I see alot of liberals simply saying Andrew Sullivan got owned without actually pointing out what's wrong with what he said. Paul Ryan actually has a plan, a poor one, but alot more than anything the Democrats have. Obama hasn't acted or lead on this issue by producing a specific plan to attack entitlements. His laste two budgets have been a complete joke and if he can't get one past this year I for sure won't vote for him. He's incompetant.

I gave a thumbs down to this video. It's not that I agree or disagree with what Sullivan is saying, it's just that the most sensible comment (I think) in the video came from Katty Kay, who said "You have to do both" whilst Sullivan spoke over her. However, anything else she may have said you edited out, so I have to assume she meant both cut spending and raise taxes in order to pay off the debt. I'm off to find the unedited show to form my opinion.

I don't think I ever called George Bush "your" President, as much as I hated him. He was elected (at least once) so he was OUR President, just like Obama.

For the record, I'm actually a big fan of Sullivan. He's the most intelligent conservative public intellectual out there. And I don't mean that in a snarky way.

Removing the Bush tax cuts for the wealthy reduces the deficit by 50%. Medicare Part D was not paid for = $500B. The two wars were not paid for = $2T and growing.

Without just these 3 things, our debt would only be $5T.

If any FISCALLY conservative republican actually cared about the deficit, they would get rid of the Bush Tax cuts, allow Medicare to bargain with the Big Pharma for cheaper drugs (Part D bans this) and raise taxes (on EVERYONE) to pay for the wars.

Over the next 10 years, Obama wants to spend $46.7 trillion, Paul Ryan wants to spend $40 trillion... that would LOWER the deficit we actually have by 6.7 trillion, of by about half, this is a MUST.
