I can certainly understand why a lot of people are put off by the love-fest the media has created over Forcier & especially Barkley. Forcier actually had the better game, but the Trojans final drive is what caused the media to go extra ga-ga over Barkley. In a few weeks this will die down. Barkley still has a long way to go in completely understanding the USC offensive system.

In the meantime, it looks like Aaron Corp may actually start for the Trojans as a result of Barkley's bum shoulder.

Barkley didn't do anything special on the last drive; it was all about McKnight, who was the most dominant force on the field in the 4th quarter. He does get credit for not panicking and imploding when faced with great adversity, but it is an exaggeration to talk about him leading a legendary drive to win the game. Leinart vs. ND in '05 this was not.

it all stems down to the fact that he's a true freshman, that's why it's a big deal. nobody is questioning joe mcknight's importance in this win either. he's becoming a leader for this offense.

The issue is that the media are consistently talking about how great Barkley was on the final drive, when the man only threw two passes, one of them being a dump-off that was well short of the marker when it was completed to McKnight. It makes no sense to talk about how the freshman responded under pressure, given that it was just an overwhelming show of force by the USC running game that won it. Barkley will have moments at which he makes the big plays, but this was all about McKnight.

Barkley did nothing, just as people predicted. I could've led the final drive for USC just as well; drop back, hand off, get out of the way. He didn't do anything spectacular. I agree about Pryor, and I do think Tressel coached a great game, it was his plan that buried us in poor field position for the entire game. I do think Tressel could have gone for a TD instead of a field goal in at least one situation. That aside, the game was hard fought and could have gone either way. We would have our hands plenty full if we got you guys in the Rose Bowl and I do wish the game, if it happens, could be played at a more neutral site.

He is a freshman, chances were that he would see the zone, and not know what to do, and force a bad pass. I havnt felt that way way at a Trojan game in a long time. I was so NERVOUS. But this proved we have something special in Matt, it really does. Year 2 he is going to run this offense 100%
