege of coruscant.

  • star wars vs battle

  • Yeah no Sci Film is ever going to be realistic because Hollywood fails to recognise that space is a vaccum. Besides a soundless space battle would be kinda boring

  • do you know what would happen if something blows up in space. Because I don't know.

  • *cough cough* 2001: A Space Odyssey *cough*

  • I think it was a safe, even though ridiculous, precation for those in command. :/

  • It looked too easy. They were like walking in the park enjoying them selves while everybody else were fighting. They did not even try taking on a "war face". This pushed me out of my sence of "realism" of the battle. Also, the little things like racing missles and doing all other things than actually fighting is so old. Why do they have to use 30 sec outrunning missles, it is used in every air/space battle scene.

All the little details tiped this over to, in my opinion, unrealism.

  • Spacecraft do't make noise as they "fly".

    Realism was never any good.

  • I did not mean real world realism. The whole concept of Star Wars would not fit then. But, in the movies context I must be able to belive the scenes.

It is just like in an action movie, the car chases are often spectacular, in real life the cars should be destroyed after the first 20 meter long 2 meter high jump, but it is good entertainment.

  • How ever, if the driver then desides to flip the car up on two wheels and drive up the wall on an large building, jumping of the edge landing on an elevated highway ramp, and then continue driving, the movie looses the fealing of realism in the context the movie is made in.

How "unreal" the scenes can be before it gets stupid would of corse depend on the movies own context and given boundaries.

  • ...

  • Ah, suspension of disbelief.

I lost that when I heard the droid's new Mike Tyson voices... So stupid...

  • i like the moment at 0:59

    Boooom and whoooosh :P

  • I liked this scene, but there should have been dogfights like in the book.
