  • Great sound, remember to push your valves down with the tips of your fingers, not your whole finger. This makes it easier to connect your notes, as well as preserve the longevity of the valve casings. Great tune.

  • I always think it's ironically funny when the title of the song is an instrument different from what I see being played. So I got a kick out of a non-oboe playing this, obviously.

All irony aside, you did a magnificent job!

  • Lovely tune! Merry Christmas Everyone! /watch?v=CPiv33_QfkE

  • The euphonium is so under-appreciated,

But it's acctually such a beautiful instrument.

I wish it were a more known instrument.

    Euph Pride<3

  • Its in Db

  • hey what key is this in?

  • @zupmarc36 The key is concert Eb (3 flats)

  • I've been listening to this on repeat for the last 20 minutes. You did an incredible job!

  • What Euphonium do you play?

  • I actually did an arrangement of this for Trombone choir in the same key as the one you just played in. Our intros are even similar..lol....Love your tone though, really pretty.

  • I am fascinated your game greatly. Magic ...

  • Very beautiful playing. My only comment would be more vibrato, but you're way better than me so I prolly shouldn't say anything. Was that all euphonium? Some of it sounded low enough to be tuba.

  • @jonman1922 actually, the euphonium can reach very deep octaves, in my orchestra, i'm known to outreach the tuba on occasion

  • Hey, I was thinking about making a video of me making a video of your arrangement (transposed to a different key, due to the evils of braces) and I would just like to ask your permission first.

  • @tubaeuphboyemk4 That's fine. Best of luck.

  • Why is the solo part up a half step?....

  • Im an Euphonium player and I have to say this was a beautiful arrangement. Great musicianship, and keep up the great work. Im planning on hearing more music from you. Good job from the U.S!!!

  • Enjoyed it very much! I recommend getting the spit out between your valves first :).

  • fantastic, absolutely beautiful. You need to go to IEI go look it up on euphonium(dot)com

  • dude, great job! that was very nice. when I started watching it my jaw just dropped seriously. Great job and keep it up.

  • imm looking at the music as yoou play.. the solo is played different then the way its written?

  • You should go to IEI this year.

  • Really good. I started euphonium last week and i'm not that bad (tuba was my first instrument) i like this a lot keep getting better.

  • Absolutely brilliant! I'll be tuning in and listening for more of your "projects."

    Well done, my friend!

  • 0.0 amazing, depending on how old you are your the best euphonium player ive heard yet!

  • Whats up with youre valves? They sound like hell but you have a awesome tone MR!

  • O_O PRECIOSO .....

    sin palabras...

  • hey i wanted to make this a duet, so which part wud go best with the solo?

  • @iAREchrisC probably something like bass clarinet or basson

  • Outstanding..could I ask you for a copy of your arrangement for Euphonium. Thanks

    bevcomike@yahoo.com

  • Outstanding..could I ask you for a copy of your arrangement for Euphonium. Thanks

    bevcomike@yahoo.com

  • ok, 1, do u mind if i play your arrangement (just the solo part) For my Blue Devils Audition and a concert? and 2. for the B.C. Euph solo, u didn't transpose it. just letting u kno. thanks for the beautiful music. =)

  • thanks for the sheet music. your a really good player and lets hope you can play that arrangment sometime :)

  • Great job, I'm a euphonium player myself...the only thing I advise you to do is add vibrato to the actual solo melody.

  • Beautiful sound!

  • this is fantastic, i may use your arrangement on trumpet :D

  • what mic are you using? i want to do some multitracks with my trumpet.

  • @johnytwobyfour I use an SM57 mic

  • This is just marvelous. Wonderful tone! I love it!

  • I didn't like how you "ripped" up to the high Bb or C for treble. i wouldn't necessarily say ripped but i can't think of another way to describe it. Besides that amazing!

  • Hey I play the trumpet and i was wondering where you got the sheet music for that? Thanks!

  • Well played mate. The brass band arrangement is very beautiful, and so is this. You should ask your conductor if you can perform it. Which band do you play for?

  • @zoot69 Thanks, I play in Hobart Brass Band in Tasmania.

  • @jackshoey I was down there over Easter for nationals. It was freezing.

  • @zoot69 When are you going to start making videos again, Zoot?

  • nice

  • major coolness

  • I wish I played an instrument that was capable of covering every low brass part and solo at the same time....french horn comes close I guess....but it's not capable of sounding like this. This was really good dude.

  • Beautiful. Very well played. I like the low note at the end. :D

  • WOWOWOWOWOW! AMAZING!

  • Man, you need to publish this arrangement! I've been looking for something like this. Keep up the good work!

  • You can hear a noticable difference with your new euph. Only thing I didnt like was the last trill... just seemed a little messy. Good work!

  • VERY NICE

  • Love it! That sounds just perfect. Your range is fantastic.

  • "Born Free"by John Barry would sound beautiful with the melody and the chords being played like this.

  • love it :)

  • This is actually stunning mate. I used to play this in my old brass band. Sent shivers through me, good work. Lovely warm sound, you should do some more.

  • yo really nice but could u fix the thing soon cause i wana use it for an ensemble at my school =]

  • Dude, this is awesome. I plan on using your arrangement for a music forum I have coming up. But just to let you know, the solo B.C. part you wrote is in a different key and a whole step above what you played here. You might wanna look into that. Regardless tho, I absolutely love this. Awesome job.

    -G

  • Thanks very much. I'm glad you liked the arrangement. Excuse my ignorance but what is a music forum? btw thanks for pointing out the flaw in my transposing I will fix it when I get round to it.

  • I guess you could call a forum a performance assessment as well. I have one every so often at my college.

  • @GuillermoMontecelo Where can i find the sheet music for it? I want to try out to paly the solo for euphonium in my band

  • @Bassrocka09

    Its in the video description

  • THIS IS AMAZING.

You are very talented. How long have you been playing? I play euphonium as well...have been for about 4 years now.

And what recording software to you use?

  • @tromboneteen13 Thanks very much, I have been playing for about 5 years now. I use a recording program called Cubase SX3

  • Wow! That's amazing :)

Any tips for someone who would like to become as good as you!?

    :)

  • @jackshoey. oh, and i play on a besson sovereign. what are ya playing on there? it looks so nice!

  • G'day,

I would say the best general advice on how to improve your playing is to get a teacher. They will be able to help you to become a better euph player. I play a Yamaha YEP642s.

  • Oh my goodness.

    This is beautiful!

  • please post a sheet music in tc

  • Which program you used to do this?

    Thank

  • I used Sony Vegas to make this video.

  • I guess 2010 is the year for all us youtube euphonium multitrackers to buy better recording equipment and start making markedly better videos. Rock on jackshoey. Rock on.

  • and time for us that haven't and want to to finally just do it

  • @nhjansen sounded good 2 me :0

  • Wow, great sound man. I look forward to hearing your recordings get more and more crisp! Great playing—of course, I don't know much about playing a euphonium—it sounded beautiful

  • Magnifique ! so nice !

    Thank's

  • shit jack your god to me

  • Wow man!

GREAT job, the video looks great and the audio is MUCH better! I'm looking forward to what you come up with next! 5*'s

Let me know if you ever need a trumpet player!

  • @TheBig5Brass Thanks, very much. I don't know if you read the description, but I bought a Shure SM57 Mic like your one and downloaded Sony Vegas as you suggested. That is the reason for the improved audio/video quality. I would really like to do a collaborative multi track some day with a trumpet I think that would be awesome.

    Cheers,

    Jack

  • Awesome! Let me know, we will do a bunch!

  • @TheBig5Brass What tune/s do you want to play? I can arrange one.

  • I PM'ed you

  • @jackshoey this is great man what recording software do u use?

  • Thanks, I use Cubase SX3

  • @jackshoey oh what type of mic do you use?

  • Great playing Jack.......... Cobi just sent me here as she is into hard to play instruments too :*)

    great job !!

    Regards

    Leo

  • @leobluesy Thanks mate.

  • Wonderful playing Jack, I really enjoyed it! This night I played my euphonium too... I am back at it and I think I am finally getting somewhere! You are still my inspiration... I am proud to have you as my friend... really... take care!

    Cobi

  • @incognitoXL Thanks Cobi! I'm glad you enjoyed it. Happy to hear you are still practicing your euphonium, I'm sure you have improved heaps. always good to hear from my friend in the netherlands. regards,

    Jack
