@EmpireOneMedia wasn't focusing on color. Mostly trying out the frame rate. When it was originally in color though it didn't look great honestly due to the fact we shot in worst lighting conditions and not bothering renting enough lights.
We actually never got to test the varispeed on the camera. Most of the shots used were filmed at 100 fps, except for the shot of the train track, when the girl first drops the coin into the water, the train passing by, and the shot of the fence before the kiss.
of course you are right, and it's not practical useful NOW, but in a few years, the cinemas turn better and better , and the beamers and everything... and someday you can watch reeeaally high res ( noch hd ) at home and 28K in cinema... I think ^^
trust me for macro shooting, thats amazing, imagine being able to shoot the hairs on a bee while in flight... there is so much the human eye cannot catch
beautiful scenery, very well shot and well produced.
simple question: what software are you using for editing, and how are you encoding your final output? I'm having trouble finding a decent codec and settings, I'm just going by trial and error for now.
I used final cut pro, took forever editing on a Mac book because it was slow.
I used Compressor and the settings I used for Youtube were under : Apple > Other Work > Web > Quicktime 7 Compatible > H.264 800 KBS and changed the width and heith to 1260 x 720 from what I remember
You know what. You are right, I goofed on that part. I shot at 2k 100fps, all the shots with the fire were used with that setting, same with all the other slow motion scenes.
NICE job this video kicks ass. I watched it in HD and it was amazing I almost died. really really good job. I love the camera angles as well and it flows perfectly with the song... really good job. I want to see more!
But I thought that the RED could only go up to 100fps in 2K. How did you get it to work?

What is better ... the Red One? Or the 150,000 dollar Sony Cinealta? Just curious. I've heard a lot arugment between which looks more like film.

@sonne5 It depends on the story. Some things look better on film and some better on digital. So it's a battle that never ends.

Hey, did you use varispeed to get the slow motion shots or were you just able to make whole project at 100 fps?

@gadgetmanlol Very easy camera to learn, District 9 looked excellent with the Red. Wise choice for the director
mfilmpro 1 year ago 2
@gadgetmanlol it was a back up camera from what i hear and most of it, about 80% was shot with something else like the genesis.

Yeah. ALOT of movies have been shot on the Red.

I wonder how many GPU's it takes to run a 4K stream... any ideas? RED RAY should be a super computer to be able to read such a high quality stream
Aryanpars 2 years ago
I'm pretty sure Nvidia's Quadro's/Telsla's would do it
If you've got the money for that stuff...

Looks great! Any special adaptors or programs for the slow mo? Or is it natively capable?
mooreentstudios 2 years ago
Red have a new 'brain' sensor thingy that can shoot 30fps video at 28K!!!! Why would anyone want to shoot video at that res?

Does it really matter it didn't originate from 4K? 2K is still way over-sampled considering it's down-rezed to YouTube compression standards.
