@E34BMW535i I tested a Vaio P (the newer models: 2010) and first it had aero turned off. But if you turn aero on, it has aero, too. Looked smooth for me. :)

I have the 2ghz, 2GB ram with a 128SSD version Vaio P with Win7.

I recommend changing the power plan to high performance.. activate GOD mode and get rid of most of the graphic extras and also change the screen refresh rate to 40hz. Also use google chrome for browsing.

Well I don't technically know how a computer works. But as far as I know.. 60hz = 60 times a second the computer has to generate the pixels on the screen... so by cutting it to 40 hz I'd assume it reduces the load by a third.

If you go through my post you will see I'm talking about increasing the performance of the Vaio P. In this case performance is not measured by smoothness. I know about refresh rates of screens. I'm talking about how much work the computer's integrated graphics chip has to do. When I said, "I dont know what is technically going on" I was referring to whether or not the computer does less work when the screen is set to 40hz and not the more demanding 60hz.

@TimeSplittersChimp netbooks, especially one like this with a less powerful processor cannot play HD video from youtube unless you download it first. it can't play mkv files either. i have a samsung nc10 netbook and it does surprisingly well with your average avi file. this thing is way over priced though for a smaller screen, less battery life etc.

i have a viao core 2 duo, the thing just dont want to install anything, printer, video capture all fail, even try to recover shitty vista from recovery disk i burn, wtf just downgrade to xp and its lightning fast. i guess it wasnot designed for xp though. good luck with that midget laptop u haave there.

Yes, a clean install wipes out the software that comes with the computer. It does leave the recovery partition intact unless you reformat/partition the drive.

IMO it's worth going with Windows 7 RC now for the Vaio P. It totally transforms the machine, speedy, everything works. Best installed fresh, so no pre-bundled crapware will interferer with it.

Can't tell about that exact model, but my VAIO VGN-TT15SN (the TT series) last roughly 7 hours doing nothing but writing in word.

I can playing world of Warcraft for around 3-4 hours unplugged as well. :)
