  • I get 2 or 3 FTF out of every 500 rounds.

  • @cooldog60 What ammo are you using?

  • @Mattsplat1975 Federal Bulk never have any problems when I shoot it in my S&W 22a

  • @cooldog60 Wow. I put a bunch of Federal bulk through mine and no issues at all.

  • I just got my sr22 the other day. I put cci mini mags through it and a few times when i tried chambering a round it got stuck on the infeed lip. I tried thunderbolts through it and those are terrible rounds, very inconsitant and would fail to eject a few times. I put federal bulk through there and those fired great but the best of all was the cheap blazer brass which isn't the greatest ammo but for the.22lr it is the best for this gun in my opinion so far.

  • great gun... how much was it? and as far as that cheap cardboard box YUCK!!! i expected more from ruger in that reguard..... other than that i can hardly wait to buy one of these lil tactical cool looking .22 long rifle awesome deal's i know that ruger makes quality fire arms i own the 10/22 and i had the gp 100 and all great experiences with them both. as far as the cardboard box. it's just gonna be for target practice.. it's cheap

  • ruger really needs to evolve from the 10 round mags. grrrr. if i am carrying the smallest round at least give me decent handfull of rounds.

  • @GozonTheGonsarian It isn't just Ruger. 10 round mags just seems to be some standard for the .22 cartridge. Pretty much all the .22 handguns come with 10 rounders. Look at the Browning, Baretta NEOS, SIG Mosquito etc,,. Lame, though, I agree.

  • Have you tried High Velocity ammo with it?

  • @4Ugrunt Yep. If you look at my channed there is a shooting video where I am using CCI Stingers. They are a very hot load for .22lr. They ran great in this gun. No problems at all.

  • Quick question. Does the SR22 allow for a threaded barrel for a supressor? I am looking at both the walther p22 and this gun and i really want the SR22 but I want the ability to suppress it as easily as the walther can be suppressed

  • @nagelm2 Not at the moment. But I am sure it will come in the future if Ruger is smart. .22's make great suppressed guns because they get really really quiet.

  • @Mattsplat1975 thanks a bunch. Have you shot the walther p22?

  • @nagelm2 No. I almost bought one a couple years ago but I started doing research and read a whole bunch of bad reviews and forum posts. I heard bad stuff about the SIG Mosquito too but I still went and bought one. Now that I have the SR22 I doubt the SIG will get out much unless I want to dual wield the .22's. (that just makes me smile :D )

  • Thanks for taking the time to make very informative video reviews! Hope you never tire in making them! More power to you sir and safe shooting!

  • cool 22 pistol i might have to get one

  • Dumping my smith 22a pos for this gun! Nice movie!

  • I read 5 accounts of the Takedown Lever breaking on the SR22P. I really want an SR22P but refuse to buy it until the takedown lever issue is fixed. I am thinking maybe the shooters used .22LR "+p" ammo such as CCI Mini Mags or Velocitor which caused it to break.

So I am eyeing the Ruger Bearcat (man I want one but it costs $500!) and the Browning U22 Neos 4.5" barrel. The U22 with the shorter barrel is growing on me and I've heard good reports. It's $300 and accepts optics, not bad.

  • I have a GSG 1911 22. cool gun, but big POS. jams a lot, and shoots real high. I have the tallest front sight installed, and it shoots high. After about 1200 rounds, the barrel bushing broke, so I had to call ATI, and they sent me a new one for free, which was cool. I would like to trade my .22 in for something better, and your review impresses me. One thing I really don't have time for is unreliable equipment. I'll have to check these out.

  • @menacinggesture Yeah, check it out for sure. Shoots great. Seems to be built very well. I don't see now anyone would be disappointed with this little gun. It really is a gem. Easy on the wallet too. Seems to be going for $329 most places. Hope you find one, they are popular right now.

  • @Mattsplat1975 yeah, and you get 2 mags in a world where companies typically furnish 1. I like ruger's guns a lot. It seems like you typically get way more for the money. I wanted a P95, but this is actually more ideal. cheaper ammo, and all I'd be doing is plinking anyway. I'll have to make some calls, and see who's got em, and find out what my GSG is worth in trade. Thanks for your review, and reply. very helpful.

  • The lock that came with my SR22 is insane! I think it weighs twice what the pistol does.

  • Great video, thanks for taking the time to go over stuff that gun novices might not understand or know.

  • @someonetookmyemail Thanks for watching and thanks for the feedback!

  • Egads! What a little gem. It looks like it costs even less than the Ruger Bearcat, & I want [both]. The SR22 Pistol is similar to my full-size Sig. The properly scaled size and thick barrel are icing on the cake. I'm getting fat just thinking about it

I'm sure we'll see larger grips that have an extension to cover the 'gap'. It felt good in my hands, but I did not shoot it

Does anyone see any problems later on with that Aluminum slide?

  • @ntrudr800 I don't see any reason the aluminum slide would cause issues after extensive use. I am not worried.

  • every 22 mag ive seen the rounds stagger due to the shape of them!

  • @TrifeThaDon Yeah, but you have to see this one to know what I mean. The mag is wider on the inside so the staggering of the rounds is much more dramatic. When you look at a full mag they almost look piled up haphazardly inside the magazine. It looks odd but it functions perfectly.

  • Can't wait for some after market goodies, steal guide rod maybe, truglo front sight, threaded barrel. I got this to shoot cheap at the range all year. Love mine! Great review!!

  • @Moonfood78 Thanks for the comment.

  • @Moonfood78 Ruger already offers a threaded barrel.

  • by the way is it extremely accurate like the mark and 22/45 series?

  • @yoitsspiderman It shot very accurately for me, but I really don't put much stock in the "accuracy" of handguns. Unless you bolt the thing down in a vice you really don't know. Most variation comes from the shooter, not the gun. It is probably the case with rifles to a point but I think it is a bigger deal with handguns.

  • great detailed review! thanks!

  • nice. i'm waiting for a 22 mag version

  • @lamont0414 If they do, I will be the first in line. That would be awesome. I wonder if they would need to beef up the slide.

  • 7:08 The "double action" is the cocking of the hammer, and the release of the hammer... not "the pulling of the trigger and the cocking of the hammer."

I know that's what you meant.. but if you preface it with "for those of you who aren't familiar with single action vs double action," it would be nice to put the right information out there.

  • @silvermediastudio That is true. Sorry for the little bit of misinformation.

  • Thanks. Picked one up over the weekend. It loves cci stingers.

  • Thanks for the clear explanation, especially the bit about the magazine loading.

  • what'cha pay for it?

  • Excellent and extremely accurate review. My local gun shop got their allocation of exactly three of these SR22 pistols and I managed to snatch one of them up. Everything you stated here I found to be the case with my gun. All in all, it's an absolutely excellent little pistol. I owned a P22 years back and it never shot as well as this SR22. I put 100 rounds of 4 different types of .22LR ammo through the thing - from cheapie Fed 550 bulk pack to CCI Velocitors - without a hiccup. Great gun.

  • Great review. Recent guns made by Ruger, though they might shoot well have a retarded design. They made everything different, added a mag release disengage, which they try to convince us is a safety feature, and give the end user no options. At least they provided two mags, unlike the LC9.

  • WELL over 1000 rounds through mine and only one jam/FTF and it could have been ammo related. no problems other than the one FTF. If you use WEAK ammo or cheap ammo, you will have succesfull ejections where the gun won't re-chamber. You can NOT blame this gun for failing to function with inconsistently powered ammo such as federal/remington bulk.

  • Nice video man I love this thing so much I did my own 12 min review. BTW you can reverse those thumb assists on the mags depending on what hand you like to load with.

  • I just got an SR22, went to my range with a brick of Federal Champion .22 LR. The gun hated it. It refused to chamber a round. A number of rounds were crimped, jamming it up completely. I thought it was the gun, but at my store, my sales guy loaded it with some Winchester (40 grain) and it fired 50 times flawlessly.

I owned a Sig Mosquito about 9 months ago. One of the worst guns I have ever had. Even using the recommended CCI mini mags, it jammed and jammed. For me it was a nightmare.

  • I have a Winchester model 61 22 mag had this gun since I was 12 I have a wide view scope I can hit dimes at a hundred yards I used this gun for deer hunting till I was around 30 and found out it was not legal to use a 22 mag a lot of trophy deer were shot with that gun I really like my 22s thinking about getting one of these SR 22

  • Fantastic; professional, informative, & impressive I'm very curious whether you may have any experiences or similar review of the Walther p22, and, if so, how you think they compare. For instance, if you had to choose one or the other, which would you choose & why?

  • I'll have this pistol in a couple weeks, I can't wait! Excellent review by the way!

  • after 1000 rounds I am very happy with my SR22

  • Another lawyer designed pistol from Ruger ;)

Looks good though, I still want one!

  • Great Video, thanks!

  • Pretty good video, thanks!

  • @SlyOne77 Thanks!

  • @BenjiREC ....please send me 10 of these. Ha ha

  • Very good review !!

  • The Sig 22 has a good reputation. I cant wait to shoot one. Does anyone make night sights for this gun yet?

  • Your videos are well done. Keep the good work up. Not boring or to long.

  • 2 away from 1k subs congrats... great video as always Matt.

  • @vbpics I know! SOOO close! Ha ha

  • thanks for great vid. very informative. nudges me even closer to buying a sr22. i'm a nubie so i needed help before plunking down green or plastic.

  • @9072aaa Well, this is one firearm that I can confidently say you won't be disappointed with. It is a perfect "noob" gun. You will love it and it isn't all that expensive.

  • I have both the Mosquito and the SR 22. THe Mosquito will only shoot mini mags reliably. The SR will shoot anything you feed it. The sights on the Mosquito are not very good either. The SR has better sights on it as well.

  • Excellent review. Very detailed and balanced

  • I have the sig and love the fit and feel but had to buy the SR22 and love it! It will chew up any ammo! Great review!

  • @Thibodeausheating Yeah, it is sad to say it because I have shot a couple SIGs and loved them. But the SR22 really beats out the Mosquito without question.

  • Great review. Your review verifies that this is the right pistol for my first 22lr purchase. The problem is finding the pistol in stock somewhere!

  • Maybe i missed it but what the was mag capasaty? THNX .:GREG:.

  • This is a good pistol, I however have one bad thing to say. One of the magazines I got with my pistol will not drop freely. At first I wasn't worried about it. But when I went to shoot the pistol the magazine spring started folding up inside the magazine. I think that the magazine is bent on the inside Im not sure, But with the other magazine It is 100% reliable. I have yet to send in the faulty mag but Im sure Ruger with there superb customer service will right this problem. Great gun Ruger!

  • Matt, I bought one of these last week! I love it too!

I noticed the same thing about the magazine with the rounds staggering, also no issues here.

Glad to see this weapon getting some press for being so new!

  • love my Ruger Single Six, but would really like to pick up a semi-auto in 22lr, thanks for pointing this one out looks great

  • @boxdoutfoot You will love this one. It really is a neat little pistol. I was shocked at the reliability.

  • Do you have a Browning Buckmark or Ruger MarkIII, you could compare the accuracy too? I like the fact that it ran without a hiccup on different kinds of ammo.

  • Nice solid review ! Big Ruger fan here anyway, and your review just moved the SR22 up on my wish list !

  • Very nice review Matt. I really like the looks of this little pistol...

  • Great video as always matt. Any thoughts on the GSG1911-22? One video on YouTube said it was the same as the SIG 1911-22?

  • @TheSandMan491 Yes, GSG makes the Sig 1911-22, and they are a little more expensive because of the Sig name on the slide. I have the GSG version and I'm very happy with it.

  • nice

  • It looks like the shadow of a Walther P22.

  • I shot my friends ruger p345 and it is a sa/da trigger as well. I really liked it. It felt a lot like my rra 2 stage trigger i have on my bcm/spikes ar15. Very hairy to say the least. is this at all the same as far as feel is compared?

  • Comment removed

  • Nice job,,Mine on single action around 5LBS, Maybe is new, I only shoot about 250 rounds, Perfect.

  • Looks great! Do you like the SR22 or Mosquito better? Im in the progress of choosing the Mosquito or SR22. Love to see some feed back from a great gun owner!

  • @VenusflytrapJer If you want a gun that is finicky with ammo and jams, get the Mosquito. Otherwise, the SR22 is the clear choice on the market today.

  • Another good review. Handsome pistol. i'm thinking i bought my 22 at the wrong time. Lot of great looking options out there now.
