So, in your mind company profits have nothing to do with it? The average Wal-Mart worker gets to work on time and works hard for the company yet barely makes minimum wage with no benefits while Wal-Mart continues to be the largest, richest company on the planet. Where is your "merit" based system in all of that? The problem with your "merit" system is that it does not factor worker exploitation and corporate greed into the equation.
