  • Tucker Torpedo just sold for 2.7 million dollars. Amazing the car that never got off the ground is worth more then most Ferrari's

  • wow just one of twelve built

  • @67ShelbyMustang500 Correction, out of 51 built (excluding an uncompleted individual)

  • @Skampo1119 thats not what I read in a book but alright

  • the helicopter sound is because tucker used 6 cylinder opposing shaft helicopter engines for his car, they were surplus engines. he modified them from air cooled to water cooled and from carbureted to fuel injected. the tucker car could not back up under its own power as he used 2 torque converters to drive the car rather than a transmission like other cars used.

  • I have a video of Tucker #19 on my channel if you care to see it.

  • sounds like a cummins diesel !!!!

  • My grandpap says "piece of junk"

  • Sounds like a Corvair on 'roids.

  • Preston Tucker bought Air Cooled Motors Corp. for their Franklin air-cooled flat 6 aero engine, which was then modified in-house by Tucker by converting it to liquid-cooling. It was really meant as a stop-gap measure until Tucker could further develope his own 590 cubic inch flat 6 with fuel injection and hydraulically-operated valves. (NO camshaft!)

  • music to my ears

  • It sounds like a helicopter because Tucker bought a company that made helicopter engine so he could use them in his car.

  • 6 exhaust pipes....

Because of the rarity of these antiques, (& rarity of the engines), no one ever should, but I can't help but wonder what revving the engine of this would sound like.

  • @majorporpoise why not rev up?!engine is not made of paper...

  • @GIwillo If the engine was revved, and something happened to it, the car would never be a true Tucker again.

  • it sounds like an airplane, maybe it can fly too and we just have to figure out how to make it

  • so many things this car had were so ahead of their time

  • Similar to the sound of a Corvair; Art Chevrolet was a fan of the Tucker.

  • Of course it sounds like a helicopter, its a helicopter engine!

  • a great looking car but it sounds like a hotted up VW

  • @critchley3819 A hotted-up VW? Nah, I don't think so. That's called a Porsche, and this doesn't sound like one of those. :-P

  • Sounds like my ol man's MF 35 tractor...

  • wow, what a great car.....if I ONLY had the money.

  • bring plenty .

  • As the rebuilder of #1003, Classic Muscle and it's staff had the honor to restore this pride of America. youtube search; Preston Tucker there is footage of this #1003, engine rebuild, vehicle in primer and video before and after paint.

Classic Muscle for 2010 continues Tuckers dream. New Classic Muscle Cars; electric and gas powered. Actual blue prints for more designs and concept cars. All this will continue.

  • It does sounds like an helicopter!!! lolll

  • This Tucker Sedan sold for $1,017,500 in Aug 2008

  • Did the motor have six separate exhaust headers and mufflers etc..? unusual sound ... but I like it ...

  • This is the most exciting video on youtube.

  • I LIKE THIS!!! , congratulations from Brazil!

  • Good video, I like to see it zoom out at the end, or put a microphone with extention cord, on the tailpipe. Walk away from the car - So I can see the car and hear it too.

  • I remember this car ,in Depot town Ypsilanti...

    In the early 80s.....Very nice

  • for comparing please go to

    the video

    Tatra 603 Motorsound

    here on youtube.

  • hahahahaha.... absolutely different sound.

  • Very near to CZECH Tatra Streamline V8 cars of that time...both CZECH Tatra and Tucker were MILES ahead of their time

  • @Klottelitsch I saw a Tatra years ago in Europe. Very interesting car.

  • Cool to hear one of these, reminds me of my old VW!

  • I just watched the movie. Damn good stuff really. Effin big 3, at least now it's only a big 2.25.

  • those are definatly by far the coolest cars ever, even by todays standards. I mean what other car can you roll at a 110 miles an hour and still drive it and open the doors!! :DD

  • It really sounds like an helicopter!

  • Franklin helicopter engine

  • Now, there's an infamous American car!
