  • One way to strengthen it a little at first is hold the wrist you are pulling up with - with the other hand.

  • Put your leg on a stool and get up the strength.

This is a great example of what a good round human being is.

It's not about being flashy, it's about being humble and that we can al learn from each other.

    So awesome!! Nice one George.

  • Hope Diaz slaps you. Amen

  • Seriously, after seeing this video, I respect GSP even more than I already did before. Such humility and honesty is not often seen in such high profile athletes.

  • i am 17 and i live in canada , i get beat up and bullyd . you are my faverite fighter , and i have hardly any food so i am super skinny , i cant gain weight cuz there is hardly nothing to eat . my goal in life is to meet joe rogan and have a good talk with him. i feel soo alone in this world but i know i have the potential to be somone GREAT . i understand if you dont get back to me . -keep doing what you do and do it the best you can , from mark

  • @MultiJokesMan how do u have a computer then

  • You could try to use your free arm and put it on the biceps or a little upper of the busy arm. You would probably be able to do it. It's just a technique and you still do it with one arm obviously.

  • you just won me over with this. I found myself rooting for Nick Diaz in your upcoming match I suppose because of his rough background. Like a Rocky story, You're a good guy GSP, the best ambassador the world of MMA has ever seen. Shame on me.

  • @Subfightr What a lot of people don't know as well, is that GSP came from a rough background as well. I think most assume he was brought up from a wealthy family because he's so polite but he got bullied as a kid and had to work 3 jobs at the same time at one point.

  • @globalModValue I'm Canadian and I'm a jerk!

  • i think he can do it, he just doesn't know how to do it properly like how you would position your legs and your other arm. think of one-arm push ups, the leg and arm positioning are different from a regular push up, so it's the same principle with one-arm pull, it's not gonna be the same positioning as the regular pullups. extending your legs so that your body makes an L-shape or close to it just as long as it is infront of you worked for me at least.

  • try using 1 arm on pullup bar the other holding a lat pulldown attachment then you know how much assisting weight your using(if there next to each other)

  • hardworking, nice, polite and humble. Sir G S P, you should be UFC heavy weight champion.

  • GSP is the man!

  • TOO CUTEEE

  • Im uploading one on your facebook page. Hope you respond. It will be up in 1 hour. A video of me in Moscow, Russia performing. Shout out to TeamRush

  • Hey bro for you to do a one arm pull up you first have to do one arm negatives. also holding your body weight at differnt possitions help. once you can control the lowering motion with one arm. you should be able to do 1 one arm pull up. great job bro!

  • instead of watching gsp's next fight, i'll probably just watch paint dry instead. I think it will be a little more exciting.

  • put a chain around your waist and pull up like a powerlifter would lift for your set work. Also get a good spotter and train negatives with very heavy weighted waist.

  • wow gsp cant do that?!?! shit i thought he could do like 10.

  • GSP God bless you..keep walking....

  • A real champion commits that he has weak points. The challenge is to accept them and improve them.

  • ?????????WTF.. u cant even do only one..

  • @Innocentlive24 Why dont you upload a video of you doing a one hand pull up, since you think youre so tuff buddy.

  • cuz i cant. thats why i dont upload one..

. im on 175. i can do 15-20 but with two arms.

    one arms no never..

  • i can do this with like.....my pinky finger

  • I could do it before I tore my rotary cuff again, and my pec at 225 weight. You can really only do it if you grab opposite hand around your wrist that's pulling for balance. It's still one arm pull up, using your other arm for balance. The stress on the joints is too much mostly in the shoulder in which he is doing it extended.. Plus you need the step up/block to take the stress from going immediateness on the joint from floor up, than standing on a block.

  • Man he's got reach.

  • wow, you are so humble! kudos to you

  • Gsp your the Truth!! I respect you trying on camera, where most men would have just ignored the comments. I will gladly show you how to one arm pull up. Let me know contact us. Where do you want the video at?

  • GSP is a fighter. He is not a bodybuilder. so no shame if he can't do this. and no point in doing this if you're a fighter.

  • @demolayakp Most bodybuilders don't and can't do this either to be honest. They are most likely on the lat pulldown machine.

  • GSP will never able to do a one-arm pullup, it's not about lacking strength, he just doesn't have the body type for it. If you look some of the gymnasts who can do it, you'll notice they have shorter limbs and sometimes long torsos.

  • @ImyManz99 Thats not true, I've witness people from all shapes and sizes perform a One Arm Pull Up.

  • GSP was thinking " i'm not impressed with my performance " hahaha. you rock GSP! such a humble man.

  • kick nick diaz,s punk ass badly man.

  • I just wanted to say that I am not impressed by your performance.

Just kidding, I love this guy.

  • GSP will train and he wıll be the one arm pull up champıon,ı am sure.because he ıs a perfectıonıst and always develops hımself.

    GSP YOU ARE THE MAN

  • awesome guy to learn from

  • This guy is awesome in sooo many ways.

  • OAC is not just a question of strenght it's first a movement you have to see the motion as a spiral.

then you have to be able to bend your arm without flexing the biceps too hard the reason is if you flex your biceps too hard it will become big an hard and stop the range of motion of the elbow.

    for more info contact me.

  • Hi George

I'm a Aerial straps performer I'm from Mtl.

I can do a really clean one arm pull up you can check on my channel.

If you really want to get the skill I can help you would be a pleasure.

    Jonathan.

  • Ive noticed most of the UFC champs are very humble.

  • Start off in a flexed arm hang and then do negatives! Eventually, with tons of practice, you can do the one arm pull up.

  • You need to meet a personal trainer named Al Kavadlo. This is the kind of thing he specializes in. Check him out on YT or his own site.

  • ouu dude nothing cant do that xD , but i can do pull ups with 1 hand holding my wrist with the other hand xD , greetings!.

  • GSP you are the man. It takes cojones to post a video on YouTube about what you cannot do. Fair play to you.

  • @JackMacyntire i agree on that,what a humble man thats why he's champ.

  • hey gsp i can do it with 1 arm too:)

  • Check on my profile for my video

  • Try doing negatives

  • haha he cant do this cuz he cuts like 50 lbs. to get to welterweight lmao...

  • @seidlej Actually, GSP says he hangs out at 185 usually, never gets past 190, most guys at that level cut about 30 pounds, sometimes more, so that puts him at the small end of weight cutting.

  • @Kazmundio it was a joke...lmao :p belive it or not im a gsp fan...

  • @seidlej more like 15 to 20 fool. Fitch and alvez were both bigger than him.

  • @seidlej nevermind I see you were joking but I've seen other seriously try to say shit like that lol

  • @82Bdog lmfao ikr!! alves is one fat motherfucker for his weight lol

  • My friend could do alot of 1 Hand pull ups..I'll try to get him to post a vid..

  • This is how u do it gsp. 2handed chins diffrent variations with extra weight. When u can do 10 reps with 50 or more added. Do ur weight in before a fight routine u will be 10 pounds lighter. Then try the one handed pullup.

  • If you want to know what GSP is like when he's not in the ring - Google and read "The Day I Met Georges St-Pierre"

  • I like it. The UFC welterweight champion of the world can't do a one armed pull up but he'd easily kick your ass into a pulp.

  • gsp works too hard on his body. it doesn't flow gracefully like anderson silva, jon jones or even cain velsquez he's gotten more stiff. his body is done stop working on it and work on technique and agression and staying in the pocket dodging

  • Haha GSP je sais que tu es capable de faire ça, arrête de faker!!!!

  • theoretically, i would say that if you do pullups with weights equal to your bodyweight, you should be able to do it.

  • @wubs23 dissagree. much as you cannot dumbell press half the weight of your bench press. The combination off the complete body working is going to more stronger than double of that of half

  • @MrCurtybird hmm true. I still think it's the way to train it though.. maybe more weight, but i see no other way to train it.

  • @wubs23 not arguing it would help, just not that simple

  • I have a little video doing them.. Try tons of under grip pull ups, one arm negatives and static holds with one arm. Those help...

Try to do very explosive pull ups of all variations!

  • When doing the pull up hold the wrist that is doing it with the free hand.

  • Mad respect for GSP ....

  • i think the best way to train to do one armed pull-ups would be to go up with both hands, then let go with one and just go down slowly which works out more muscles and gets your arm used to the weight.

  • AMAZING PERSON, INCREDIBLE FIGHTER!

    BEST EVER!

  • you have to get used to the motion. just hanging with a straight arm you can not pull yourself up unless your used to it. you have to learn to do it cheating first so you get used to the motion. hold the bar with one arm and jump up use the momentum to assist yourself with the pull up. once you get used to that try it with a slight bend in the arm.keep on doing it with a less bend. after a while you get used to the motion and will be able to do an hanging one arm pull up.

  • Google and read "The Day I Met Georges St-Pierre" to find out how I personally met him and what I discovered about him.

  • I have a tip that will definately help you do it but it involves cutting off your legs ^_^

  • I have a that will definately help you do it but it involves cutting off your legs ^_^

  • Damn he seems like a nice guy. Im a fan now.

  • Keep up the good work, GSP. You are one of the "good guys"!

  • I'm surprised he couldn't get this one.

  • I'm not im-press by your per-for-mans

  • i've seen many of these GSP Fan Challenges, and while he's pretty good at them, i must say most of his strength probably is in his lower body, and not his upper. i mean, he has a ridiculously good/explosive double. great athlete!

  • gsp is the man.

  • I like to see GSP do the human flag!

  • you put your hand on your wrist that is holding onto the bar. than you pull up. It is quiet easy with this technique.

  • Bruce Lee did, I forget how many but it was a ridiculous amount of these. Imagine how fit that guy was.

  • Hey George, extend one of your arms as you are doing in the video. Let s say your right arm. Grab your right wrist with your left hand and pull your body up with your right arm. You need to apply force with your left hand, tight grip. I bet you can do ten or more. But make sure to lift your chin up that bar, otherwise it does not count as one pull up or chin up.

  • Start by doing just the negative portion of the rep; also hold yourself in the static full contraction portion of the movement.

And of course, doing a shit ton of two handed pullups always helps.

  • I am not impressed by your performance Georges.

  • Fitness Challenge: Win a fight without going to decision!!! I like you Georges but seriously, it would be nice to see more often!!! ALSO, how much can you Bench Press One Rep Max???

  • assisted pull up machine homie :p

  • check out Ross Enamaits stuff, he does the sickest bodyweight stuff with ease =)...if I was GSP I would even try to get some weeks of training with him!

  • Comment removed

  • wooseewodeeaderarm.

  • refreshing that such an elite athlete is so humble and modest.. some of these dudes need to take notes on how GSP conducts himself.

  • @nic265 right, the most humble person an fighter i ever seen, i like gsp

  • @nic265 most athletes grew up poor and uneducated and come from tough neighborhoods ... gsp has been taking karate classes since he was a child. very different upbringings will give you different adult personalities. and there is nothing wrong with that.

  • @nic265 A lot of people commenting on video about a person that they don't know. Like this guy is humble, nice, sweet and all good stuff about him. Just because you watched a video of that person doing sweet stuff and talk nice and automatically you said he's a good guy.. Do you even know him personally? I believe most people are just a fan of that person that is why we said they're nice and sweet or even Humble... I guess.......

  • @majestytd you might be right. but ill put it this way; there are probably thousands of videos of GSP on the internet and i haven't seen them all. but of the many that i have seen, never has he conducted himself badly or interacted negatively with another person. which is a lot more than i can say for other MMA fighters, or even athletes in general. therefore i think its safe to deduce that GSP is in fact, a good and humble person. but thats just my humble opinion ;)

  • Well I like to use my ape-technique when I'm training for this :D I can do one with both hands.

  • here is a challenge ;do as many backflips in 2 minutes non stop

  • @CHRISTHESICNESSWILSO I don't think he can even one backflip without messing up. He always lands on his knees. T_T

  • Lets say u do the one arm pull up with ur right hand, well use youre left hand holding ur right arm while trying to do the pull up...it works perfectly and is still legalized as a one arm pull up!!thumbs up so GSP can see this comment

  • who was hitting up the bench looks like 140 kg

  • thats simply amazing, although i did not expect him to be able to do it , i somewhat did expect him to do it. But it just goes to show, this guy trains endurance mainly, its not as functional for him to be able to do a one arm chin as it is to do several two handed chins.

  • whats cool about him is he does the challenges and even if he cant do them he'll still put it up for the fan, hes not worried about how it makes him look

  • GSP my friend, do weighted pull ups ( OAP) and weighted chin ups (OAC). Until you get to a 1 rep with 85% of your bodweight, then you are ready to try it. You should be able to do about a 145 pound weighted pull up to be truly able to do this, also don't forget to practice deadhangs on bar on one arm full extension for max time, hope it helps. You're the man GSP.

  • dumbbell row your own body weight works very well for me

  • That's some classy stuff right there.

  • this shit is so ez, anyone can do it

  • @baphomet58 Yea its easy if your like 100 pounds or less but he's like 170

  • @GrandKingAwesome I've seen people well over 200 do them pretty easily. They're just not the type of thing most people train.

  • hes fooling us! I seen him do it on his training vid before. shoot i can even do this

  • Hold your wrist with ur other hand! U can do it gap

  • GSP..u da fuckin man

  • diaz sucks nuts

  • @comicman34 No. You forgot Jon Fitch.

  • @comicman34 you typo'd , you mean best lbs for lbs fighter in UFC. That correction is free next one you will pay haha

  • seriously, ask jet li... i am not 100 if its special effects, but his wushu videos, he is shown doing many one armed chin-ups... use your connections and ask him george

  • beastskills

will show you how to do it!!

  • Bruce Lee will be able to do this

  • Well good to know he can't do one. I thought most athletes could. Now I see that ross enamait does stuff no one else can and when I feel exhausted from 2 weeks on his workouts at least i know i have company now.

  • TRY A PRESS HANDSTAND!!!!! GSP YOU KNOW THIS ONE BECAUSE YOU TRAIN AT IMCO! PLEASE TRY, AND THUMB THIS UP SO HE CAN SEE :D

  • hes obviously holding back

  • this is great! it shows that he's only human too, and as he fully admits, he's not the strongest out there. but what makes him so great is his all-around ability, intensity, and humbleness to go along with it

  • He's very similar to Lyoto Machida. Both are very very humble karateka. Machida actually didn't start actively using weight training until the Thiago Silva fight, interestingly enough. A lot of wrestlers, judoka, and karateka are very old-fashioned; they choose to primarily train calisthenics, work their technique, and just drill a lot in sparring. Personally, that's how I choose to do it too. Bulk is overrated.

  • @MrJonplane you can train and not put on size, although for some with there genetics it is unavoidable.

  • so you're telling me that if you where hanging on the edge of a cliff with only one hand, you would probably die? :(

  • @Zaoozas doh......probably not...he will just have to put his other arm up the edge as well...

  • @Zaoozas Unless you hang there until help arrives :)

Also, in that case Adrenaline is your friend.

    GSP for president

  • @Zaoozas No! LMFAO, if your hanging on the edge of a cliff you can use your feet to help you up and then use your second hand! lol

  • @Zaoozas

Probably not, you get caught in the moment, then the adrenaline and your will to live :)

  • well to do that you need to be able to at least curl the same weight as your body 0.o

  • Clearly GSP needs YOUR help to train to do pull-ups.

  • @Lolskatorian its called public relations. he wants to see his fans interact with him

  • Can you do the Superman pushup that I do on my channel @dynastymartialartsca ?

  • it looked like he didnt even try but whatever he probably didnt want to hurt himself by mistake

  • you look like the nicest scary guy ever

  • challenge: Arms only rock climbing

  • thats how i do pull ups...

  • @N4RUTOOO The bicep is one of the most useless muscles for fighting. Fighters don't workout their biceps as much as other more important muscles. It doesn't really help us in the ring, maybe a slight grappling advantage is all, won't really help out a punch.

  • @ExarKane Well, that's not exactly true. For Judoka, Muay Thai fighters, and wrestlers who like the clinch, it's very useful in controlling the tie-up. If you can't control the head and arm, you're screwed in the clinch. It also helps in keeping the legs from sprawling when you shoot in for a double. But yeah, for guys like GSP, Machida, and Anderson who really use footwork and distance, biceps aren't an issue.

  • @ExarKane Spoiler Alert: Nerdiness forthcoming. The biceps can help a straight punch a bit. Its origins are at the supraglenoid tubercle of the scapula and the coracoid process of the scapula. This means that one of the functions of the biceps (although a weak function) is shoulder flexion, which you definitely need to throw a punch.

If we're talking about an uppercut, the biceps is very important as it's the main forearm supinator (turns the palm upwards) when the elbow is in flexion

  • @ExarKane the bicep is not the only thing working with a one-arm pullup. It takes incredle grip, forearm, lat, and bicep strength. Many that can do them can also do double bodyweight pullups. So yes building more strength with the technique georges already has will help him.

  • if he can do a one hand pull up he will be beast in the ring!... his punch would demolish the guy face

  • Start at the top and hold yourself there with one hand as long as you can. When your arm starts to give, keep holding and let your bodyweight overcome your muscle. This eccentric contraction is what will make your arms bigger and stronger. It will take a long time though.

The lever (arm) isn't biomechanically set up to be able to do this from a straight arm start. It would be like trying to flip a telephone pole (lying on the ground) with a rope by pulling the rope parallel to the ground

  • @bigmattypimpin Well said.

  • I doubt anyone could do it from 'straight arm' position no matter how strong they were.. your muscles and joints aren't designed to work that way..

  • @MrMeanderthal actually many can and there are many vids on youtube. Look up zef or zakaveli on youtube and check out theether's channel. There's many more

  • The best way I trained for it was by doing "Gibbons".

Use both hands to pull yourself up, release one hand and slowly lower yourself with the other hand, repeat on the other side. Work you way up to 5 times per side and you should probably have the strength to do at least one.

  • go talk to the 'Pacman'.. He even carry his son/daughter(?) while doing one hand pull-ups.. i saw it in one of his commercial/ads.

  • How bout.....1000lb bench press next?

  • i can do this with my penis

  • I bet he do it with one leg and an extra 200lbs

  • Call Chuck Norris

  • those arms are for choking out not pulling up

  • GSP, hold your wrist of the arm with the opposite hand that's doing the pull up for more stability.

  • @ak4e Then you use both your hands.... then it's no longer a one armed pull up

  • Get the book convict conditioning

  • hey GSP check this out "one finger" pull up lol

type in youtube dot com and this after watch?v=AEpfVy_if6U&feature=related

  • the part I like is he tried it, can't do it but wants to learn how to do it by asking.

  • Ur the best gsp i have a one u can try how about u train blind folded please

  • Voici comment faire des pull ups a un seul bras, here's how to do pull ups with one arm only : ecrivez One-Arm Pull-Up and Chin-Up Tutorial on youtube.

  • Why can't GSP do a one-armed pull up?

I've seen like 7 respones to this video who all did a one-arm pull up.

Is this like that backflip he can never land. Either way, he's a hell of a fighter. XP

  • My challenge for you is to do a backflip on the ground please try it!!

  • tien ton poignet avec ton autre bras c fesable ;)

  • If George can't do it - no one can!

  • GSP - Thank you, next challenge

    How about FRONT LEVER ?

    Health & Happiness

  • I respect this man.
