@reyjay07 On recent form we barely beat Samoa in November, barely beat Italy, lost to Wales and played poorly throughout the whole tournament.
However ive watched enough rugby in my time to know that the team were clearly trying to fix a new gameplan and it just wasnt clicking up until the England game. I dont believe it was a one off, just that the England factor helped the team click, and they should progress from that.
I watch S15 rugby too, and trust me, do not underestimate Australia.

@reyjay07 Yep but Samoa have a seriously underestimated team. Not sure what happened there though, looked like a mix of underestimating Samoa and seriously poor communication. It was after all there first game in a while, us irish are seriously rusty in our first games - we barely beat italy thanks to ROG's drop goal a few months back!
I dont like our warm up games, theyre necessary but if we lose them, knowing Ireland, it will shake our psychology and i fear another 2007.

The try won an award for IRB international try of the year. Maybe O'Driscoll's contribution in particular wasn't magic, but the whole move was pretty slick. And as the man says, you've got to identify it somehow and the scorer is the natural name to put on it.
Wouldn't make much sense to call it the "Tommy Bowe made the most individual yards in this move try".
Don't get me wrong, its a great move and a great try and O'Driscoll is really good.

Lets be perfectly honest with eachother here. Southern hemisphere rugby is streaks ahead of Northern hemisphere rugby and has been for a long time. The Super 14 is by far the most competitive club tournament in world rugby. 5 out 6 world cups have been won by Southern hemisphere teams. And finally, the Springboks, All Blacks and Wallabies all have winning records against every northern hemisphere team.
As far as I'm concerned, it is comprehensively one-sided. It shouldnt even be up for debate.
Ever heard of football, it's the northern hemisphere 1st sport. Whereas southern hemisphere countries can find it easy to make the youth play rugby, it is different in Northern Hemisphere. So yes you are streaks ahead, due to your high population and the fact that rugby is the no1 sport in all countries. However rugby is growing in our lightly populated countries and so very soon we will be at equal levels. But until then enjoy the silverware you have and don't be worried by our increasing skill
OH and by the way I'm Irish not english. In Ireland there are 5 million. 2.5 million of them are males. Our main sport is football so 500,000 i would say play that. Our second sport is GAA and i would say 500,000 play that. Also rugby is not popular really in the countryside so that takes away about 1 million. So really we only have a choice of 500,000! Yet we still have the best ever rugby player of all time and the best no.8 today.

Yes whereas England has 60 million people they also play soccer,cricket,and tennis very competitively so that means that at least 20 million of that 60 play soccer, about 5 million play cricket, about 5 million play tennis and about 20 million don't play sport at all. Which leaves about 10 million to do other sports such as rugby, which as u would have to guess only 3-4 million people play. Whereas New Zealand however feeds their youth rugby and tells them how important it is. So there you go!

In my opinion BOD is the best player in the world. Yes he is not as physical as Mortlock, or as fast as most other centres in SH but he has an unarguable ability to read the game better than anyone else in the sport. As for Keith Wood i also believe he was the best NO.8 at his time but not the best overall player. I believe that at the moment NZ have the best no.10,no.2 and obviously no.7. Possibly the best second-row but that would be my opinion.I don't think BOD gets enough respect.

@reyjay07 On recent form we barely beat Samoa in November, barely beat Italy, lost to Wales and played poorly throughout the whole tournament.
However ive watched enough rugby in my time to know that the team were clearly trying to fix a new gameplan and it just wasnt clicking up until the England game. I dont believe it was a one off, just that the England factor helped the team click, and they should progress from that.
I watch S15 rugby too, and trust me, do not underestimate Australia.

@reyjay07 Yep but Samoa have a seriously underestimated team. Not sure what happened there though, looked like a mix of underestimating Samoa and seriously poor communication. It was after all there first game in a while, us irish are seriously rusty in our first games - we barely beat italy thanks to ROG's drop goal a few months back!
I dont like our warm up games, theyre necessary but if we lose them, knowing Ireland, it will shake our psychology and i fear another 2007.

The try won an award for IRB international try of the year. Maybe O'Driscoll's contribution in particular wasn't magic, but the whole move was pretty slick. And as the man says, you've got to identify it somehow and the scorer is the natural name to put on it.
Wouldn't make much sense to call it the "Tommy Bowe made the most individual yards in this move try".

Check out all of this guys videos...they are all of tries and they are all called by the name of the player who scored the try and the team it was against...i.e. D'Arcy v Munster, Fitzgerald v Munster or O'Driscoll v Munster..........don't get so worked up. Lets be perfectly honest with eachother here. Southern hemisphere rugby is streaks ahead of Northern hemisphere rugby and has been for a long time. The Super 14 is by far the most competitive club tournament in world rugby. 5 out 6 world cups have been won by Southern hemisphere teams. And finally, the Springboks, All Blacks and Wallabies all have winning records against every northern hemisphere team.
As far as I'm concerned, it is comprehensively one-sided. It shouldnt even be up for debate.

Ever heard of football, it's the northern hemisphere 1st sport. Whereas southern hemisphere countries can find it easy to make the youth play rugby, it is different in Northern Hemisphere. So yes you are streaks ahead, due to your high population and the fact that rugby is the no1 sport in all countries. However rugby is growing in our lightly populated countries and so very soon we will be at equal levels. But until then enjoy the silverware you have and don't be worried by our increasing skill

OH and by the way I'm Irish not english. In Ireland there are 5 million. 2.5 million of them are males. Our main sport is football so 500,000 i would say play that. Our second sport is GAA and i would say 500,000 play that. Also rugby is not popular really in the countryside so that takes away about 1 million. So really we only have a choice of 500,000! Yet we still have the best ever rugby player of all time and the best no.8 today.

Yes whereas England has 60 million people they also play soccer,cricket,and tennis very competitively so that means that at least 20 million of that 60 play soccer, about 5 million play cricket, about 5 million play tennis and about 20 million don't play sport at all. Which leaves about 10 million to do other sports such as rugby, which as u would have to guess only 3-4 million people play. Whereas New Zealand however feeds their youth rugby and tells them how important it is. So there you go!

In my opinion BOD is the best player in the world. Yes he is not as physical as Mortlock, or as fast as most other centres in SH but he has an unarguable ability to read the game better than anyone else in the sport. As for Keith Wood i also believe he was the best NO.8 at his time but not the best overall player. I believe that at the moment NZ have the best no.10,no.2 and obviously no.7. Possibly the best second-row but that would be my opinion.I don't think BOD gets enough respect.

THIS year (2009) Shane Williams hasn't been good at all, but he was incredible in 2008.
Top try scorer in the 6 nations and got a couple of beauties away in South Africa, putting even Bryan habana in his arse (search Williams vs South Africa on youtube).
McCaw was good in 2008, but not at his brilliant best.

First of all I couldnt care what rank Ireland are.... everyones more worried about soccer and golf up here tbh. No profound interest in rugby, but the team seems to be doin all right with its single world class player...... Once they keep beating the welsh in there own back garden, i have no complaints.
And NZ has 4 million, does that include the 3 or 4 nearby islands? They seem to get a lot of players from them, not quite sure why... but who cares.

4th played sport...go to the IRB website...it shows IRELAND has 110thousand rugby players...NZ has 120thousand...eng has over 600k and france 250k...so we have the same amount of people playing rugby...even if it is your 4th sport...I would not be so stupid to argue vs soccer or golf...as NZ is CLEARLY inferior...just as u shouldnt argue with me about NZ rugby...as we are CLEARLY superior
