I'm meeting my best friend at Heathrow's arrival hall this Friday. She lives in Texas and I live in London and we haven't seen each other for over 16 months. Can't wait!!!
I'm using this for my Sociology and anthropology class since this is soooo perfect for the concept of kinship and families. I just love the use of music and juxtaposition of the footage.
I can't believe how perfect this is. In reality is there anything in life, that is more important than love? Be it indeed friendship, family, or between lovers, love is the one thing, that makes worthwhile.
It's an absolute mood changer as well, and just like the narrator feels better when he looks at the people at Heathrow, I feel better when I see this video. Thanks for uploading, and thanks to the people, who made this movie !
These are bits and pieces of scenes, not all at once and it depends where you look...where your focus is...and what your current perspective is. Remember he says ...'if you look for it'.
The song is probably something from Craig Armstrong, since he was the composer for the film. Three of the songs are on the soundtrack Glasgow Theme, Portuguese Theme, PM's Theme. They are all similar to this interlude. Sorry for typos.
I wish that everyone could understand what true love really is. For love cannot be explained...it can only be felt. And if you have truly experienced it...you would know that there really is nothing else that matters...

Richard Curtis stole this idea from Kevin Smith's movie Dogma. One of the characters says he likes to hang around the train station because people hug and kiss when they greet each other. So not only is the guy a bigot and a hater, he's a plaigerist too.

Blow it out your hole you hatemonger. I was commenting on the opinion expressed in this clip. Sorry if the reality of the victims of the WTC attacks intruded on you candy cane fantasy that 9-11 was some kind of love fest. I will denounce anyone who supports bigotry and hate whether that is you, lightuplondon or Richard Curtis. Now kindly fuck off!
You really need to get a life. Nobody cares what you like or dislike, and thinking people would is only embarassing yourself. You're an annoyance to say the very least. You use the internet as a means to vent your daily frustration out on people who don't really care, in a place that isn't appropriate.
Whoever said I had a candy cane fantasy about 9-11? I didn't. Whoever said I supported bigotry? I didn't. I think you're losing the plot mate. Wake up and smell the roses.
Since both of you defend this shit. Let me tell you both something. My Mother was 10 years old and lived through the bombing of Britain. No lets see the two of you be so smug now. Was that proof of love? Some people committed acts of kindness and sacrifice during the holocaust was that proof of love? No one was screaming hate, because they were calling for help, you brainless idiots. Would you scream hate at an operator if you were trapped in a burning building?
Obviously someone does - you stupid wanker. Your life is so complete you had to come on here and post a comment in defense of this hate monger richard curtis. I'm suprised you found the time. MickBelcker - I see you accuse people of things that you're guilty of (which isn't uncommon).
I, myself, would say that I am polite and go about my life in a respectful and gentlemanly manner. You, however, is the only person here guilty of what you seem to accuse others of.
What's weird is; you start coming out with instances that have no relevance in any of the previous conversations. Mentioning statements about parents living through bombings and other such nonsense. They are irrelevant.
"I, myself, would say that I am polite and go about my life in a respectful and gentlemanly manner."
Don't hurt your arm patting yourself on the back. There is nothing gentlemanly about disregarding the pain and suffering of others. BETTY ONG: Okay, Im in my jump seat right now. FEMALE VOICE: Okay. BETTY ONG: At 3R. FEMALE VOICE: Okay. MALE VOICE: Okay, youre the flight attendant? Im sorry, did you say youre the flight attendant? BETTY ONG: Hello? FEMALE VOICE: Yes, hello. MALE VOICE: What is your name?
BETTY ONG: Number 3 in the back. The cockpits not answering. Somebodys stabbed in business class and . . . I think theres mace . . . that we cant breathe. I dont know, I think were getting hijacked

BETTY ONG: Flight 12.
OPERATOR: And what seat are you in? . . . Maam, are you there? . . .
BETTY ONG: Yes.
MALE VOICE: What seat are you in?
FEMALE VOICE: Maam, what seat are you in?

Flight 93 - 13 people placed calls to family members. Most were to warn the authorities. Or to find out information. A few people said farewell to their family. Afterwards they fought their to the cockpit, in a courageous act of desperation and vengance. They battered and stabbed the terrorists with anything they could get their hands on.
So I don't know where Richard Curtis is getting his information from. These supposed hearts and rainbow phone calls
Flight 77 Flight attendant Renee May reported the details of the hijacking to her Mother and asked her to call the authorities. Barbara Olson placed two calls to her husband Ted Olson, relaying the events of the hijacking.
The calls from the WTC buildings were all calls to Emergency 911, pleading for help, and reporting the details of the attack.
Flight 11 - Only flight attendants Betty Ong and Madeline Sweeny made calls, to alert the authorities, that the hijackers had wounded passengers and taken possession of the plane. They also reported the seat numbers of the hijackers.
Flight 175 - Burton Hanson called his Father to report details of the hijacking so he could relay them to the authorities. Brian Sweeney made several attempts to call his wife, but was cut off.
erm. excuse me. euroscums ? how the fuck were we ment to know that there was gona be a plan crash?? Euro-pricks? pftt. god everyone knows u would be upset but u aint gotta blame the fucking film people!
This opening sequence never fails to make me tear up. I think that using 9/11 as an example is an excellent way to get the message of love across to people. Everyone can relate to that, and how when it happened the first thing we thought about were those we love.

You're a jackass MATC45- 9-11 was not proof that love was all around us. Let me set a building on fire and cook your friends and loved ones to death and see if you think that is an act of love.

FUCK YOU! You were off in La LA Land California. when the planes hit. Just like these Euroscum were safe at home. I was there on the ground while my co-workers and people I saw everyday were splattering on the ground. I wasn't thinking about love. YOU FUCKING PIECE OF SHIT. FUCK YOU. IT'S BAD ENOUGH THESE EURO-PRICKS MAKE LIGHT OF THE VICTIMS OF 9-11, BUT AN AMERICAN DOES IT. I HOPE ONE OF YOUR FAMILY DIES IN THE NEXT ATTACK AND THEN WE'LL SEE IF YOU THINK "LOVE IS ALL AROUND US"
1. No one is going to take you seriously if all you do is swear at people. That's the #1 fastest way to lose face in a debate.
2. Yes, I was in California when it happened. But I have friends who have family in New York that died. One of my closest friends lost her sister in the attacks. Another lost her dad. And yet another friend lost her cousin.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
I'm not here to win a debate you fucking La-La Land dimwit. And don't give me this crap about losing anyone in the attacks, because you clearly didn't. Nor have you ever seen a body impact the ground and have guts and intestines splattered all over the sidewalk. You wouldn't think 9-11 was a love fest if you did. Listen to the phone calls made from the people in the building sometime you stupid whore.
I love these people - oh yeah I lost my father's friends uncle's cousins sisters bestfriends great grandmother in the attack. Boo-hoo I'm so upset. I doubt you hollywood airheads even realised it wasn't a new reality tv show. So yeah, I wouldn't expect you to take offense at some movie maker using a tragedy in some sugary flippant way. 9-11 wasn't proof of love. It was proof of how far hate and ignorance can go. It wasn't flowery and sweet. It was painful and ugly
Have you listened to the phone calls from the people who were burning inside the building? Did you see any of the people splattered all over the sidewalk? People charred bodies still strapped in their airplane seats. And this anti-american bigot film maker wants to turn that into hearts and rainbows. DON'T TELL ME TO CALM DOWN UNLESS YOU WERE THERE AND SAW THE CARNAGE YOURSELF. THE UGLY FACE OF TERRORISM. SAY THAT TO ME WHEN YOUR LOVED ONES OR FRIENDS ARE KILLED IN FRONT OF YOUR EYES!!!
Well, I'm sure the people who were on the phone weren't screaming complete hate into the receiver.
It's one line in a film. There's nothing else about 9/11 in the movie. The point of the movie is that, as it says, love actually is all around, and it's true.
It's a bit of an optimistic view, I think, and I like it.
There was a 40 year old asian woman hit the ground and her body broke apart and her bloody tampon come shooting out from between her legs. Another body landed on a Fireman who was on his way in the building, he was killed on impact That was not LOVE it was HATE, and I am not going to let you or anyone else sugar coat it and turn it into some stupid soap opera
You brainless skank. I was not talking about the couple of firecrackers that went off in London. Idiot. How can you compare 30 dead to 3000 dead. Probably 30 snotnossed punks like you. Who cares. I was talking about the London Blitz in 1940. You braindead bitch. Ever heard of that???
Miss "I was in London watching it on my tellie."
Why don't you and the other Nit Brits fuck off. Try having some respect for the dead.
Here's a thought. How about you post your family's address here, and I'll drive a truck full of dynamite into it and detonate it. Then we will record you calling your granny or one of your friends, telling them your whole family is dead. Then richard curtis will have a nice melodramatic moment for his next film. And we can all have a nice sniffle and join hands and sing kumbaya. Won't that be nice!!!
And FYI, I was in London too in 2005. I was so upset. I cried a single tear and put it in a box . I take it out and look at it on the anniversary every year. It was such a beautiful moment. I wish it could happen again so I can feel connected to all the victims of the world. All those dead people and the passengers in the underground coughing and trying to get out. They made lovely phone calls to their loved ones that day too? You should make a film about it so we can all cry together
People die and you just think we should turn our heads and get over it. Yeah that's fucking easy to say when you are safe in bed under your covers and it is total strangers. Try being a fucking human being for a change you walking abortion.
Yeah, I would lie about that, to win an internet fight with an empty headed skank and her 10 internet personas. Lay off the crack and maybe you will know the difference between your soap operas and reality.
"Dying is dying. Eventually, it won't matter how it's done. "
So how about I light your entire family on fire. After all it doesn't matter right? You're going to die any way? Keep talking your crap. It just proves you have total disregard for human life. And no concept of reality.
Who, in your dillusional mind, is doing the allowing? You think it was a privledge to be witness to those events? You wouldn't speak of it in a flippant manner if you had ever witnessed a tragedy. Being in a country, blocks away is not sitting on the bus seeing a body get ripped apart. I was in America when Katrina happened. But I'm not going to lecture someone who was in the middle of that chaos, how they should think and feel about it?
Man you must have no life if you have to sit by your computer waiting for me to post. I am not even addressing you anymore so kindly shut your rude fucking mouth.
So now you are insulting old people now. How ironic that someone who likes a movie called Love Actually, celebrates the murder of 3,000 people - calling it proof of love. And spends their days and nights fighting with people, spreading hate on the internet.
So simpel and so true. And btw - pointing out the fact that the last messages of those people on the plane were not messages of hate or revenge, but of love, is not dismissing their deaths. Quite on the contrary.

"The bit when he talks about the 9/11 phonecalls is a blatant, incredibly sick manipulation of peoples feelings."
You are right, it was a minipulation. Curtis doesn't give a damn about dead Americans. He always portrays them negatively in all his films He is a f*cking bigot. One minute he is using 9-11 tragedy, next minute he calls Americans 'bullies" and justifies the attack. Anyone who likes this film is a hate monger too.

How dare that hate monger Richard Curtis mention the 9-11 attack. The flippant manner in which he dismisses the deaths of 3,000 people is disgusting. I hope that f*cking anti-american bigot dies of the most pain full f*cking cancer on the planet. I hope his body shrivels in pain that son of a bitch. All the hate he pours out in his films comes back to him thrice fold. F(*cking limmey assh*le.
Angela, As you know I'm from New England. Nashua New Hampshire. 40 miles north of Boston, where Flight 11 was from. I worked with a kid in September 2001 who was dating the nice of the pilot of that plane. Such a small world.
This intro is amazing. It makes me think of all my best friends who i haven't talked to in the longest of times. It makes me miss London. It makes me miss certain people. Certain places. But I love all of those things. And that's the point.
This scene makes me tear up the fastest out of all movies. Really, it takes a record-breaking 2 seconds to get me emotional. No other movie has been able to top that. Good movie!
i dont really consider it a chic flick, its hilarious, and has some good meaning i think. This movie is a definate watch, me and my friend watch it everytime around christmas lol
Until this movie arrived, my favorite was UNTAMED HEART. I wanna believe, somedays convinced, that it was a gift to the U.S., a way of England saying..."We're with you." I wanna thank you for posting this. Not the manliest of men, but for a few moments in the movie, I gulped...I mean...WOW. Great stuff.

If Ricahrd Curtis wants to use a tragedy for a cheap melodramatic moment, then let him use the bombing of London.

I HOPE ONE OF YOUR FAMILY DIES IN THE NEXT ATTACK AND THEN WE'LL SEE IF YOU THINK "LOVE IS ALL AROUND US"
MickBelcker 2 years ago

MickBelcker 2 years ago

MickBelcker 2 years ago

MickBelcker 2 years ago
Here's a thought. How about you post your family's address here, and I'll drive a truck full of dynamite into it and detonate it. Then we will record you calling your granny or one of your friends, telling them your whole family is dead. Then richard curtis will have a nice melodramatic moment for his next film. And we can all have a nice sniffle and join hands and sing kumbaya. Won't that be nice!!!
MickBelcker 2 years ago
And FYI, I was in London too in 2005. I was so upset. I cried a single tear and put it in a box . I take it out and look at it on the anniversary every year. It was such a beautiful moment. I wish it could happen again so I can feel connected to all the victims of the world. All those dead people and the passengers in the underground coughing and trying to get out. They made lovely phone calls to their loved ones that day too? You should make a film about it so we can all cry together

So how about I light your entire family on fire. After all it doesn't matter right? You're going to die any way? Keep talking your crap. It just proves you have total disregard for human life. And no concept of reality.

You were allowed to be in New York on 9/11
Who, in your dillusional mind, is doing the allowing? You think it was a privledge to be witness to those events? You wouldn't speak of it in a flippant manner if you had ever witnessed a tragedy. Being in a country, blocks away is not sitting on the bus seeing a body get ripped apart. I was in America when Katrina happened. But I'm not going to lecture someone who was in the middle of that chaos, how they should think and feel about it?

Thanks.
