  • hahahahahaha! Thank you thank you thank you! I loved star wars as a youngster. It opened up my imagination to fuel my mind for what my company does today. Without it, the dullards who imagine nothing would still be sending smoke signals instead of using my company's technology (thus making me wealthy).

  • two wokkies, red fox,a gay comander, female and dancing gay stromtroppers, gay dorids, bad acting ,and donnie and marie............ALL GAY!!!!!!

  • Oh good lord why oh why did I view this horrible clip.

  • Please Daddy. Make it stop.

  • It was the 70's. Everyone was high.

  • First off, Marie made a pretty hot Princess Leia.

It's really cool seeing and reliving the popularity of SW during the OT period. This, Mark Hamill(and his cousin Luke) on the Muppet Show, The Holiday Special(enjoyable enough when you fast-forward to the parts that have the REAL Star Wars characters in it), R2 & 3PO's appearances on Sesame Street, etc.

Yeah, take these things too seriously, it's absurd. But watch them for what they are, they've got a vintage coolness to them.

  • two words. wear a t shirt donnie-asshole

  • Poor Redd Foxx. His new show without Lamont was doomed to failure that year. It was very short-lived.

  • Donny/Luke is wearing the wrong boots, his outfit is tan, Leia/Marie's belt is wrong, but on the good size Marie's headlights are on full.

  • this made no sense

  • "Lucas' Lawyers assure us, that George Lucas did NOT get the brother an sister Idea from this"-MAD Magazine.

  • The Americans had Donny and Marie and we in Canada had Rene Simard. It was a dark, tacky time. The one thing they got right was the brother and sister Luke-Leia casting.

  • I think the dancing storm troopers are my favorite part.

  • How in the world have I never seen or heard of this? I'm 41 years old, and I grew up with the original trilogy.

  • Red Fox!!

  • Thank you so much for posting this! I recorded it on audio cassette back then.... loved the show and this hokay spoof.

  • This is way better than anything in the Prequels.

  • man, they must have had good drugs back then!

  • @RoninDave "and you know that, maaaaaannnnn!"

  • They are siblings? They act like their gf and bf

  • @Xfrimz eeeeeewwww... where did you get that from? All I see is choreographed dancing, singing, and acting. Nothing that would suggest romantic inclination... ? One minute my kids act as if they can't stand one another, the next minute they seem to be frolicking a bit too much. Its what even tempered opposite sex siblings do I guess...

  • @networkofsales if you watch family guy......

  • Pretty sure Kristopherson is drunk or on drugs or both.

  • And this is why I'm glad that I am a Trekkie...

  • @rducky01 But Williams Shatners acting is just as cheesy as this

  • …what the fuck are they inserting into my childhood memories?

shit…its a giant 12 foot dick that is tearing the tissues of childhood gleam arpart

  • Is that Whistler from the Blade Movies?

  • Why are commenters so upset at the ridiculousness? Isn't this *supposed* to be funny? The word "farce" is in one of the lines! The spoof of the Star Wars opening...didn't that suggest to anyone in the first 30 seconds that this was purposefully over the top and silly? Am I missing some piece of critical background that would suggest this was meant seriously? Because otherwise, sheesh!

  • @openboater sometimes we all have too much time on our hands...

  • Just. Awful.

  • Just. Awful.

  • Saw that guy at 4:20 at the London Dungeon lol

  • So utterly bizarre... hard to imagine that either this or the Star Wars Holiday Special were made without any drugs...

  • So... is this foreshadowing that Luke and Leia were related?

  • I desperately need to put something else into my brain to counteract the bitter memory of watching this. Where's that infamous Rick Astley video when you really need it?

  • Obviously some LSD involved in the making of this, LOL

  • I remembered watching this when it originally aired but could only recall Paul Lynde dressed as Grand Moff Tarkin singing Come Back To Me. Now I see why. Obviously I'd been horribly traumatised.

Btw this video has the best viewer comments on YouTube!

  • it's great that nuggets like these are preserved just to show how puke-inducing the osmonds were and ARE. just remember this while marie is schilling her creepy-ass dolls on home shopping or donnie is in concert at the dogtrack nearest you! nostalgia is not validation of "talent".

  • wow did Marie ever wear the metal bikini?

  • wait what did I just watch?

  • How appropriate. Luke and Leia were siblings too...

  • Han Solo singing Sly And The Family Stone...that never came to my mind...LOL and Stormtroopers singing and dancing to ' Get Ready"...that inspired Glee for sure LOL.

  • The stormtrooper song sounds like a rapist song...

  • And then he made Star Wars Xmas

  • 'Luke' has high heel boots

  • Donny and Marie are Mormons and Battlestar Galactica whoch was a Star Wars rip off was devised by Glen A Larson who was also a Mormon

  • We’re Darth Vader’s raiders and we can’t believe the things that you do You’re not right We never had a trooper play hide-and-seek the way that you do You’re out of sight But fee-fi-fo-fum, look out people ‘cos here we come We know just what to do with you so get ready, get ready We change your tune and we’re through with you so get ready, get ready Here we come Get ready, ‘cos here we come Get ready, ‘cos here we come Get ready, ‘cos here we come Gotcha!
  • the stormtrooper dance number at 6:10. haha

  • I got 6:00 in. I think that means I'm prety strong.

  • Even R2D2 was in disbelief when he saw the troopers disco dancing their way in, look at the way he shakes his head in embarrasment. (6:15)

  • Okey Banokie Fanokie ... OKEY BANOKIE FANOKIE...??? I did hear that right didn't I? 1:56

  • this makes the holiday christmas special seem like empire strikes back

  • I had no idea this even existed, this just made my evening

  • wtf danceing storm troopers

  • even more awesome than the Star Wars Christmas Special

  • even more awesome than the Star Wars Christmas Special

  • I remember seeing this when I was a kid. I couldn't wait for it to start and then when it did, it was awful. I thought it was gay then before I even knew what gay was. I felt so ashamed. Did they even see the movie before they did this? "My force"? What? It's so ridiculous.

  • @skevmon You have every right to dislike this video, but calling something you don't like "gay" is offensive.

  • @openboater Well I sure hope so. That was was totally my intention to offend people with three little letters. Oh please, I wrote that something was gay. Somone call a cop.

  • @skevmon I'm sure you didn't mean to be offensive. People use this term conversationally all the time without thinking. That's why I thought it polite to let you know how your comment affected at least one person. I see that you are annoyed that I mentioned it and I'm sorry you feel that a small word can't possibly be offensive. Many people won't speak up and say it's offensive, but I do, and over the years quite a few gay students have thanked me for not ignoring it.

  • @openboater Fair enough. ...The video is still terrible though.

  • @openboater Now-a-days (ha!) when someone says something is "Gay", mostly means "terrible", not homosexual. This weekend, Tom Brady, of the New England Patriots, said his performance "sucked". Awhile back I explained to my kid that when they used the word, they were using a word that originated from saying "suck d*ck", as in "your hair is ugly", reply: "oh yeah? well, you suck d*ck man". Shortened to "you suck". Now, its common, as "boy, gay, and nigga" are becoming. Words.

  • Thurl Ravenscroft also voiced one of the singing busts in Disneyland's Haunted Mansion.

  • This is pure gold!

  • You know.....I don't think I would mind if Donny wore that outfit all the time. Shew! ;)

  • The sight of the stormtroopers entering like the Temptations was HILARIOUS and something I won't get out of my mind's eye for a long time. :)

  • OMG Marie looks just like my sister. I remember watching this when I was a kid. Cant believe this is on here, YES!! what year was this broadcasted?

  • Priness Leia Our goose is cooked ..

    Couldn't get passed that part

  • @sniperte Yeah, when the disco kicks in, I feel embarassed and hit "stop". I remember watching this as a kindergartner, good thing I was a complete idiot and didn't mind it at the time. Same story with the Star Wars Christmas Special...spent years looking for it, found it, and immediately wished I hadn't.

  • Donnie and Marie Star Wars

  • Typical. Just don't get what makes Star Wars, Star Wars.

  • *pukes*

    awesome :-)

  • I've heard this is what they were using at GItmo that finally crossed the line. Even Cheney (orig. inspiration for Vader) couldn't stomach it.

  • Comment removed

  • I can't believe how hairy Donny's chest was, and at such a young age! Given the "Star Wars" theme of this sketch, it must have been about 1977. That would make him 20 years old. Just a baby, and already such a man. : )

  • That looks terrible.

    Cannot... watch.. any.. longer..

  • Looks like Luke borrowed his boots from his sis.

BTW, who would have guessed that the Osmonds predicted Lucas's sibling surprise?!

  • The things TV viewers found entertaining 33 years ago makes me feel light headed. Red Foxx as Obi Won rocks though!!!!

  • Marie Osmond has a good pair of norks, though.

  • @cptrelentless

    First thing I noticed too!

  • This abomination should be fired into the sun without delay.

As for D & M, they should be sent to Eli Roth's Hostel instead, where they can discover a new definition in pain and suffering... something they've just inflicted on me in a completely unprovoked assault I shall be reporting to the authorities first thing in the morning... once I've regained my sight and hearing.

  • You do realise this video will be embedded in your memory and digested slowly over a thousand years.

  • Oh. My. Fucking. Chirst.

I have to gouge out my own eyes now...

  • I have watched videos of people being eaten by tigers, people involved in road accidents, people losing limbs in machinery, people crashing aircraft and burning alive, but nothing...

nothing is as bad as what I just watched here today. This is truly the most repulsive 10 mins of video I have ever seen.

  • Yeah, I loved it and it downloaded really slow. :)

  • Like Paul Lynde would have an army of FEMALE Stormtroopers! LOL!

  • What has been seen, cannot be unseen...

well at least it was better then the SW holiday special :)

  • Only because of YouTube do we have easy access to nuggets of 1970s popular culture/kitsch like this. They would otherwise be effectively lost forever (or stuck in some dusty archive in Los Angeles).

Where else could we see Paul Lynde, Redd Foxx, R2D2, C3PO, Donny and Marie Osmond, Kris Kristofferson, and Thurl Ravenscroft in a single 10-minute sketch.

Sure, it's laughable today, but it opens a window on what were the salient cultural trends in 1977-78.

  • @rickinchvilleva

Thank you God for inventing copyright infringement so that we may see the error of our televisual ways and repent for our past entertainment sins. May you give us the strength to only produce HD reality television instead of the homosexual abomination that we see embeded before us.

    Amen.

  • @rickinchvilleva .....i agree 100%...it''s funny watching this now from a thirty plus year perspective, still like you said just being able to have this just "punch it up" access to material that will NEVER be available anywhere and in anyway is really special. this is probably the first generation to have this kind of instant access to at least 95% of its past culture.

  • Simpleinthehead said the voice of Vader was Boris Karloff which is incorrect. Anyone who was old enough to remember all those Kelloggs cereal commercials recognizes that voice as Tony The Tiger!

  • It's Boris Karloff's voice as Darth!

  • "By the power of my force!"

    WTF.

  • @mhennek , it is a spoof dude.

  • Force - kin I think.

  • Once you see it, you can't un-see it, no matter how hard you want to.

  • I hate to say this but Donnie could've been Luke with no problem.

  • who ever green lighted this abortion should be fucking shot.possibley the worst television episode ever.while Donny and marie were talented this was a stretch even for them

  • Red Foxx's comment about the Sanford system not having a 'Sun' is most likely a reference to the show called just 'Sanford'. It aired in 1980 - three years after 'Sanford and Son' was cancelled.

  • I know that's not James Earl Jones doing Darth Vader's voice, but it sure sounds like Thurl Ravenscroft (voice of Tony the Tiger).

  • I can't decide which is cheesier. This or the "Star Wars Holiday Special"?

  • Kris Kristofferson as Han Solo??? LMAO this is trippy!

  • lol!

  • Redd Foxx, ROTFL!!!

  • How funny....think Donny is wearing a pair of Marie's boots? They're awfully girlie looking!! :)

  • Is that a kids' watercolor paint set on Paul Lynde's "uniform"????

  • XD!!! OMG hahahah -dies laughing-

  • It's no wonder this show was eventually canceled. GAG! Now if CBC in Canada would cancel Little Mosque On The Prairie so poor Michael Landon would stop spinning in his grave.

  • Mr Osmond is not wearing his Mormon Temple Garments. (Bare chested)

  • He probably didn't have them yet, as he was only 18 or 19.

  • As per the handbook for Mormon bishops, garments don't necessarily need to be worn for exercising or if one's career purposes. Hence, if a costume is necesary for your job, they don't need to be worn. Its only in everyday life and at night they are to be worn. And, they sure don't need to be worn when swimming by the way. Just fyi.

  • There were a LOT of star wars variety show bits. Carol Burnett had one. Saturday Night Live had one. (both with Carrie Fischer) Chicago's WLS radio had a commercial with Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker. I'm sure there were more. Variety shows weren't a good fit for the star war fans, but D&M were adequate. Looking at it now, its kinda sweet.

  • I remember watching this on its original broadcast and thinking, "How dare George Lucas cheapen and bastardize the Star Wars franchise by shilling the characters out for pifflie like this!"... which was pretty deep thinking for a 7 yr old.

  • !d love to SOCKET to Marie

  • Wow the 501st has some moves......

  • My sister made me watch this. She is very cruel to me.

  • this has more living actors than episode 2

  • I'm glad I never saw this. I still wish I hadn't. Not as bad as the infamous Star Wars Christmas Special that George Lucas would like to destroy every copy of. But it did introduce Boba Fett.

  • middleagemermaid, is there a third choice???

  • So what would you rather watch.....this or John and Kate +8 or whatever that show is?

  • This is why I don't miss the 70s. I do miss Paul Lynde and Redd Foxx, though.

  • I remember watching this as a kid...

  • That was great!!! I didn't see this as a kid. Made me smile. Really brought me back to my childhood.

  • Props to the props department for the watercolor paint kit as a medals badge on Lynde's jacket.

  • more like Pissed Pissedofferson

  • hehehe AWESOME!

  • That ROCKED!

Thank ya very much for posting this.

  • "oh, how horrid"

  • Still not as bad as the Star Wars Holiday spacial or the prequel trilogy.

  • I am both shocked and appalled.

  • Good grief.

  • Oh Kris Kristofferson... why? We would have given you the money, you didnt have to resort to this.

  • Wow- Thurl Ravenscroft - AKA Tony the Tiger - as Darth Vader! Kinda cool, in an alternate universe sort of way.

  • So very, very awful. And yet I can't look away.

  • Donny looks like he has a wookie shoved down his shirt! I'm half expecting Jar Jar to pop out at any moment during this clip...

  • oh no. no no no no no.

  • Holy crap!!!!!

  • My brain hurts.

  • I hate to admit it, but Marie is hot in this.

  • How have I never seen this!! Love it!

  • Simply AWESOME!

  • I want some of what they were snorting when they came up with this beautiful mess.

  • hmm. a brother and sister playing Luke and Leia...

  • I'm starting to suspect that the laugh track is getting high before coming in to work, because these days it will laugh at ANYTHING. And it's not like Redd Foxx isn't contagiously funny 90% of the time. But laughing at him in this is like laughing at him eating bacon or washing his car.

6:52 - when intimidated by authoritarian figures, Kristofferson's natural response is to bend over and grab his knees, owing to a long history of run-ins with southern law enforcement.

  • I know what him desperately trying to appear frightened - or at least mildly nervous.

  • only one word:

    Awesome :)

  • Kind of funny considering that Luke and Leia turned out to be brother and sister in the movie series. (Maybe this gave Lucas the idea.)

  • Hahaha, Paul Linde as Tarkin

  • O_o

There are no words. This is horrific. I can't look away!

  • it is mesmerizing!!!

  • So this is what it feels like to have my eyes raped.

  • oh geez i couldn't get past 4.17 so awefull, but still, aw damn it , *presses play*

  • I vow by the power of my force...that this is possibly worse than the holiday special

  • Will someone get that walking carpet out of Chewie's way?

  • Ah the 70's...

    Such a simpler time.

    Loved it!

    Stumbled it!

    Thank You for posting it!

  • Princess Leia our goose is cooked LOL

  • Aughhhh! MY EYES!

  • OMG! Too funny, and the fact that they mix up ships and parts.. too too scarey

  • I have seen it... I can't unsee it! I am surprised that I didn't see this when it first aired. I probably would have liked it back then :)

  • So beautiful... So disturbing...

  • Those are some heels Donny's got on, too. Those were the days...

  • Notice how much better this dumb sketch is than the official Star Wars holiday special! I guess Sid & Marty Krofft should have produced that one...

  • I felt a great disturbance in the Force, as if millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror, holding their ears in pain, and were suddenly silenced....

  • i like the first song they sing. its so catchy! lol. Donny's lookin pretty HOTT in that costume!

  • From Anna,
