  • It's a human powered vehicle no motor its just designed to go fast so don't let it fool you just because its covered up

  • hmm, all covered up. Very convenient

  • Is he pedalling in there?

  • haha it's seems not like a bicycle at all :D

  • I think the speed limit on some freeways should be 80~90mph

  • World landspeed recordholder Fred Rompelberg (268 km/h on a bicycle!)

  • I think he is too big. Sam is pretty small and at these speed frontal area means a lot. However, I would love to see Cancellara give it a try!!!

  • Put Fabian Cancellara in it and see if you can hit 90-100

  • What is that scream at the end, like somebody dropped a spider into a girl's panties?

  • dang that is impressive!!!!!!

  • where can you buy something like this

  • its like a car

  • Do you want to see THE WORLD'S SIMPLEST TRANSMISSION for Bicycle?

Watch : UNIQUE BIKE CRANK ( 2- SPEED)

  • @died4hislove FAIL. It weighs more than I do.

  • On a conventional bike most of the resistance comes from lack of aerodynamics.A streamlined bike will allow it to cut through the atmosphere much easier saving energy and at an increased velocity.

  • damn. that must take some serious leg power. wat did this guy do? inject the steroids into his legs? lol jk but how can u get that much leg power?

  • @ryu1036 Veeeeeery large cranks

  • can i buy one?

  • this guy still has decent transport after the oil runs out

  • HE DID IT! AHHHH!!

  • 82 mph ?

i think many scooters can do that xD

  • they're called "HPV"s (HUMAN powered vehicles)

  • later in the week he improved the record to 82.819

  • The designer of the bike emigrated from Bulgaria 40 years ago. It makes me sad that all great minds of my country had to emigrate so that they could realize their dreams.

  • @Milen4u Well it's a good thing there is a place they can emigrate to to realize their dream (I mean this with total respect)

  • And he bettered the record by 0.1 mph this year (17 Sept 2009), folks. It is 82.4 mph now.

    Bravo indeed!

  • Way to go, Sam! You should be a recipient of the Order of Canada for all your accomplishments! You lead the way for 'green' machines!

  • Where can you buy one at?

  • very , nice video .... i love it ....

  • got some weird looking vehicles these days

  • SAM IS THE MAN!!

  • nice vid but i cant shake the feeling that these bikes should be used in the la tour de france race

  • They wouldn't be able to turn round the corners lol.

  • The suits at the tour don't have the gonads to allow such machines. The French invented the recumbent. The French banned it from officially sanctioned racing. The French giveth and taketh away...

  • thats crazy. super fast for a bicycle

  • BATTLE MOUNYAIN!!! WOOOO!!!!!!

  • Uhhh Bicycle?

  • stream lined bicycle it uses arodynamics

  • Respect

  • How do you stop...do you cash. I want to know, lol.

  • you slow down... then their team comes up and grabs his bike then pulls him out. watch other videos

  • Google "World Human Powered Speed Challenge" to find out more about this great event.

  • I was there all week at this competition, and believe me, it is a bicycle! No drafting a car, wind has to be blowing less than 3.7 mph (1.66 m/s), and the course is about as flat as you get for five miles to set a record.

  • Craigkc, you're an idiot for posting a comment like this.

  • Realy?...???

  • HAHAHAH I spilled my coffee at this comment

  • i thought the world speed record on a bicicle was 140mph...

  • That's behind a car.

  • That's behind a car.

  • Those speeds are only achieved by drafting behind a motorized vehicle. Sam's record is done on flat ground, all by himself.

  • awesome aerodynamics.

  • Congratulations on your amazing achievement Sam and George !

  • Yes..... But will it blend?

  • I like how there aren't any other links or explanations proving that it's only human powered. How dare we speculate that something might be up if hear about a BIKE going over 80 mph.

  • Um. It would be pretty unspectacular if it were a motorized bicycle. SO yes, likely human powered =[

  • Who cares! Let's attach a Flux Capacitor to this thing!

  • When it hits 88 mph, you're gonna see some serious shit.

  • Back to the future perhaps?

  • Holy moly that was blazing fast! Well done!

  • is that a ufo

  • yes it is, idiot

oh wait you listen to kelly clarkson...

  • haha - Fire Up!

  • Wow your classy. Way to educate. Call the person names. Seek help.

  • You are a fucking idiot. It has a shell around it for aerodynamics.

  • It is in a shell.

  • that was a bike?

  • 82mph HUMAN powered??? no engine???????

  • yes human powered its all in the gearing, the legs, the stamina, and the person, and ofcourse aero dynamics and balance, as well as diet and weight...

    simple really :P

    lol

  • Great run, Congratulations SAM!

  • Brilliant, well done Sam.

  • WOW! Congratulations to Sam and George. You're not getting older, you're getting better! Wish I was there to see you this time, but at least now we've got YouTube. Enjoy the Basque steak dinner!

    Ross in Victoria

  • Absolutely FANTASTIC Sam. We are all so proud of you.

Aunt Suilven & co in London xxxxx

  • AWESOME JOB!!

  • Congratulations with the new record! I'm halfway the 132,50...

  • Marvellous...

  • Incredible. 82.33 mph.

    Worlds fastest human.

    Sam, Congratulations!

Congratulations to Georgi Georgiev,(Varna Cycles) Designer, Sculpture, builder of machines for human movement for the most elite and the disabled.
