The basketball uses practice rims, and they can be won, it just has to be a perfect shot (a swish). The object of the shoot out the star is to shoot AROUND the star. Shooting the star itself out is impossible. To make the bushel basket, u have to bank the ball. The balloons are possible, that was proven, they're just difficult.
Haha and also one year a family friend thats really good at baseball and softball did the bottle game where you gotta break the bottle and the carnie was pissed because he won every time so he wouldnt let him play
At my fair this year they let you shoot these aliens down and if you shoot one down that has a certain number you win and if you look closely on the bottom they are weighted down with sand so you cant really shoot them unless your lucky or there in a certain spot
10 balls impossible? i was just at a carnival a few days ago and got 9/13 shots. it was the same ball game u paid $10 and got 13 shots and had to make 10 of them (so u get 3 chances to mess up) to win an xbox. and all the times i tried it there was no ball in the bucket already and i got it in, its not a scam (well maybe that one is) its just REALLY difficult, and takes training and technique to master.
@Janincal maybe the prizes dont cost much but what about gas to get to the spot then we have to pay rent to set up on the lot then we have to buy stock for the joints plus we have to pay our help its a buissness people

@Janincal You can get most of the toys offered at carnival games from companies like Oriental Trading Company and they are super cheap. Stuffed plush toy animals are about $5 to $10 per dozen. But those are the medium to large prizes. The little tiny plastic toys can be bought by the gross for just a few cents each, maybe $3 to $5 per gross (144 peices).
@DonReedProductions you play the games to win the price is a bonus if you want to buy stuff aminals and other toys go to toy store or order it dont complain on how much it cost for them to buy it ... its a biz like anyother and moceing all that equp. isnt cheap .. thinking like this shows me your not the buisness smart type person
Most city Police know that the games are fixed, but the city makes a share of the money and they only need to visit a booth when a customer makes a formal complaint. The carnival will act surprised and shut them down until all is clear and then they open right up again.

Sad, even dart balloons and little kid duck ponds are fixed in the favor of the owner. I am a former (now retired) magician of 30 years with lots of experience in cons and fakes. The people that appear to win the big giant prizes walking around are paid to do that. When done they put the prizes back to offer again. Occasional wins will bring in the shills.
I dont know about carnival games, but when I went to a theme park I played quite a few games and won a lot =)

You know there is one carnival game that I played that is not crooked. It's the game where you throw the darts at posters pinned to the wall and then you win that poster you hit with the dart. The man running the game was so nice when my dart landed on a poster of something I did not care for he was nice enough to give me a different one

However, they are on little ratty shows that play little shopping centers ect. and most of the old flatties are either dead or on their way out. My dad died this year. Big shows of course don't allow them. Soon the balloons will be gone too. Most big shows already don't allow you to work anymore. sad but true.
@sr300zx yep when i was a kid out on the road there was a flat store on every midway maybe even 2 or 3 i grew up making money by running arrends for the flatys but now theres to meany polatics in the biz i miss the good ole days
