voice wise, LaToya London has it all (vocals, range) except she really has no fighting spirit of winning or she really has boring personality or maybe she's just down to earth.

Fantasia was soulfully great but quite exaggerated sometimes. Jennifer was really voted out because she sings like Broadway although she has very big voice.

look at this totally robbed contestant ever in AI history. Season's 3 Lisa Leuschner. I believe she would have won that season.

Most competitive Idol since it was created with London being probably its best ever singer alongside Fantasia and Kelly Clarkson.

But as always happens with these shows (americas top model ect ect) the talent pool has dropped over the years.

Sorry, but Fantasia OWNED IT, in addition to singing well. It was just Fantasia's blessing and not LaToya's. But this is one of my favorites of early Idol when it was ALL about vocals. She was absolutely AMAZING.

soul is well, soulful and bluesy, moreso than motown

Soul encapsulates an entire genre of music, whereas motown is limited to records released by one particular label. Part of Motown's music can be classified as soul, but they are certainly not the end-all of soul.
